More engaging than my AP History class in 2005
“The best form of government is that which most likely to prevent the greatest sum of evil”
James Monroe
The opposite of our current government
@@thomasjeffersun
Sadly
That is well said.
Chock full of facts, no empty air space, good visuals, what more could a man ask for?
My thoughts as well!
🤔…BAT country! 😃🤣
Agreed! Another good one is a book, "The last founding father."
It’s fascinating that three of the founding fathers (Jefferson 83 and Adams 90! and Monroe 73) all died on the Fourth of July, and two died on the same day- Jefferson and Adams. Adam’s last words were “Jefferson lives on”, but he was unaware that Jefferson had died a few hours before him. So interesting.
That has always fascinated me, three Presidents dying on July 4th. In 1836, James Madison came up six days short and died on June 28th. President Zachary Taylor became sick on July 4th, 1850 and died on July 9th. Later, President Calvin Coolidge was born on July 4th, 1872.
Amazing how high the cost if Democracy has been!!! Let us too fight to keep it.
This channel is a godsend for history fans. Thank you very much!
Learned so much and feeling of appreciation to USA founders. Thank you!
I would really like a profile on Theordore Roosevelt. Complete the heads on Mount Rushmore.
Can you also make room for the wives of the president in the docu? Maybe a letter or two between husband and wife? Thanks
These bios are good to fall asleep to. I wake up just knowing things.
Thank you! So little coverage is devoted to this man.
Thank you very much for for a very pleasant and educational experience through your video presentation.
This is awesome! Thank you guys!
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE SINCE I BINGED THE PRESIDENTS IN AUGUST. RAHHHHHH.
Excellent video! Thank you very much! 😊
Love this series 🙏🤌💪
Thank heavens that the beginning of our country had three men, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Monroe, and also John Quincy Adams to lead our country to greatness
andrew jackson and james polk?
56 Founders forged our Constitution
Probably close to 1 million fought or supported Washington's Continental Army
cool video, keep up the good work, big kudos to the creative team👍👍👍👍👍
I'd love to see one on James K Polk
The tradition of a president leaving office in financially worse shape than he entered into it began with Monroe. A son of the revolution. A father of his country. I feel America took more than was owed from President Monroe. And gave back when it was too late. His legacy, his legend lives on. As does the country he loved.
I like the Presidents biographies you've done, keep it up
My children were taught Latin in a public school in the Mid-West and that school continues it to this day.
Great documentary on Monroe! Thanks for sharing.
💯👍👊
Love this information, and the voice of the narrator is excellent as well..
I’ve learned about James Monroe ever since January when me and my history class went on a field trip to the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Another epic life. Great documentary as always.
Man…I thought from the thumbnail for a moment it was Magneto
The man k own to History as Magneto was born Max Eisenhart... 😂
Thank you for a great documentary
please please please do a documentary on NAPOLEON BONAPARTE. I think we could all use a refresher on his life before the movie comes out in theatres later this month
Love this channel. So well explained about this contriversial president.
Why was he controversial?
Great presentation. I learned a lot about James Monroe
You guys always make my days with your content! Please consider abraham Lincoln, the greatest president
Well done
Thank you
Thanks.
THANK YOU
Can you please do a doc on Wilhelm II?
Very nice , excillent and comprihansive ❤❤❤❤
I wanna know why ALL the founding fathers/early US presidents were taught Latin as children.
It was a part of "classical" education at the time and still a bit useful today in undrstanding of laws and medicin.
The root of all language
@@OrjanGrahn so was it basic education for anyone who actually received education at all then?
Yes and actually a “classical education” still includes teaching Latin. My 7 and 9 year old grandbabies go to a private Christian school and are also being taught Latin.
@@suzziezhillsnot true. Latin is about 2700 years old, humans have been around a lot longer than that and they were speaking
Pls do more videos on other US presidents
Very interesting
documentary is a hard genre to make not boring. . .
😂😅
😍😍😍
Wonderfully orchestrated documentary.
Thank you
I was born in Monrovia, Liberia.
Man y'all really fucked that place up.
Why did they used to build roofs over bridges? There must have been a reason.
@@heikechilds2816 but I suppose in the uk bridges were built over hundreds of years out of stone so we didn’t have the same issues.
Wood is prone to rot when exposed to the elements. A roof over a wooden bridge helps it to last longer.
I thought this was an excellent profile of President Monroe! A great patriot in a new and chaotic emerging United States!
Thats when education and families and work meant something
He was the most sptly prepared for the Presidency than any weve ever had
A complicated Presidency
"Born in the Family Estate.......inherited 500 acres and 8 slaves, Providing Comfortable but far from PRIVILEGED EXISTANCE"...........Lets ask those 8 slaves a couple questions.
Like what?
@@caseyreed5231like how from their relatively viewpoint the Monroe’s were exceedingly privileged. They got the proceeds of others uncompensated labor. Something in sure would miff you.
48:45 "America? Goodness no! Brock was stupid enough to go to that vile place and look what it got him!"
6th grade schools should be using this in their history classes .
“It’s unfortunate that James Monroe doesn’t often get the kind of badass street cred that guys like Washington and Jackson get, because he kicked so much ass in the Revolutionary War that his foot has technically spent more time in an ass than it has in a shoe.” 😎
-from “How To Fight Presidents”, by Daniel O’Brien
Agreed
day 5 of watching a presidential documentary everyday until I know facts about each president
Great channel.
no doubt about that.
I hope it's ok for you that I make a modified Arabic versions of your videos with my documentary voice and talent in Arabic Language.
Will have to research him more closely.
Thank you for referring to those involved in the uprising as "enslaved people". They were people, not things; something too many forget.
Monroe had some good ideas
3:31 Walked several miles to and fro school to learn Latin, Greek, French, mathematics and history. Looking back at these great people one feel retarded. Who are we to think we know better than them, we are certainly not as knowledgeable nor wise, nor do most of us even come close to the morals and ethics of that time. The world has fallen.
It's a mixed bag. The man owned slaves, dude! The man forced native Americans to give up their land, their culture, and their history.
Yeah, because legalized slavery was great. Ideals from the 1700’s were repressive to anyone who was not wealthy, and who were not white.
The more we know about history dunmore, we know about ourselves!
I knew nothing about President Monroe.. thanks for the info that I will of course, fact check.
Please make an Andrew Jackson video
Andrew Jackson next!
A. GREAT 👍 PATRIOT. And. WONDERFUL. REPUBLICAN
I like how these histories usually describe obviously well-off people as "not privileged'. I'd say he was quite privileged-- he got to go to school while many kids could not-- they had 800 acres, a huge estate for those times-- they owned slaves- please, let's have a little realism. Even my own father was taken out of school in the 6th grade to work on the farm in the 1930s. All these so-called 'poor' who grew up to be people of power, wealth and fame, hardly a one was really really dirt poor. Even Oprah whose claims have been questioned by her relatives who were there, could go to high school which many in my family could not.
Thats crazy. This is how they confiscated the land huh? Free land with free labor.
the contradictions of Monroe still subsist today.
so if ive got this right... if Britain had given the American colonies representation in parliament.... you might have stayed with us
Tis channel hv no other great leader from other countries.Asian ?
You really need to look through the channel's videos before you ask questions like this. There are videos about people from all over the globe, including Asia.
This is America and our children's civics education has been neglected!!
Not even this great channel could make James Monroe interesting. The times he lived in were interesting, the people around him were interesting, but he himself wasn't interesting. Amusing that Aaron Burr broke up a potential duel between Monroe and Hamilton. Maybe Burr wasn't America's Bad Guy after all? Seemed to be a pattern with Hamilton.
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my entire life
VON STEUBEN was Prussian Not German. That is only flaw in this video. It was PRUSSIAN training that helped the Americans. Not German.
We went to war over a tax on documents and tea 😂 today they are trying to imprison a former president and leading candidate for President and we just accept it. The founding fathers must look upon us with extreme embarrassment and disappointment
Don’t be disappointed. Vote blue.
Trump should watch this how to be a president
Sorry, he is a better president than Biden.
Why he's going to spend the rest of his miserable life in court ALONE
All he has to do is the opposite of Lyin’ Briben, Potato Joe the living Roomba. Hell, a ham sandwich would be better than pedo Joe.
James Monroe was a good president. He loved his country. President Donald Trump also loves his country. This is why he will be president in 2024. Make America great again and Monroe's doctrine.
Strump only loves himself. Prepare to be disappointed and educated. ✨🇺🇸✨
I am voting for Biden. Trump tried to overthrow the government on January 6th. He's a bad guy, for sure...
Puke
from a world standpoint... America will be a threat to peace if Trump gains office... only Russia, China and Israeli leaders want him in the oval office.
Yet Trump claims he is the best 😅
Boring!!!!!
Dumpy trumpy should watch a lot of shows like how to be a human care for others
Thank you
😍😍😍
Wonderfully orchestrated documentary.
Thank you
