They should seriously make a broadway musical about this guy.
Yeah! They should also really get Lin Manuel Miranda to play the guy!
For last 60 years i tried reading about u.s history and specialty about founding fathers. It started on 1965 when I wrote a letter to united states embassy in Tehran to send me some books for our High school library . Whin two months I received 52 books published as wheel of the History containing the biography of most us presidents and hero’s of the various wars. I started reading these fascinating book until coming to United states in1969.
I continued reading more books to gain knowledge about this young country but never got enough of it.
UA-cam gave me the opportunity to learn more of these fascinating men. Alexander Hamilton was of of the founding fathers which i didn’t know very much about.
Thanks for this beautiful video. Uncle David. Houston.
You sound more patriotic than many who were born here. Thank you for enjoying our country and I'm glad you're a part of us!
It's awesome isn't it. And there is always more. There is alot of fluff too. It's the only war, that for the common people, was fought for principles. ✨🇺🇸✨😊✨
How cool to have access to all those books! i just got finished reading a great biography of Calvin Coolidge by Robert Sobel, which inspired me to start reading Coolidge's autobiography. Turns out--to me--that Calvin Coolidge was a man after my own heart!
He was an advocate of a very strong presidency (bad idea) and a federal central bank (worst idea). We are suffering the central bank problems now.
@@user-yp9fb1jb6mIt could be argued that Alexander Hamilton is the father of modern day Capitalism, the one & only economic system that hasn’t ended up in deaths of hundreds of millions of people. So although they may not have been the best ideas, they certainly weren’t the worst.
It could also be argued that without the financial systems he put in place, America would not have prospered & become the superpower it has.
& that’s coming from a Brit.
You’re welcome
From a Canadian...I've watched all of your documentaries on the founding fathers and am impressed with your even-handed coverage of all of them, pointing their faults and failings as well as their strengths. Very refreshing...thank you for making these videos available to the general public...
I've only watched 24 mins. so far, but I've already learned a lot about the Revolutionary War and about Hamilton. I knew nothing about him before this documentary. I continue to be in amazement at how this country was founded! Thank you for this video!
There is no other country or government like it. In all of history, no country has achieved what the United States has accomplished, yet there are people out there whose sole purpose and demeanor is to bring this country to its knees, and if possible, put an end to our liberties, and way of life. No system of government has ever been 100% perfect, but no country even comes close to a second place, in providing for its citizens, and ensuring life, liberty, and a pursuit of happiness.
Excellent! Knowledge is power
Hamilton was a brilliant man.
He ought to be he was the first secretary of the Treasury.
Also insane
The 2008 HBO TV Series 'John Adams' was a marvellous historical dramaticisation that covers Hamilton very well towards the end. It shows him grasp the necessities of nationhood, perhaps better than any of his peers. He was the rational centralist who argued against a devolved vision. He was a major constitutional and economic architect. He was the one who gave government finances a firm foundation. A great man, the rock on which a young USA set down its roots. Sadly brought down by his flaws, he deserves to be better known. Thank you for this, I found it very helpful.
I've always disliked Hamilton for giving us capitalism. It's foundation is exploitation and it supports monopolistic behavior. Just look at where it has taken us. Grifters run our system of have's and have-nots. 😠
If he wasn't a planted bad infiltrater, he was later approached or used by the bankers opposed to the core of the US founders cause of freedom from London bankers etc or The Jacobite infiltraters G. Washington refered to in a letter... Highly likely anyway
Lol I like when adams is talking to Jefferson in that movie and Jefferson straight up says " If God allowed me I would put my hand over Great Britain and drowned her into the sea". Lol
According to the 'Rothchild Papers' he was nothing more than a lackey. Woodrow Wilson would be another lackey of the "elites" as he helped the Federal Reserve into reality.
Central banks are never the answer.
We wouldn't have the economic system we have today, if not for Alexander Hamilton. His economic papers he wrote, on commerce, show what a visionary Alexander Hamilton was.
I found him one of the most interesting of our founding fathers, Hamilton and Madison man myself.
Im in awe about a lot of our founding fathers!
A great man who did so much for this country... to make our country great. We all owe him a lot. Unfortunate how 'things turned out for him.' Thank you for this doc., may those unaware learn about him.
Finally a good documentary about Alexander Hamilton on UA-cam. Thank you!
I think Hamilton was a great statesman and did our country a world of good at a time when we needed his level head the most.
For the record, he's always been on the $10 bill 💵. It even says it in the musical: "the $10 Founding Father, without a father."
Listen to The Hamilton Polka by Weird Al Yankovic.
@abrahammorrison6374 I just listened to it and no, just no 🙅🏾♀️😂. That would've ruined it for me if I didn't already love the musical 😂
@@SweetLibertyTravels At least I made a valid point. Nothing more.
@abrahammorrison6374 Was "polka music is corny" your point? Otherwise, I missed the it lol. I loved everything about the Hip Hop, R&B, and Reggae versions, of the songs but Polka isn't my thing at all. I'm sure there is someone out there that doesn't like my preferences and connects to the lyrics with this sound tho. To each his own 🤷🏾♀️
Right, they shelved the plan to remove Hamilton (in favor of Harriet Tubman, if I'm not mistaken) from the $10 bill after the success of the musical. One word change would have fixed everything.
They should make an Alexander Hamilton TV show.
The man is a legend.

This documentary is truly priceless. Excellent job!!!!!!
I am not American and honestly if it weren't for the musical I wouldn't even have heard of Hamilton. Glad to learn more about him.
The musical was a woke version of history. Read a book to get informed.

@@Cobra7FACthe term "woke" was first used by the black community, as in "get woke to what the government, police, etc are doing". Great documentary! I always admired Alexander Hamilton! And this documentary shows how great his Contributions were to our Republic! He definitely should be on a Banknote!
I think so too! First treasury secrstery, patron saint of Wall Street, and created our banking system and currency! He should be on the 100!
I often wonder about how different the world would have been if Alexander hadn’t went to the duel
How would it have been different? Hamilton's ideas on finance and foreign policy unfortunately eventually became mainstream in the modern United States.
Maybe Mexico would have been part of the US because he wanted to conquer parts of South America
It would be worse. He was an imperialist who created the germ of the cancer that is the federal reserve.

Who else has a crush on Hamilton, even though he’s been dead for a couple of centuries? He’s absolutely one of the most amazing men in all world history, and definitely the most amazing man in all of US history. He had the worst upbringing imaginable, he couldn’t even escape a natural disaster kicking his a** as he almost died in a hurricane that left him homeless and without any possessions or memory of his mother. He had not one thing going for him growing up apart from his incredible brain: ie his super high IQ, fearlessness, sky high ambition, uncommon confidence and determination & tenacity, natural charisma presence and charm, professional oratory and writing skills, speech and debate mastery, logical reasoning skills and photographic memory, allegedly very handsome face, tall height for the time, and perhaps most importantly: an iron strong will to live that one only experiences if you’ve escaped death by the skin of your teeth . I 100% believe there was major divine intervention that had him born at that specific time in history, and allowed him to survive against almost guaranteed death given the horrendous circumstances of his early life, and he was chosen by God for a very specific purpose in life. And maybe not so ironically, after that life purpose was accomplished and he stopped writing and was essentially just a sad recluse, even though he was still young and healthy, he died. As if God was saying good job faithful servant, you can rest now free from your misery; come home now and be with your son for eternity. You couldn’t write a better story. Thank you Hamilton for leaving us this great country. I’m sorry we’re so ungrateful and have perverted your vision for the country so radically. Anyways, vote conservative. Trump/Ramaswamy 2024 🇺🇸❤️
Hamilton was a great statesman and a financial genius. I appreciate his contributions to our country every time I look at the 10 dollar bill.
What did he contribute to the fledgling republic besides A CENTRAL BANK?
@Foundry_made Hamilton fought in 7 major battles, was a key member of Washington's staff and was a commander of light infantry. He lobbied for then attended the Constitutional Convention in 1787 and helped to persuade a skeptical public to ratify the Constitution by launching and writing the majority of The Federalist Papers. He was a self-taught economist who was appointed by Washington to be the first Secretary of the Treasury in 1789. America's war debt was crushing and, by the time he retired in 1795, America was fiscally sound and poised to become a major financial power. Hamilton argued for a diverse economy, pointing out that manufacturing and commerce, along with America's current mostly agrarian society, were integral parts of a modern economy. He was the chief architect of the American financial system. Pretty impressive for an immigrant from such humble means.
@@Foundry_made It was a state-owned and state-controlled bank which was doing the exact opposite of what private central banks are doing, but in order to prevent Hamilton's ideas from inspiring the future generations, The City of London and British intelligence (aka the enteties who trive on the closed system) intentionally misinformed people like you into thinking he was the originator of something that's the equivalent of today's private central banks.

He was, on balance,a great gift to our people- including me centuries later.
Just by far one of the most brilliant minds that has walked on this earth and given the chance would have been a fantastic president.
Not possible. Jefferson made sure he can never be president by making sure that all presidents are American born in the constitution.
@@45jacky77 No. He WAS eligible. The Constitution states that to be eligible one must be either a natural-born citizen or a citizen of the US at the time the Constitution was adopted. Otherwise none of the Founding Fathers, including Washington, could have become President because they were born British subjects.
I agree with you, but I think his illegitimacy was enough to prevent his election.
Hamilton was not born in the USA, therefore he couldn't be president of the United States

Heroes always collect enemies and they come from all possible sources.
They envy the winners and hate them at the same time.
I see AH as a man living a heroic life and when you follow his rise from what seemed like cold ashes he was having none of that and his superb success soon followed, meanwhile, throughout the dangerous choices he made, like involving himself in many wars, both foreign and at home, he somehow escaped those treacherous situations--and few men would be able to survive those same death-defying escapes--he also made fools of more than one formable enemy.
I greatly honor the man for his talents and the many influential things he did for America.
I love history and nothing better to see than the story of the true father of the American Constitution and Institution. Alexander Hamilton.😊

Trying to understand how you think Hamilton was the true father of the Constitution. He certainly, and passionately promoted it's adoption, but he authored not one single word.
Did you know he was a mulatto?
@@nitziamartin-vazquez4420I know that he wasn't. He was a jew.
@@macvena Madison and Hamilton were the two most important contributors to the Constitution, though there were many involved. I have a degree in poli sci and the constitution is one of my concentrations.
Alexander Hamilton played an important but comparatively limited role DURING the Revolution, but without his vision and foresight this country would NOT have become the industrial juggernaut it became, thus influencing the history of the world as it has. He was the MOST UNDERRATED and almost forgotten of the founding fathers!!! He deserves his place on the $10 bill!
Amazing documentary as always! Great work. If I may suggest Fyodor Dostoevsky and Leo Tolstoy as future subjects! I’d love to hear about them💓💓💓
I second that!
Hamilton was a great man who believed in freedom. He was not privileged; however, he was creative and used his talents to develop a template for American government. We need another Hamilton today.
In the hbo series John Adams he’s kinda portrayed as a dick. Also his beef with Jefferson was completely unwarranted
Rochambeau's forces also played a HUGE role at Yorktown; and it was he that suggested to Washington to bail on taking New York & head south, instead.
A vastly underated American statesman.
Excellent documentary, great father of our country
Alexander Hamilton is my Grandfather, 7 times removed. There are millions of us in America!
I highly doubt there are millions of descendants of a man that lived just 350 years ago

Alexander Hamilton was a brilliant visionary who had a major hand in creating the strong government and economic powerhouse that the US is today. Was he flawed, perhaps arrogant yes. But he was true to the ideals of this country. He does not receive enough credit for what he, as a major driving force, helped to create. This country would not be as strong as it is without Hamilton! And I think you meant to say that a plan to remove Hamilton from the $10 bill was derailed because of the immense popularity of 2015 musical by Lin Manuel Miranda.
I am so grateful that my third grade teacher Mrs. Strunk taught us all about Alexander Hamilton. We need to revisit his solutions to our problems that encumber us today. We might step up yet again!
Wonderful presentation. Thank you.
This is a phenomenal documentary. Hamilton. Hamilton.
Excellent biography. Politics aside, I believe Hamilton was a great statesman who got the new nation on a sound financial footing.
A. Hamilton inspired me so much (yes I know he was not the best man) he is the reason I want to go into the field law and politic and helped me pick my dream university (Colombia University the same one Hamilton went to) so yes he may not have been the best person but he was a brilliant man a amazing writer and my roll model
I enjoy hearing the details of Hamilton. It's very interesting
This is a good video. Great wealth of knowledge 🏆
My favorite Founding Father. I believe it was Alexander's love for his smeared and mistreated mother (Alex was actually listed in court documents as "whore child") that made him vulnerable to women like Maria Reynolds, a supposedly wronged wife.
*"You should not have taken advantage of my sensibility to steal into my affections without my consent."*--Alexander Hamilton

The Ten Dollar

Got a lot farther, by working a lot harder
Excellent summation of this most important figure in not just American history, but the worlds. Just imagine how advanced our society would be if we spent time reading Plutarch and Machiavelli instead of Dr Seuss and Archie when we were young. Though the criteria of who is considered a founding father is mixed in mythos and never-ending constructed categories of importance, Alexander Hamilton stands alone. We've all grown quite used to the term "Hamiltonian or Jeffersonian" in determining where we ourselves stand when it comes to the key tenants of what we like to believe in a modern advanced civilization, are most important. For we are either for the State or the Individual. We support law and order or anarchy. We are loyal to the nation or we rebel against it. We understand that liberty is a privilege, or our god-given right.
One cannot be both a Patriot and Traitor. If we do not support the integral welfare of our nation, we are against it. Hamilton knew how to rule alright and is most deserving of his ever rising reputation that this people's profile have brought forth with more than enough convincing evidence.
Great documentary. Quick correction. Hamilton was denied being chosen to be on the $10 bill because of the play Hamilton. He remained on the $10 bill in part as of the popularity of the play. At one point there were going to remove him from the bill. Hamilton has been on the $10 bill since 1928.
Im glad he's gotten that attention, much overdue, and he should be on a bill. Absolutely!
Congratulations on featuring this Upstanding and Truth driven Founding Father! Would that we had a thousand more like him in our World today!!! They would make Short Work of the pretenders in power right now ‼️Happy Real Independence Day to all Real Patriots 🇺🇸🔥🇺🇸🔥➕
The pretenders who pull all the strings in America today, care more about a particular middle eastern country than about America.
Based on this documentary and information Hamilton was a brilliant and patriotic man. He basically created the American foundation other than his family betrayal which is a horrible mistake he was a very important to this country. He was strong in keeping to his idea of the USA Hamilton should go down as a Hero of the American People
Enjoyed this
He was a great statesman all in all
I believe Hamilton was and to this day, very much under rated on so many levels. As a statesman, as a founder, a diplomat, and as a patriot. But if it wasn't for the musical Hamilton, it seems 90%of today's youth in America wouldn't even know who he is. And 75% adults ( from gen X to gen z) couldn't tell you what exactly he did, because history isn't very well taught. It is a shame. Being a Gen X, I had to teach myself and read about history because public school just glosses over, or just teach political messages. Which makes me personally sad.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It’s funny I just watched the musical the other day and it sparked my interest in learning more about him. Glad this just popped up
Wait........ He Doesn't look like Lin Manuel Miranda 😢
That's okay. Still a good play for what it is.
Yup he sure doesn’t 👌🏻💯🇺🇸
No, he was a real man.
Yeah. Isn't it funny how politics can turn the son of a Scottish nobleman and a French protestant into a Black man. I'm not sure whether this would count as blackfacing Hamilton or whitefacing Miranda.
Obviously they changed it to make him look white. History makes everyone look different that what they are/were.
Hamilton's strategic thinking changed my thinking. Thanks for sharing this interesting video. 😀

Hamilton was indeed one of our greatest founders. His loyalty and intellect were significant contributors to our government we enjoy today. Only political opponent’s damaged his reputation. Did he have faults, yes, of course as did all the others. He opposed slavery from the very beginning and established the banking system that exists to this day.
Yeah, the federal reserve is a terrible central bank that has robbed the world. Not a good institution.

His portrait is on the $10.00 bill. Take a look.
He had a brilliant mind and was a fierce patriot proving it by fighting for independence, the polar opposite of the coward destroying the country today
There is a tendency to puff up Hamilton without any references regarding the actions of the banks. This is an entertaining video with enough truth
Hamilton brought about much good but still got him self killed in the end. There have been men like him to follow and today there is such a man . Guess or do you know who he be?
#45 & #47. 😉
Hamilton is my favorite founding father. Probably more instrumental to American greatness than any other.
Not my favorite Founding Father, he made the central bank, was a Federalist who wanted a strong central government, didn't believe in States rights and he argued against the 2nd Amendment arguing the people didn't need guns.
The militia needed guns.
Jefferson avoided military service during the Revolution. He was Governors during the most serious British invasion of Virginua. An unprepared militia lacking personal arms one of the problems
Jefferson was accused of cowardice because of his wartime governorship. The matter was dropped after Yorktown but TJ was always haunted by the matter
There was more than just A. Ham arguing against the 2nd amendment. Many of them did because that is not what they created it for. A little history on the constitution would be a good place to start.
The idea of perpetual debt, as Hamilton conceived, served the US well, until budget-consciousness vanished. Ever since World War Two, elected officials only accuse their oppositions of squandering, while everyone of them is guilty for not taking responsibility for a national debt of $31,000,000,000 plus. The debt was a mere one third that amount only 23 years ago. So, no small thanks to Alexander Hamilton, but enjoy the last greatest days of the US Empire now, before the final economic crash sends us back to the dark ages.
Agree. Add two more 0s to the writing of your number?
You’ve forgotten what all has transpired in the last 23 yrs, right? 911 and an economic crisis, two horrific wars all put on the Chinese credit card until President Obama included it in the budget, the economic crisis of 2008, still fighting Bush’s wars, Trump and his $7T tax cut. Other than that though, you might, might have some sort of a point.
Listen to The Hamilton Polka by Weird Al.
I support Hamilton’s Federalist views… strong central government. Confused saying Hamilton was “Shelved” to go on US Currency. Hamilton was on the 1861/1862 $5 Greenbacks and since 1928, was always on the $10 Federal Reserve Note. HE WAS NOT born in USA nor his father or mother US Citizens so he could never run for VP or president. A very interesting person.
I thought the same thing about non-native born unable to become VP or Pres. but article 2 of the Constitution would have allowed Hamilton to become president. It stated that naturalized US citizens at the time of the acceptance of the U.S. Constitution even if not born in the US could be president. "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

He was a very wise man, and fought for knowledge and for others.
But in helping to make all men equal, he is a true hero!
Not very wise to duel. His ego/honor cost him his life.😊
An undoubted patriot and skilled statesman. who provided the financial and political foundation for future American successes.
He was so brilliant he went and got himself shot, Jefferson was my guy:)
I have noticed that Hamilton is shown writing left-handed. If he was shot in his right hip in the duel then, he was right-handed shooting. Which was Hamilton’s dominant hand?
An invaluable asset to George Washington. Thanks for the story.
