We fitted a set of bearmach branded engine mounts to my brothers 300tdi disco. On tightening the stud nut the stud broke off, the studs on the non genuine ones are glued into the mounts. From memory the genuine ones are welded on. The genuine mounts are a lot better quality.
Funny, but the Britpart ones (renown for poor quality) are screwed in like the originals - they are screwed into aluminium and I remove the lower studs to make fitting the engine to the box easy - then once in place - screw the back in - not a problem
Those bent ears on the bracket are specifically to limit the longitudinal movement that breaks up the rubbers. Like you said, longitudinal tie rods were fitted to most UK MoD Series LRs for the same reason and to stop the bigger fans on FFR vehicles contacting the radiator, but they also do a fantastic job of making the hand brake work really well as the linkage on those older vehicles pulls the whole transmission forward and loses efficiency in the process; fit the tie and the transmission barely moves, so all that hand brake lever movement gets used inside the brake actuator instead. That doesn't affect the coil sprung models as they have a Bowden cable between lever and brake assembly that doesn't pull the transmission forward. There is a world of difference between different brands of engine mounting rubber. Most of them are cheap and too hard, and that has included LR Gen Parts for the last decade or so. For the 2.5 engines prior to the 300Tdi, the best quality come from Glencoyne Engineering in Suffolk. He has them specially made now with a grade that absorbs vibration far better than the parts available from LR, Britpart, Allmakes and now Bearmach too, though I though he originally sourced them from Bearmach. But if the original mounts are still in good order, they'll likely be far better than new mounts, unfortunately.
Excellent ... Living the dream with bent 300tdi mount 'wings' at the moment ... deciding if I should heat them up and straighten them or just go to town with a heavy rubber mallet! Where's that link you mentioned?
Well it was waiting for a Puma bonnet, but that took ages to come and then there was no mountings for the prop Mountings coming Monday, the I can get it to the body shop Mike
How do you find the replacement 300 mounts for stiffness, I put some new bobbin style ones on my 200 swapped 90 and nearly shook it to bits, put the old soft ones back on it after!

Yet another great video mike 👍🏻
Thanks - just a few notes
Mike
The 300Tdi engine mounts can be used on the Thor V8 engine. That's what I did for my Discovery 2.
Good to know!

Never noticed much difference - but they are totally different to the 200 mounts
