I've often used a ballpoint or a gelpoint pen to do quick sketches on note paper, the backs of envelopes, notebook paper, and sometimes in my sketchbooks, working without any initial pencils either just to challenge myself or as an exercise. Ordinary writing pens are great for doing quick drawings with. Just grab one, grab whatever paper with enough blank space is available, and start sketching.

There's something charming about drawing on envelopes. Is it the free paper? Turning spam mail into something pleasant to look at? Or challenging oneself to fit a picture into limited space? Glad to see someone else does this lol

Drawing with a ballpoint pen is fantastic. I feel as if I have more control over it than any other type of drawing pen. Shame its not very orthodox.
