This looks so good! I'll definitely try it out.
I like black beans but I hardly ever eat them because I never really know what to do with them, besides tossing them into the plate as side dish to rice or burgers - I really like mushroom and black bean burger actually and I should make them more often... And it's one of those things that I only enjoy when I get a specific desire to eat them. This will add variety!

Lovely recipe Bumbi . It looks exactly like dal makhni. What is the Indian name for black beans and pinto beans? I was wondering whether I could add onion too with the tomato garlic and ginger while blending? Can’t wait to try out this recipe. Thanks Bumbi. Have a great weekend 🌸

    • @CurriesWithBumbi

Unfortunately I don’t know the Indian name for black beans. Pinto beans is chitra rajma. Usually onions are not included in dal makhni but I don’t believe in all that. You can definitely use onions. If using onions add it to your pressure cooker while boiling the beans. Have a great weekend my friend.

Do you have any other recommendations with other beans? Lima beans or pinto beans or black eyed peas?
Can we take Classic rajma recipe and replace red kidney beans with pinto beans? Will it taste the same?
Or maybe you have other recommendations for using those beans?
