- I didn't think I would enjoy a hack with this much vanilla weirdness patched out (no walljumps, no speed oscillation, no sprite interaction frame rule) but playing this actually turned out to be a lot of fun
- The level design in this hack focuses more on single setups instead of having the setups flow into each other. This tends to introduce more breaks, which is good for the TAS

this has confirmed to me that "love in the time of lexapro" is one of the funniest things anyone has ever named one of their songs
Even for a TAS this had some wild strats

How is the music so hd in a snes rom?
the music uses almost all of the 64kb aram and the the sounds are repeating loops so that saves some aram.
Some music is kinda weird, but it's overall really pleasant.
if you liked the music, you should check out Oneohtrix Point Never's discography (most of the OST of this romhack is his work), it's really good

why does the end of the level trigger, when it freezes... what's that about? is it poorly made?

@@TheUltimateRare the original game doesnt have that happen because all songs needed are already loaded. They dont take up that much space. Level songs, overworld songs, and end credits are all separate though, but we dont see the game "freezing" because the screen is black. Called "banks". These are 3 banks.
When adding custom music, it no longer works like that. The only songs that are ALWAYS loaded, no matter if you are in a level, overworld, etc, are "global" songs, like Death, P-Switch, Starman, Level win, Boss win, keyhole, game over... Every other songs are all seperate. So if another songs start, it will hang for a bit.
This song here could be placed in the "global songs" list, but it would take up a lot of memory. Especially with high-quality samples used here.

Humans are 7 minutes slower currently, there's still room for improvement.
The Kaizo Mario genre as a whole, while heartlessly brutal and frustrating, is one the most rewarding experiences you'll find in all of gaming. It's all about challenging yourself through high speed puzzle solving. Trust me, there's no high quite like finally beating that level you've been grinding for hours and hours.
You're gonna die and gonna die a lot. You gotta be okay with that; if not, this genre is not for you. Even the best players in the world can take hours to make it through their first time, so don't get disheartened. Perseverance and persistence will inevitably win the day! You'll die less often as time goes on and your skill increases, but if you're genuinely not having fun, then stop torturing yourself. It's okay; it's not for everyone.
I'd say levels 2, 3 & 4 could be potentially RTA viable with enough practice. Everything else, not so much. Most of the run comes down to simply not dying. If one were to perform a deathless run, they would most certainly get the world record. So far, no speed runner has managed to accomplish this.
