Hi I'm the creator of this tool, thank you for making a video about it.
I was taking a short break to make the updated versions of the terrainer due to some health reasons. In the upcoming version(s), for every biome, I am also adding the important parameters in the node group to the modifier panel so even less experienced users can make use of it without having a geometry node editor open :)
Really awesome tool - thanks for making it! :)
When I ask to buy the free version gumroad ask me for $5 no idea why this is happening.
Thanks so much for this excellent Terrain Generator.....I've tried & have several, and
this is much easier to use, and produces great results. 👍👍
@@TheCGEssentialsHello Justin, there is a new version out which is more optmized and better. It's called the AutoTerrainer V2.
I got the updated version of this terrain generator this month and I find it impossible to do a camera fly through animation. I can otherwise pan, zoom or navigate the camera manually, but as soon as I keyframe the animation and hit play, the playback is at 0.67 FPS. I don't know what's different about the playback of keyframes vs the free panning and zooming, but it makes it impossible to preview the animation. The original version of this I could get a reasonable 15 FPS animating a camera. Something changed with this version.
Tried both Cycles and EEVEE and both are sluggish. Even wireframe is sluggish.
At first i was like "oh no, not another terrain generator" but this one is actual a nice one. I surely am going to play with this one. Thanks Justin.
I'll definitely look into ways to try to turn the geometry into game ready thanks for sharing
Hey bro, As always, really good content, good explanation and always straight to the point, thnx a lot
I grabbed the freebie a few days ago. Going to play around with it using different instanced materials & nature assets to see if I can make generators for different biomes and terrain styles. Really cool little tool though. I'm always looking for things that allow me to do really fast look-dev and pre-vis comps .. this definitely fits the bill.
It SEEMED like it would be pretty easy to swap in new objects and change the materials - didn't test it, but I can't imagine it would be that hard
I'm guessing you could point the instancing nodes at other assets in too for trees, houses etc. Interesting and insanely good time saving piece of code!!!
I think you could probably just swap out the assets in the collections, which is even faster :)
THANK YOU FOR FREE ADD ON !!!!
awesome 🥰, last step is important!
Lol - everyone gets mad when I leave that step out of tutorials
Thanks for the tip on these free assets. Nice quality grass and ground material, but It's not apparent though, esp. for a beginner, how people can use this as a quick way to add basic terrain in their own project, since there is no add-on interface for adding new terrain. After trying a few different things, this is what I did:
I appended the collection named "collection" into a new file, deleted everything I didn't want, as well as most of the original mesh, and and rebuilt it. This will keep the grass and ground material intact, and they grow as you edit the mesh. Edit on the z access, and you won't have grass growing on that part. Then I guess I could save the file and reuse it, or maybe add the collection to the assets browser.
There are a couple of problems with this approach. 1. It's just as time consuming as starting from scratch, adding materials, assets and a particle system to distribute the assets. 2. With geometry nodes, I don't know a way to get the grass or any other assets to grow where I want them, and not all over everything, I assume someone who knows how to use geometry nodes would know how to do this. I'm not there yet. Any suggestions?
This looks soooo cooool. But i have one question. How can i add a road to it? I wanna to create a scene and add a dirt road to it, so it will naturally blend into it. In the final, there will be going a vehicle on this road.
Hi everyone! Let me know what you think about this terrain generator in the comments below! :)
How to you add it to an already existing project
Greatly explained.. very appreciated thanks !
My idea is to make my project in Archicad .. than making the terrain in blender and use it in D5 render as added object to my initial geometry made in Archicad and opened in D5 render ..
Now the deal would be perfect if D5 displays perfectly what is done in blender I think there’s no problem with the cliff and rocks but us it translating correctly grass and vegetation ?! That’s the whole idea ..
When you explain it, it looks very easy then .... I open it up and I have no idea of where to go 😁 or how to apply it to a real project
Can we add these material and looks in ANT Landscape..?
Hey Justin! Thanks for another great tutorial! Great job! 😜👍
@unicornhuntercg, THANKS for this amazing Terrain Generator! 👍👍
It's very easy to use, and renders very quickly in EEVEE. Looking forward to more biomes.
exported the model to glb or fbx, the textures on landscape are all wonky. I did apply the nodes, as well as using realize geo. any way to fix this. the textures are distorted and stretched
Im having an issue with blender and its not letting me export anything as an fbx, its giving me a python error i've tried replacing UV mapping and everything any idea on how to fix this?
Do you no Unreal Engine I'm having some problems with some I don't no what to call it but I put a roof on the house and it has light shimmering and it looks like water effects on the walls and roof and clouds effects or something.
I'm going to make a short video showing what is going on today I don't no how to fix it or what is going on.
when i pick the "terrain" in the modifier tab the object disappers :(
Same
Btw when i apply the terrain geometry nodes my plain just disappears i don't see the displaced result
Did you add the realize geometry node?
@@TheCGEssentials I said it wrong sorry, i meant that when i add the geometry node to the plane the plain disappears (so i'm not even applying it yet)
How can I use an add-on that uses the geometry node system when opening a new Blender file ?
do you know how now ? because i want to know lol
I don't know, but what i did is, I did what I want to do in the same file provided for the geometry nodes, then deleted the old geometries, so I ended up with only what I did.
how to import this in my project file ?
This is way beyond my Blender skills so far, as I'm just designing fairly simple objects for 3D printing, so I'm not sure if this is a stupid question, but can you 3D print the end result of this?
I think if you add a "realize instance" node and then apply the modifier you should be able to export as an STL and print.
@@horrorview Thanks. I'll give it a try some time.
Well, the landscape is an infinitely thin thing so you'd have to extrude it to make a water tight 3D object. The grasses are panels with texture and alpha maps so they again would be 2D panels. But you could switch the grasses off and have a terrain generator that you could use with other objects for printing.
@@PrinceWesterburg I was thinking of printing the basic terrain, and adding grass etc using normal modelling methods.
So frustrating, its just not scattering the grass for me, have tried everything .... still doesn't work.
Yeah the grass won’t pop up for me
my node tree looks NOTHING LIKE THAT, I NEED HELP BUT asap
Do you have a Discord server?
I do not
HHHHHWAHATS UP GUYS!
Ofcoarse I find out about a million amazing plug ins for blender when I don’t have my desktop anymore for a while😭😭
My poor gtx 1660 not play this node
I love that the reviews are just AIs lmao
Lol - I enjoyed that as well 🤣
...and his mom 😄😉These reviews are pure gold!😉
