  • Got a Springfield 1911 Loaded Stainless in 45acp. Can't wait to get out and shoot it. Trigger feels great and once I redo the sights with some Yellow Glo paint they should work well enough. Thought I'd give ya'll a quick look at it before I did any mods. I'll post up another video after I get a chance to shoot it and show you the mods that I've done. Talk to ya'll later. TN.Frank Out.

    I got one 7 years ago. Mine came with the hard case, 4 magazines, 2 holsters, a cleaning kit, and all of the little wrenches/tools, etc. It was only about $600 brand new. What an absolute steal. I love it.
    I know this is bad... but I havent cleaned or oiled it in 7 years and it still functions flawlessly.

    Totally lucked out and picked one up in stainless steel at the end of 2019 along with the Springfield Armory “Gear Up” promotional package that included 5 OEM magazines, both a hard case and a nice soft range bag, an OWB paddle holster and a two magazine holster for $725. Literally a steal of a deal!!… Have run 600 flawless rounds thus far and what a great accurate shooter… 👍🏼😎

    Ended up buying loaded because Range Officer discontinued. After 1 1/2 years total wait for both orders. Lol they introduced Garrison and p35 to catalog. Thanks for heads up on WC products to replace 2 piece Guide rod.

    TN Frank, it is good to see you giving this 1911 pistol some love & respect. They are Awesome!! I hope this leads you to a 2nd 1911, as that is when you really seem to thoroughly enjoy the 1911 platform. Good luck, and stay safe out there. 😎🥳👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Beretta Sr.

    Pretty slick. Looking forward to seeing some range footage.
    As a side note: I realize that the included locks are often frowned upon the firearms community here in the United States, but for the firearms owners up in Canada (which includes me, I own guns in both countries) it makes life a little easier when you pick up your pistol/restricted firearms from the gun shops. Since up there as part of the transport laws you are required to double lock the piece during transport: One on the gun and one locking the case/container. ~Brad

    I noticed they saved some $$ with this Springer by laser printing the text instead of engraving the text like on my older 1911 SS Loaded. Still a fine shooter.

    Just ordered the parkerized version. Bought a XD9 a few months ago and my wife has sort of claimed that one as "hers" and gave me the go-ahead to get my own, haha. Figured a .45 was a no-brainer!

      Now that I'm older and wiser I've come to appreciate the 1911 platform. I shoot them better than any other type of semi-auto handgun. 45acp, even being as old as it is(9mm is actually older)is still a good choice. That big bullet makes a big hole even without expanding. I think you're going to enjoy your Springfield once you get it.

    Firstly, everyone seems to dislike the guide rod. Why would Springfield design a gun with so many people disliking the guide rod? I don't get it. I'm also a new gun owner. Secondly, you mentioned an 8 round mag. I just ordered a 7 round wilson combat. I guess I should have gone for the 8, but I didn't think it would fit. However, I guess the 8 round will feed properly??

    • @TennesseeFrank
      @TennesseeFrank  4 роки тому

      The main issue with the full length guide rod is doing one hand manipulation of the gun. If I'd have left it in when I took it out to shoot it my range session would have been short since some of my reloads were out of spec and locked the gun up. By pushing on the part of the slide below the barrel against the tailgate of my truck (with padding, of course) I was able to clear the malfunction. I could not have done that if the guide rod was still in the gun.

    • @highbrass3749
      @highbrass3749 4 роки тому

      The 8-10 round mags just stick out of the bottom of the pistol farther. I have a 10 round Wilson Combat mag and this same pistol, it works great.

    • @theia1653
      @theia1653 3 роки тому +1

      No one likes the full length guide rod cause you need a tool to field strip and it can work itself loose. None of the GI 1911s have them, not even the M45A1s, the short rod is combat proven for more than a century and there are no significant benefit to a full length. The general consensus is that 7 round is most reliable, and John Browning probably already knew the magazine could hold 8, but there shouldn't be issues with quality magazines, especially Wilsons.

    I really like those G10 grips. Are you sure those aren’t night sights on the gun already?

    • @TennesseeFrank
      @TennesseeFrank  4 роки тому

      Nope, just standard white 3 dot. The Parkerized models come with night sights but not the stainless guns.

  • @Marz916

    Why don't you like the full length guide rod? Good looking machine by the way.

    • @TennesseeFrank
      @TennesseeFrank  3 роки тому +3

      If I'd have had on in the gun when I tested it with my over sized handloads it'd have been locked up and there would have been no way to rack it to unlock it. With the G.I. system I put the muzzle of the gun below the barrel on the truck tail gate and gave it a firm push and it ejected the round.
      Full Length Guide Rods were made for lighter springs on competition guns to stop them from binding up, you don't need it when running a standard power recoil spring.

    I order mines on 9 mm as my first handgun. Do u think I should of chosen the 45. The reason I dint is because of the 9 round on the 9mm over a 7 round on the 45

    • @TennesseeFrank
      @TennesseeFrank  3 роки тому

      You can get 8 round 45acp magazines. That being said if it's your first handgun then 9mm will be easier to shoot and less expensive as well. Once you get some shooting under your belt give a 45acp 1911 a try and if you like it then you can buy one to go with the 9mm one that you already have. Thanks for the comment.

    Just curious why don’t you like the full length Guide rod? What’s the difference between the two?

    • @TennesseeFrank
      @TennesseeFrank  3 роки тому +1

      Because it makes the gun impossible to rack off of a hard surface if it gets locked up.

      The only thing I don’t like about my “Loaded” Springfield is that you have to have an Allen wrench to disassemble it with the one piece guide rod. This weapon is awesome, accurate and it shoots great. I am also considering replacing the front sight with a “fiber optic” sight.

  • @evansmith2279

    Why paint the sights, aren’t the “loaded” models equipped with tritium sights?

    • @TennesseeFrank
      @TennesseeFrank  2 роки тому

      Not all Loaded models have night sights as as you may have seen on my MC Operator video even the night sights are just tritium inserts, no white outline or anything.

    • @TennesseeFrank
      @TennesseeFrank  4 роки тому +1

      Nope, mine also had a full length guide rod. I just don't care for them on a self-defense handgun so I replaced it with the Wilson Combat G.I. guide rod and spring cap.

      LOL, this is probably my 7th or 8th 1911. I get em', fix em' up then sell them because I don't like "cocked n locked" carry. Well, being older(and somewhat wiser) it now no longer bothers me as much so I do plan on carrying this one from time to time. I'll probably carry the RO Compact when I get it quite a bit. It seems I've fallen in love with the 1911 all over again and it's pretty nice this time around.
