Esther Sherman - My favorite song is the Ten commandments. The story goes that in the Caribbeans, where Hamilton was as a child, were 8 Jewish families survivors of the Inquisition in Spain in the 14th Century.
One of the Jewish commandments. Hamilton knew the Ten commandments in Hebrew.
I believe that Hamilton ideals were formed by this teacher and were the back bone that pushed him
forward......
One of the Jewish teachers taught Hamilton the Ten commandments. Hamilton son in his biography of his father said that the only thing Hamilton remembered of his
childhood was the Ten Commandments in Hebrew.
He was a British dude* and Burr (we will never actually know, but*) was remorseful.
If they gonna mention the the first nyc hospital shouldn't u also MENTION ALL THE BLACK BODIES THEY USED FOR THEY "ANATOMY" WORK ? WHY DO WHITE PEOPLE FAIL TO MENTION THAT...MISS HISTORY BUFF 🙄🙄

"Hamilton was the only founding father who didnt survive until old age"
..."Every other founding father gets to grow old"
Such a beautiful song that always tears my heart strings
And when you're gone who remembers your name

Can people stop using the word triggered for non PTSD stuff? Thanks.
A PTSD patient.
This is awesome...living in NYC...I've walked these areas soooo many times...But never really knew the history behind it. This is great
My pleasure! I’m glad you enjoyed it :D
@@UrbanistExploringCities I knew some of this story of Alexander, because I watched an explanation of that history and that was Lin-Manuel Miranda,. Thanks for your information New Yorker. I've visited New York and I loved it.I lived with a couple of theatre friends for about 2 weeks. Fabulous!
🗿
@Emily Wheeler summer is around the corner. Set a few days aside and come vacate
History makes life more interesting
1:56 “Everything is legal in New Jersey.”
Imagine to eliza, lose both of them at the same site
I cry every time Philip dies and they sing “it’s quiet uptown” and when Alexander dies and Eliza sings, “who lives, who dies, who tells your story”... every... flippin... time. 😢
Oh I am sure everytime she went to Spot in New Jersey with any of her kids or the orphans after a few years she probably said this... " IF I SEE ANY OF YOU WITH A GUN !! SHOT IT SOMEWHERE ELSE!! "
If you notice who lives who dies who tells your story, Angelica says, every other founding fathers story gets told, every other founding father gets to grow old. I did not know he was the only one who died young.
I always wanted to visit NYC, now I have another great reason to go
Yay!! Glad I provided another good reason to visit
This is why we need historical preservation initiatives. We can’t let developers tear everything down.
💯
Alexander Hamilton my name is Alexander Hamilton and there's a million things I haven't done just you wait just you wait.
Two centuries later:
Everyone who is asked who alexander hamilton is in history class: WE ALL GOT AN A +
History teacher: I finally didn't have to give one student an F. Alexander really is a true hero.
I just imagine someone writing the lyrics and getting an A+ just based on that 😂
I had a friend who was (according to himself) a great photographer, and he lived within 2 blocks of The Grange. When it was being moved, I was staying there & walked past.... then urged him to get over & take some photos, because "Hamilton's house is 50 feet in the air!" .... he couldn't be bothered.
That’s unfortunate.
Thank you for this outstanding documentary, Ariel!
In Europe, there’s a lot of talk about Alexander Hamilton right now because Europe is planning to assume debt at the federal level for the first time (to cope with the crisis), just as Hamilton proposed for the US when he was secretary of the treasury. It was a very good move for the economic power of the American Union, the hope is that it’s also good for Europe.
For me the yellow Dutch bricks were interesting, because you see them everywhere in old Dutch towns. I had no idea that the quality was so good. I now understand the saying ‘if it ain’t Dutch it ain’t much’ better. 😉
I’ve bought the book about Theodosia Burr and my first impression is that Karen writes as well as she talks. Theodosia was a very interesting woman!
Hey Auke, I'm so happy you enjoyed this video and that you got the Theodosia Burr book! That's fascinating that it's only until now that Europe is adopting Hamilton's ideas.
And oooh I can't wait to visit Netherlands one day soon and see those yellow bricks myself!
My brain was low-key just *blown* when he said Hamilton was “intending to throw away his shot” when he and Burr had their deadly duel & I was like “wait whaaaaaaaaaaaa... “ (because of the song title “My Shot”...) 👀
“If i throw away my shot is this how they remember me my legacy legacy what is a legacy seeds in a garden you never get to see America you great unfinished symphony you sent me for “
@@RealFad3 rise up rise up you Eliza ( he puts his pistol in the air)
what blew my mind is someone pointed our that he died because he threw away his shot and burr didn't wait for it.

Really good presentation of Hamilton and the unusual events of his life. The current locations in NY helped give the story interest. Good job!
Alexander Hamilton is the only Founding Father I admire. I studied intensely all about him in the 1980s when I was in banking. I was so touched by this wonderful human being. I got so angry when I found out about the way he lost his life and the way we lost him so young. A silly duel. I am an amateur historian interested and passionate about history from 1900 all the way to 500BC. I do history in combination with archaeology. Thank you so much for your presentation of Mr. Hamilton. Ariel Viera your video is the third I have relished this weekend. Thank you for the surprising tour by Miss Karen Quinones. I walk around Manhattan always in awe of the historic buildings I always encounter on my way to appointments in my City. Thank you very much the both of you 🙏
karen was such an enthralling and informative guide. it would be wonderful to see more of her tours.
It's kinda weird to me how the Hamilton house is just sitting there. Do they ever do tours in the house. Also it blows my mind how if you want to you can walk in the foot steps of the founding fathers. Like its mind blowing to me.
This is extremely well done. Fantastic work! Thank you for making this!
Hey! I'm so happy you enjoyed this :D
This helps me learn about Hamilton ( Evelyn, 7). (Grandmother’s note - she knows what words in the play she can’t sing in public, but can she sing!)
I remember once when we got a trip to federal hall, the tour guide gave me a commemorative patch for the 100th anniversary of the hall because of how I was the only one (hamilton fan) that was so excited for the trip. (I lost the patch when I was fixing in my bag in my room :'3)
This is a pretty good video. However, when describing the duel, you got the names wrong a couple of times...
I knew I knew little of American history and the characters. Learning this is exciting and thanks for bringing this to light. You, Ariel, have help to tell the story. ✍🏻🗣
I'm so happy you enjoyed this! Yea if it weren't for the musical, Hamilton would be forgotten
@@UrbanistExploringCities Your right about the musical, but sadly I have not yet seen it. SO, thank you for the peek into history.
This is great! Also the woman is a very good story teller! I really enjoy listening to her

I loved this Ariel! Very informative. I loved all the songs of that musical! But if I had to choose it would be Satisfied🥰 and then The Room Where It Happened. Oh Ariel , I loved all the songs from Hamilton!

Great video, thank you
Excellent. Just saw Hamilton in Los Angeles. Thanks
A very good video. I am presently reading Ron Chernow book about Hamilton, and was that is what b inspired me to view your video. I also used to work in lower Manhattan many years ago and would often pass the Trinity church cemetery.
Wow, what a great video. Congratulations
Great job learned a lot and so excited to watch Hamilton!
thank you so much Jen!! :D
Has anyone realized that the this video was posted was also the day that Hamilton came out on Disney+!LOL the irony
Hahaha I did it on purpose to make this video a companion guide after watching the musical! Hence why I made all of the musical references :)
@@UrbanistExploringCities Awesome!BTW I loved the video! And the quiet uptown song was really good!
Definitely not irony.
Interesting & informative video by Ms. Quinones. You know, because the video doesn't really pick up or do anything for us until she drops her knowledge. 🤦🏻♂️🕵🏻💯🤷🏻♂️🤔

loved hamilton, good to know more
Excellent! I just took Karen’s revolutionary and Hamilton/Burr tour last week!!
This deserves way more views!
Well done piece here
Hamilton terrace was a real nice neighborhood near city college when i visited decades ago
Sometime in the future I might be able to visit Brooklyn since my sister's going to Columbia university so I'm excited to see the sights.
You are a good history teacher. You make history fun and interesting
I love this vid!!!!
Thanks for watching!!
nice work
I read that Phillip is buried there too but the church wouldn't allow him to have a marked grave because he died because of a duel.
he is buried there! You can see my recent video of Trinity Church where I visit his graveyard
Angelica is also There lol it's like a Massive Family Plot.
@@katiearbuckle9017 Yeah they talk about that in the play.
great video !
Very interesting...makes me want to visit NYC...
Great video.
Cool!
@18:08 Those students were awful. They even paid people to dig up fresh graves. It wasn’t uncommon for people to guard a grave for several days. The Bowery Boys podcast has fascinating facts regarding NY History.
I’d also like to learn more information regarding the Hamilton family after Alexander’s death. I was under the assumption that he had limited capital.
Im a Hudson County born and raised lover of history but especially american revolution. Since you were in Jersey not to far away in Jersey City there is an old cemetery called Harsimus Cemetery which if im not mistaken dates back to the A.R. and had a skermish on the hills of that cemetery back in the American Revolution. I love NY but Jersey especially around the Hudson county area has alot of history also. Love your videos
Well done and informative video. I will be doing Karen Q tour.
Thanks!
Whoa thank you so much for the Super Thanks!!
imagine living just in front of where hamilton was shot, gOD
My new life goal is buying that very house
Thank xo much for maki g this video it was wonderful. I went on line for Karen's to make a reservation for the tour but to no avail, is she going to start again. Please advise
Check back in Spring, she should be starting then again there
Great short documentary. Very accurate and enjoyable to listen to. Would advise to pay attention to spelling errors and mistakes along the way however. Cut those parts out and start the dialogue from the subject again if necessary. Made it feel very unprofessional in certain areas. I enjoyed your tone throughout, but the minor mistakes in dialogue, camera angles and spelling made this feel like a high-school project. Aside from that, fantastic portrayal and accurate representation of AH.
What a Great Story
I played in Hamilton's house when I was a kid. His house was a half block from mine. I lived 351 west 141st ( Hamilton Heights) the n Harlem. His house has been moved into St Nick Park just below City College. I lived between Edgecombe and Convent Ave. Sugar hill
I want to take this tour 😩
Duels were only recently removed from Kentucky law.
I am not a fan of NYC. Too big, too crowded and yes too liberal for me. However I am fascinated by our country's early history and so I found this fascinating. Thanks for the video
Why and how did the river move?? Rhis is great info!
