On more on Palestine, I recommend Ten Myths About Israel, and also The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, both my Ilan Pappe.. and THANK you for addressing the genocide!! I respect you so much for it! As an Arab from the middle east its easy for me to know the truth, but when people from the west see it, i REALLY respect that because i know how much your media is biased and straight up racist. You rock! Keep going

Thank you for this comment and the recommendations 🫶 especially having studied rhetoric and communication, I’m blown away by the mass media coverage. It’s so easy to be misguided if you’re not on social media, following Palestinian ppl, etc. I appreciate you 🩷🇵🇸💪

There is no genocide in "palestine." It was never a country and will never be one.

You GET me when it comes to Poor Things. It is undoubtedly one of my favorite films, I’ve seen it upwards of 15 times already (unhinged, I know). And as much as I love the movie, the book really flips everything on its head not once, but twice-which I adored. So happy to hear you loved the book as well
Per your comments of On Palestine, really looking forward to reading it. Really recommend Minor Detail by Adania Shibli if you haven’t read that yet 🍉

omg 15 times is crazy but I totally understand. It's stunning. Im honored to have a top percentile poor things fan watching this video haha. And yes! Minor Detail is on my TBR I hope to get my hands on it soon :)

I’ve been wanting to read “cien años de soledad” since you first mentioned it and I just read the first chapter! This is my first classic-ish book that I’m reading for fun and I’m excited to dive into the other books you read! They all seem so interesting!

I'm committed to reading all of Bret Easton Ellis's books this year (and loved your ranking video btw). I only read two so far, but I am already looking forward to the Shards🤓 Also, felt similar on Slouching towards Bethlehem, though I always enjoy reading her books I came to the conclusion that maybe I'm more fascinated by the idea of Joan Didion rather than her actual body of work

Discovered your channel because I ordered Blue Lard and wanted to watch some reviews on UA-cam. And you were I think the only one who had a review about the book. Now I’m happy to have found your channel, hope you continue making content. Also want to recommend The sound and the fury by Faulkner. It’s such a good book, stream of consciousness and difficult but a very rewarding read.

I like to sometimes rec Little, Big by John Crowley for fans of One Hundred Years of Solitude. It's about a few generations of a family living in the country, on the edge of a world of magic.
Poor Things is great. I think the book takes it to another level of perspective. I really enjoyed another book of his, Lanark, too. It's like half Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, half Dante's inferno.
I need to get onto Sorokin.

omg! i dont know if you’ve read it already, bcs im new to your channel, but my dad is a really big fan of gabriel garcia marquez’s work and so i bought him a copy of pedro paramo cuz i heard is a work that inspired not only gabriel’s, but a lot of other latin american writers, and my dad loveddd it! if you liked the magical realism in one hundred years of solitude, then i think its a really good book to try, im planning on picking it up soon :)

I have a Hundred Years of Solitude on my desk right now, a long time favourite and one of those books you live with a come back to periodically from time to time. An adaption for Netflix has been in development for a while, will be difficult to translate to screen.
I liked the Poor Things book more than the film. I liked the film but it felt a bit over the top stylistically but I still enjoyed it.
The Palestine Laboratory: How Israel Exports The Technology of Occupation Around The World is another very good one on that subject. Edward W.Said - Orientalism is another great one. Edward was a Palestinian Philosopher and was forced to leave as a teenager with his family. The book is more a big picture overview of The Western Establishment othering of people from the east.

Wonderful recommendation thank you! And I know… I feel like it’s a bit pointless to adapt a book like HYOS. I’m expecting it to touch me emotionally and blow me away, the bar is high

Find someone who you respect but has completely different views to you. And read or listen to everything they have to say on a topic.

The Force by Don Winslow, The Big Nowhere by James Ellroy, and Freedomland by Richard Price are thrillers that're really well written, and they have incredible pace. Check them out.
