Really enjoyed this. More of a casual basement vibe compared to the big channels. And i really enjoy it. The aesthetics of an old world battle are gorgeous. Takes me back. All the best with the second channel!
Best quality battle reports on UA-cam. Retro/charming set- the citadel battle mat really takes me back to the 3rd edition rulebook photography. I mostly like that it didn’t take me 3 hours to finish. 35 minutes is the perfect length.
Wonderful battle report! One thing i noticed in the last combat: i don't think the combat bonus for lance stacks with close order. I believe when you are in the lance formation, you are not in the close order formation, so you only get the +1 for lance and not the +1 for lance plus the +1 for close order. I do not think lance is a type of close order formation based on my reading of the lance rules. If I'm wrong, someone please tell me, though, because I would love even more combat res for my knights!
@@wakankinyanoh I'm the type of guy that you can literally key my car I won't feel a thing. I didn't even realize setting them on their side would trigger perfectionists lol but I can see that. Like the dude you brush against his truck he's losing his mind worried about the paint.
Incredible paintjob guys! as a dark elves player I specially admire that side. Btw I noticed various Inmune to psicology units like the Kbys reacting to a charge by fleeing, but the ITP rule says that flee cannot be chosen as a charge reaction.
Throughly enjoyed this battle report not too short not too long and very well narrated look forward to more got me fired up for some old world now great stuff chaps
So so so happy to see battle reports from you, Eric! Wicked video, loved the Trebuchet but that's been said already 😂 Patiently waiting for more amazing vids from ya, I hope this becomes a more regular thing Cheers bud!
Oh dude sick!! I legit asked you to post a new bret battle report yesterday on your main channel. I like to think you whipped it up in response to that haha
Wow such a fun game! I've never played fantasy before, but absolutley gripping game. The armies were gorgeous and I want to see the rematch! I love all your videos Eric, I love the variety!
Big rules oversight that is having a big impact on the battle: When you flee from a charge out of range, the charge doesn't fail, the chargers still move the full charge move.
Great guys and love this format! I'm sure others have pointed these out, but just in case a few friendly pointers =) 1) Terror check when being charged, not when charging them (unless higher unit strength), & 2) Duke should have moved full distance vs fleeing Kharibdryss, a flee reaction doesn't make the charge a fail.
really enjoyable watch. Other Warhammer channels are way too over the top with cheesy or fake interactions from the host players; you guys were super chill and was a good watch, Thanks for the vid! Im bout to get into warhammer old world, excited to see the revival of it
Pretty sure the dark elf player would have kept its cold one riders's banners. They don't die when they flee anymore, they just give more victory points if you wipe them out (through combat or pursuit). Great game anyway, and best looking army in the (old) world!
Such a joy to see a battle report that is professional and well presented compared to the other more well known content "creators" out there. Anyway, great job. Looking forward to more good sir. Have to also mention the wonderful paint jobs. Fantastic!
So nice report. And really fun battle. There were some really decisive rolls, like the repetition of the leadership of the cold ones knights. I really liked how the charge of the grial knights made it look like the pegasus was drinking from a grial.😅
Absolutely love this battle report format and really looking forward to see more :) One question: At Bretonnias 4th turn, when the knights overran into the dark elf lady, wouldn"t there have been the possibility of 'Leaping Aside' for her resp. must there be a line of sight?
Ok someone correct me if i'm wrong but i think the unicorn must be on a 40x60 base and is considered a monstrous cavalry. I search on the internet not all agree that a unicorn can join a cavalry unit because of the "Clumsy" rule. I think a damsel on unicorn should be able to join a knight unit personally... Great battle report anyway, thanks !
A victory for Bretonnia! The Dark Elves came with a solid force of slavers keen to take many Bretonnias back to Naggorth. Knights for their entertainment in their arenas, peasent workers for their mines and factories and no doubt the most beautiful noble maidens for their harems of pleasure. And what they leave with? Nothing! Not only did most of them die in their evil attempt, they lost a 1000 year old Sorceress in the process! Stulking back to their waiting ships, 3 nobles, a Lord and 2 monsters return, the rest of their foul party dead and not a single slave or piece of treasure to show for it. And the Bretonnians? 1 Knights Errant has earned his spurs and will have many tales to tell in the taverns on how, alone and flying the banner of the army, he charged the Elven nobles! The Lady survived along with the Duke and his trusty Griffon, both ready to defend the Realm again and again. And though the field is littered with the bodies of many peasants and Knights, each one or them will have songs sung about them! Especially the Brave bowman, standing face to face with hell itself, stood their ground to buy time for their Lord and Saints, the Grail Knights, to stave off the rest of the dark host!
Much prefer this style of battle report to a lot of what's out there. Understanding the players thoughts and decisions rather than 4 hours of watching people roll dice, with no clear view/understanding of what's going on
@@EricsHobbyBattleReports Yea I think this style of bat-rep is way more consise than those ones I see alot of for 40k. It would be cool to see you do dynamic positioning of models for like pre-gams stills. I think the flatness of the board kind of makes that slightly difficult though. Side-note it feels way more personal seeing you play your army having watched you build it and apply your lore to it's creation, really cool. Also glad you seemed to have more fun playing this one than the last with the tanky tomb dragon hogging that one game.
Terror tests are only when the terror causing unit charges, there’s no test when you charge them, fear only triggers when you have a higher unit strength, the kor should have made the charge. When you flee/pursue, unlike older editions you don’t roll simultaneously and the pursuer rolls higher you die.now, you roll, your flee, move the fleeing unit, then roll the pursuer, if they make contact they wipe out the fleeing unit, this matters two fold. In your game, as soon as the knights fled through the sorceress, she should have tested for panic , if she held, the knights would slam into her there was no way for them to catch the cold ones even if they rolled a low flee vs a high pursuit roll. Second as it’s measured by models now, it’s possible in certain situations such as fleeing through a unit in your rear, they don’t need to actually roll as high as you do to catch you seeing as they aren’t moving as far.. The grail knights were also blunted when the cold ones followed them up so no lance formation Otherwise loved the format of battle report
Your knight with the red and yellow scheme with a black diagonal bar across the shield, was that chosen as a mark of bastardy or just a cool colour scheme? Love the video btw, first one of yours I've seen.
Great battle report Eric, perfect length and well shot. Thanks for sharing. That Kharibdyss is beautiful - any chance your friend could share the names of paints he used and any recipes for highlighting and shading?
Great match, hope to watch more soon. Love the format, avoid the 3 hour raw dumps that other channels drop, this you can sit down and enjoy easily. Hope you will post more frequent in the future, really liking your battlereps
is it possible to get a link to the list, I followed along on old world builder as you were listing what you had for the Bretonnians and i only got to 1974 points.
How did u guys resolve the stand and shoot reaction on the hyppogriff lord? Could all of the crossbowmen shoot at it? Because the initial position he was in, nor the angle in which the cossbowmen were aligned, didn't seem to allow a lot of shots.
Yassssssss! Thank you Eric!!!! Do you have any tips on panting some old Warhammer Nippon models? I just sloted them in their bases. I am Thing sand for base and white white paint for that retro look. What do you think?
I suspect your trebuchet was failing so spectacularly because it was facing the wrong direction the whole time 😂

True facts, lol
100% agree. Old hammered talks about BA old GW games too.
Really loving this 30m battle report. Quick summaries of what happened is a great format.
Brevity is so difficult to come by for many battle reports so it is most welcome. Especially for Warhammer Fantasy
Perfect length for battle reports, I really appreciate the effort that must go into editing and producing these.
These are the best battle reports online. I really appreciate that you summarize it.
I really really appreciate the work that went into this. Getting an entertaining battle report under an hour is a real feat worthy of the grail.
Everyone forgets about Evade (p.206) - that pegasus sorc could have probably avoided being pursued into.
Good catch! Thats why i really make batreps, to have the community tutor me on rules i missed in my games 😂

Remember a charging unit moves its full charge distance if the charged unit flee, its not considered a failed charge (Rulebook pg 129). Nice armies!.
Oops! Still unlearning rules from old editions. Good catch

SOVL overload. I love both armies.
Great terrain layout! There's actually stuff in the middle of the board!
Which actually breaks game rules...(not fan of that rule)
@bakuchidancer Which rule is that? Honestly curious, I had no idea.
Tow terrain layout rules say no terrain 12" center...
Not fan. I'll just ignore it
