Roger, you are one of very few UA-cam vlogers who give us absolute joy when you post a new video. The atmosphere of place, of embracing life and your passion for sailing is inspiring…thank you🤗
I know nothing about sailing, but keep coming back here for the peaceful company, sound of lapping water, seabirds, and the peaceful music you select. Love it. Thank you Roger
Another excellent video, Roger. The thought just came to me that, after a skiing accident in the early 1980s, I took up an opportunity to go sailing just to strengthen my body, mainly day cruising in small boats and dinghies. And at the first first sight of the wind being captured by the sail and feeling the power, the movement, and the rush of the water bubbling under and around the hull, all my environmental impact thoughts became focussed. I was instantly entranced by sailing and viewing your videos invariably reminds me of why I live my life as I do. Small boat sail cruising could help many people realise all the beauty in the world that needs to be looked after.
Hello! I am a longtime subscriber who has never commented before, but today, I want to tell you how much I LOVE your videos/channel. I am in the United States, born and living in the Southwest, which is an arid desert climate currently experiencing drought conditions. I have only been on water a few times in my life, but I hope one day to have an experience such as your videos so beautifully show. You are a true artist, in every sense of the word. Many of your video shots/scenes appear otherworldly; they are so beautiful as to be literally mesmerizing. Also, I often find myself singing "Footprints in the Sand." I even purchased a Breton smock, naturally dyed with madder root, so as to live the dream as fully as possible! Many Thanks, With Best Wishes to You for More Sailing Ahead . . . !
@@RogerRoving Wow Mary, I can't imagine not being near the sea. I also love Roger's videos and bought a small sailing boat this summer because I want to follow the master, if you ever get a chance to visit Ireland .......
Those WaterShed dry bags are the best. Been using them for many years. Thanks for the continued videos. It’s got me motivated to get back home to finish the restoration of my 1973 Cape Dory 14’ Handy Cat. Hope our paths cross one day soon. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Another terrific insight into why being on the water is so special and so wonderfully therapeutic. Your videos speak for themselves which is a rare treat. And yes, you're very lucky to be surrounded by clean French water.....
Roger, I have enjoyed your videos for some years now and at this time I cannot live near or travel on the waters. Your videos remind me of how much I loved the inland waterways of the state of New Jersey U.S.A. For your videos are so nice and simple and nautical, that I enjoy each one, even though I live in the Mojave desert.
Dear Roger, I am new on your channel and do not really have an affinity for sailing boats. But your videos are so relaxing, fascinating and focusing on nature, that I could not stop watching them :-) Just great, thank you very much! All the best from Switzerland, Andy
Charming, looks a lovely relaxing sail. And thanks for giving a nod to what I can only assume you are referring to the woeful state of our UK rivers! So sad, and greed as usual is pivotal!!
Thank you for another brilliant video, what better could you ask for on a lazy Saturday morning at home…..tranquil,relaxing and set me up for the day ahead.
Roger Barnes et son magnifique Avel Dro qui se promène dans une de mes balade dominicale préférée. One of your most enjoyable videos for a while. Thank you. Circumstances have kept me and my dinghy off the water for a few weeks now, so it's nice to get a vicarious fix.
Always enjoy your videos Roger. I just finished working from sun up to sun down. I am setting here drink a beer, snacking on some popcorn and watching a lovely video. Thanks you.
Saved for later. Will need it. Had a relative bussed into hospital, today, but things looking ok, now. Waiting on final word as I type. Glass of the amber nectar, a mince pie and a Roger Barnes video will hit the spot, this evening!
Another lovely video of a beautiful part of Brittany. Locquirec has become our regular stopping point when towing the boat over from Devon on the ferry, going to eastern Brittany from Roscoff. We ‘camped ‘ there on “Foxwhelp” at the Locquirec campsite on our way back from La Rance just last week. Despite an awful forecast we spent a week tshirt sailing in late October!
Merci Roger ! ;-)
Cheers Roger, your videos are so inspiring & they pull on my heart strings everytime,so much joy in messing around with small boats,a life long passion &pre-occupation that never gets old,as you are the best at portraying this life on the water!!thankyou,ol mate!! As we keep our sailboat in Roscoff, it is really delightful to see a video of ”our playground". Having 1,5m draft makes us weary of sailing too close to the rocks or into unknown rivers, so I was keen to see your trip. With twin keels, we can however dry out, but best to know on what, and if it is reasonably plane...! Was that an epirb I spotted in the stern storage of your boat? Thank you for sharing!
Delightful as always. How do you feel about the Ventile now? I have a Ventile jacket, which I love, but I'd be interested to know whether you'd pick it again if making a new tent?
Hello mr Barnes . I am contemplating building an Ilur. A ply kit version. As a retired boatbuilder it has its attractions , you can get it CNC cut, but i plan to cut it out myself. I have enough tools to do it !! I worked for Cornish crabbers for 20 years, and most of their boats had a galv steel center plate , from the 17 upwards. I have seen the odd Shrimper in the videos you make. Q ,. Avel dro has an alloy plate, would you think a galv steel plate would make much difference, plate down it might? Up not so much,. Keep making the excellent videos.
Thanks for the great video, Roger! Do you ever get bothered by nocturnal arachnid stowaways while camping? I’m always inspired by your trips but think about all the creepy crawlers that want to eat me as I’d try to sleep in a harbor. My dinghy is always infested but I never see that part of sailing in your videos. Thanks again
Hi Roger! I am looking your "vlog(s)" since s long time and never let/made a comment, but today i want to tell you, that this video is fantastic! All your videos are really nice, but this mood of calmness and simplicity decorated with wonderful landscape and various impressions of Brittany makes me: happy! As a German i went with my motobike to this years "Wheels & Waves-2022" to Biarritz and on my way back home i visited the Isle de Mont St. Michel first time in my life. Besides: It was my first tip to Brittany. My short trip to this extraordinary masterpiece of archtitecture and my night in a small Hotel of Pontorson inspired me. Brittanys coast must be spectecular as far as your videos showed it so far. I will come back with my small ship in the next future-thats for sure! I am now refurbishing a small and over 50 years old english boat: a HALCYON 23 which i found in the Netherlands nearby Amsterdam. More or less "forgotten" and in a bad looking condition, but worth to bring it back to "sea-life"! Didnt published some vids of it but will do it, when she´s sailing in the next spring. Her name will be: Plan C. I would like to visit your recommended places with my sailing vessel in the near future and: probably we gonna meet each other at one of those places...!? I would appreciate it! Best luck (and health!) for you and your wonderfiul boat, Linus
Nice video Roger, a couple of questions if I may, 1 what model of GoPro do you use 2 how is the ventile fabric now after you have used it for a while and your early shrinkage issues.
What a pity !!! You sailed in my garden and I was not there with you !!! (my boat can be seen at the beginning of the vidéo, half a second). Ok, I was in hospital (can't at different places at the same time). As you sail only one time in the same place, I suppose you will not come back in Locquirec ?
