Absolutely right Gil on Hogberg AND George. If one of the last two games wasn’t the right time to play Hogberg, when is the right time?!? George will never develop skills and confidence sitting in the stands. How long will it be before his ending with this team is exactly like Wahlstrom? When the young players are continuously mismanaged by multiple coaches, the common factor is LOU! Only the owners can fix this, they need to make this change, now!
I made no comparison between Wahlstrom or any other player. But I stand by my thinking that other players will leave this team in similar ways if they are not given the chance to develop and prove themselves.
Thanks, Thomas. Things need to change and it's past time changes were made. Ultimately, you're right, it's up to ownership to realize that Lou needs to go. I will say this: Lou should not be the GM making decisions at the trade deadline this year. Thanks for the comment and LGI
Gm Gil. Last night was more of the same. Players out of position. blind pass turnovers a plenty. Barzal looked poor and definitely not in sync. Watching two of the poorer teams in the NHL was painful. Its in the team's best interest to be out of contention of a playoff spot sooner than later
It is in the team's long term best interests to not make the playoffs this year and to be out of it sooner. The Isles need to move on from Lou. He cannot make moves at the trade deadline. Thanks for the comment, Eric. LGI
You are a rampage today Gil and I share all your sentiments and frustrations. You know I am also a big Wally fan and hope he finds some success with the Bruins as he has a big history of growing up in New England and playing for Boston College. Happy to have Barzy back & would love to have our top line all healthy ASAP. LGI
Thanks, Darrell. I hope the team bounces back with everyone healthy although not sure if Horvat will play Tuesday vs Carolina. Duclair should be back. I am also a big Wally fan and wish him the best with the Bs. Thanks for the comment and LGI
Good morning team! Gil, there is no hiding it or sugar coating anything. At times, this team has moments of brilliance, but it is very short lived. Not enough to be a true contender. More like a pretender. I understand it will be a few games to knock the rust of his skates, same for when Duclair makes his return. I still believe the go ahead goal was a fluke, the handle of Sorokin's stick hitting it into his net. Things like that happen, but the Blackhawks were taking the play to the Islanders, and those breaks happen with hard work. They certainly didn't look like one of the worse teams in the league. Gil, I hope you had a good weekend. Glad to see you and the team this morning. Everyone, have a great day! We'll see you all again tomorrow. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!
No, Tony, they didn't look like the worst team and that doesn't speak well of the Islanders when they make a struggling team like that look good. I hope you had a good weekend, too, Tony. I can't believe 2024 is almost history. Thanks for the comment and LGI
Even with injured guys back just more moving around of interchangeable average talent that just doesn't move the needle at all. And still a weak fkn ass lazy team that keeps blowing lead after lead game after game late. And 30 .818 sv.%. Bad goals or left out to dry fact is isles don't win when 30's sv. % dips below .900. No margin for error. Just a sad apathetic roster with no will no fight. 3 looks so washed up. Will look good with 24 as their deals age badly with 5-6 seasons left to go. And louzer was relieved of having to admit his big draft mistake when b's claimed 26 off of waivers. 26 = first round bust turned wasted asset. Now with that $ million off of the cap louzer now has the $$$'s to keep his bud 17 on roster full time. This season is going nowhere and can't end soon enough. w one l one blah blah blah... Two more weeks of hope. Then the time to punt season away is after new year.
Hi Gil, been traveling, hope you’re doing well this HolidaySeason. I saw yesterday’s game on DVR. I felt like a “sideways bobble head” shaking my head all game. The unforced giveaways are just too much. To see them struggle like this with a bad team reminds you--you’re not a good team. I know giveaways are part of the game but this lack of defensive commitment is absurd. Gil, we simply need new personnel and a new Gm. This isn’t working. I don’t want to blame Roy because when you’re given a veteran older team that lacks modern speed, what else can you expect? It’s shocking to see Dobson and mayfield consistently give the puck away. However, they collectively give the puck away. Pellech and Pulock are just not the same defensively. It’s a broken record, what else can be said? They have one last chance when Duc and Bo return. They simply need to go on a run. IMOP ya have to have 2 runs a year. They haven’t even had one and it’s almost mid year. I think our fans would be ok with a major retool but with this Gm, it won’t happen. They won’t trade guys that are having a good year and if Nelson keeps this up, he will lose some value but teams know what they’re getting with him. To blow another game in the last minute, to have another major break down against this same team prior game, it’s just not working. Take care Gil-great show!!
Thanks, Frankie. Good to hear from you. Hope you are doing well this holiday season as well. This team isn't good enough right now and changes are needed. They should have been made a year or two ago. I hope they do improve when Duke and Bo return, but they will still only be a fringe playoff team at best. The giveaways and sloppy play need to end. Thanks for the comment, Frankie. LGI
This team struggled before all of their top players were out with injuries and they will continue to struggle once they all return. You can’t pollish a turd
Prob with this team is they will only play as hard as they can to win and they won’t give the effort night after night. The D around the net is awful. And Romanov inexplicably puts the puck over the glass with NO one near him for a two man advantage. That being said i think all the teams including the Rangers have been awful just awful in the East. But we know the Rangers will fire Lavs and trade half the team. They are being accused of tampering with Ottawa’s Brady Now Barzy made bad passes showing his rust that were scoring opportunities from the point. I agree George has to play. He’s only 20. We need that spark. If Wally becomes a good player with the B’s it will look awful for Lou.
I hope Wally makes good in Boston, he's a very likable guy. The lack of effort by this team is maddening. They can't put together a solid 60 minute effort, let alone a few games in a row. The East is wide open, but the Rangers, as you said, will do something about it whether it's trades or a coaching change or whatever. Lou has to figure out something or ownership has to get someone who will. Thanks for the comment, alexkatsanos8475. Always good to hear from you. LGI
Hood 🌄, Gil. How are you? An ugly win on Thursday and an even uglier loss to Chicago in regulation, despite having Barzy back in the lineup. Looks like that tirade they got from Patrick Roy didn't help. Anthony DuClair's still on IR. Oliver Wahlstrom was placed on waivers, and the Bruins got their hands on him. They put Engvall on waivers, too. Hero, Barzy, and Pellach just for being back. 🐐 Community effort. I don't like that their sitting, Isiah George out either. I hope they don't send him back to Bridgeport. Ilya Sorokin's getting a little too much time in goal. He's not playing too bad ; however, I hope he doesn't have a relapse. HAPPY 🎂, AUSTIN ZORNACK. Hear from you later, Gil, but before I go, I was 👀 game1 of the quarterfinals between the Islanders and The Edmonton Oilers from 1981. It was the first ⏲️ they faced each other, and it was a showdown between 20 year old Wayne Gretzky and 24 year old Bryan Trottier. The young men against the boys. Even though Gretzky scored a goal, the Islanders ran them out of the Coliseum. Also, even though it was like a Cinderella story when they took the broom to Montreal, the Islanders made sure they weren't getting the glass slipper at our expense when they took them out in 6. Now LET'S GO ISLANDERS.
Ah, the 81 series vs the Oilers. That was a great series, so much talent on both teams. The Isles need to play better because no excuse the way they played against Chicago. Hoping for better once Duke and Bo return. Thanks for the comment, Cindy. LGI
I don't think Roy has done a good job as coach. The team isn't disciplined like they were under Trotz. The results are the same as they were under Lambert. The team is sloppy and doesn't play defense.
Hard to argue MrAschiff. I guess the question is whether any coach can get more out of this bunch. I don't blame Roy, but you're right, he hasn't solved the team's problems. Thanks for the comment and LGI
Even if everyone was healthy I don't think this team could beat an egg. Trade as many as you can. Stock pile draft picks. Fire Lou. Make Roy GM. Go after Quinville. Done
I'd love to see that happen, but I'll believe it when I seeit. Quenneville is a proven winner, but there's some off ice issues that the tea would need to figure out. Thanks for the comment, Joseph. LGI
We'll see if they go that route. I don't think they will. You'll probably see George and Hutton rotating. George needs to play, he won't develop as a player in the press box. Thanks for the comment, mrjghoward. LGI

Don't lump Wahlstrom with those two other players. He's a bust.

Sorry to hear that, Kai. It's frustrating watching this team right now. Thanks for the comment and LGI.
