I must confess I loved the way this Battle Report video is made, it takes a match that's typically one to two hours long and summarizes it. It makes the game look way better, I've seen lengthy BPs. Thank you for the video.
Started with a blast. Very fun. When doing a overrun, you can make contact with another enemy unit and thus count as charge for the next round of your opponent. However you cannot fight a second time in your own round. Unless the enemy unit you touch is engaged in a combat with another friendly unit and the combat hasn't been solved yet. I think....
I looked up the rules on pursuing into a fresh enemy and can’t see where it says you can’t attack again. All it says is you can’t attack if the enemy you pursued into is engaged in combat and has already done their combat phase.
@@DwainiacWarhammer Last paragraph on page 157. Of the three possible situations of "Pursuit into a New Combat" (i.e., already engaged but not yet selected this round, already engaged and already selected for combat this round, and not already engaged), the only situation where the instruction to fight again this round applies is the first one. 'Otherwise,' they become locked in place until the next player's turn. Note that Pursuit into a New Combat is a subheading of Pursuit into a fresh Enemy.
Always great to wake up to another Dwainiac battle report! Another fun one. I regret to say I can only give it 9.5/10 though, as I can't in good conscience give 10/10 to any report that doesn't feature Bob and Steve 😂
There's a few charges where you say the units failed by 1'' or 2'' and then move them right in front of enemy, but that's not how failed charges work. If you can't make it in, you only move the amount rolled on dice (so the higher of two dice plus any swiftstride), not the whole distance
Loved the battle report! When you run down a fleeing unit, you stop moving when you catch them (you don’t move the full distance that you roll on the pursuit roll)
1. Pursuing units halt when they reach the fleeing unit. They don’t move the entire amount of inches rolled if they reach the pursued unit 2. When you fail a charge, only move the amount of inches on the dice 3. You cannot counter charge an enemy that over ran an enemy and made contact with your unit 4. Bolt throwers deal 2 wounds on a single shot 5. BSB re rolls break tests 6. Helblaster Volley Gun does AP-1 7. You can’t volley fire after moving 8. Wizards engaged in combat can’t dispel 9. Reavers only have a 6+ armour save 10. If you overrun into a fresh unengaged enemy, you don’t do combat until next turn Can anyone beat it?
Not knowing the Empire or the High Elves army lists (and not knowing specifics on model characteristics or special rules), and only basing myself on what you show in the video (plenty of times I only have a recap and not the number of dice rolled, etc.), here is what I found for general rules : I did not see any panic test or any restrain test. It does not mean they were not made, but remember they exist ! I thus cannot judge if something is *not* done, only if something is done incorrectly. 4:07 Does not count as error, but if 9 was made as casting result, the text is incorrect and you dispel on a 10+ because you need to exceed the casting result (page 110) 4:59 You mean "the high elf turn, round 2" ? A round is composed of the turn of each player (page 115) 6:30 You cannot have a charge reaction to a contact with a pursuit move due to overrun. You only get charge reactions during the "declare charges & charge reactions" subphase of the movement phase (page 120), so no countercharge here 6:57 The knights must maximize models in base to base contact and shall do a small wheel to do so (page 126) 8:03 On a failed charge you only move the distance of the charge roll, here 3" (page 121) - same thing at 11:22 10:10 When a pursuing unit catches the curs, it halts and do not go further (page 157) Thanks for the battle report, it was entertaining to watch !
@@DwainiacWarhammer There are generally 6 rounds in a game. Each round contains a turn for each player. A round and a turn is not the same thing (see page 115). In the video you said "High elf round, turn 2". Saying "High elf round" has no significance. Saying "High elf turn, round 2" would have meant something. I was just picky :)
Follow up question. How do you like TOW compared to 6th edition? I feel the vamps have more options, even with their loss of march within range of the general.
@@armasaurusrex3158 I love some changes and hate some changes. When it comes to Vamps I love the Indomitable special rule but I HATE necromancy (and magic in general) in TOW compared to 6th. Why’d they nerf Necromancy so hard?😩
This while presentation style could so easily have fallen flat and been cringe. But you crazy son of a bitch, you pulled it off. Great editing and script delivery. very entertaining
This was a good report! Remember, the High Elf mage can reroll the first failed casting result per round. I'm like 90% sure the high elf mage isn't using the Ruby Ring, which doesn't get this benefit
I do think next edition or addition to the rules, Large number non elite units need to have more use. Cause it seems like they just dont do much a lot of the time besides tieing up a big unit for a turn. Which is fine for chaff units, but I do think more standard units should have a bit more bite to them.
Love your batreps! But quite a lot of rules mistakes if I might say.. Helblasters have ap-1. Seaguard cannot volley fire if they move. Single bolts from bolt throwers do 2 wounds. Mages engaged in combat cannot dispel. Failed charges means you just move the charge roll. Not sure why the steam tank didn't shoot at the central bolt thrower with its cannon..
Great and entertaining battle report! Props for the correct pronunciation of 'Chrace' not sure about Ellyrian though 😄. Love your wicked sense of humour.
@@cmdrsausage9669 Haha awesome! Keep your eye out for Dark Elf batreps when they’re painted… which at this rate I’ll need to commission them so they’ll be done well before 2030😅
The have so many conventions like this in the Philippines. This one was Toycon. A mix of tabletop games like Warhammer 40k, Old World, Underworlds were showcased along with Conquest, Star Wars Armada etc. It was June 15-16 just this last week
Mounts and riders are one model now. Wounds and toughness just gets added to the rider’s 🥲 something I don’t like about TOW😩 Also it ended on Turn 5 because we played the Random Game Length Pitched Battle. See pg. 289 of the rulebook
@@DwainiacWarhammer same thing happened in 6th edition with chariots. If you see in previous editions chariots were separated models like mounted monsters. So now both chariots and mounted monsters are considered unique models, more coherent.
@@DwainiacWarhammer IDK if I like that rule either. So a high elf prince on a dragon will have 6 wounds added to his 3? All I have is the 6th edition rule book. I tried looking it up but it wasn't very clear. I'm guessing they just round up the rider's toughness to the mounts. Usually, these games last 5 or 6 turns. It just seems it would benefit if there was a clear winner. If one army hasn't been completely routed by then. Or a player concedes. Maybe another turn or two. I know it was a random-length battle but still, I wanted to know if the high elf prince lived or died. Anyway still really enjoy your videos and commentary. These battles that show the highlights to me say that you respect people's time. While other channels say, "I hope you have 3 hours to kill and want to see an hour of dice rolling."

I don't doubt that two dragons, phoenixes and a handful of elves will win more games at tournaments. But look at all the elves you can get in doing it this way - you could even think of it as an army of them!
