    Thanks @TomHanrath for the video. Was stuck for hours trying to make sense ast to why the two half shells are not clamping together, despite me assembling the throttle properly. At times I was even tempted to force it to clamp but then good sense prevailed and I came across your video on youtube. Had completely missed the locking hole on the handlebar. Thanks for your contribution.

      Ouch. In the end...replacement helped (of the plastic tube under the handgrip of the throttle.

      @@BreakingBarriers2DIY it was just that little hole. Needed to drill one.

    My one is the exact same but mine even makes a cracking noise when on the gas. Any ideas?

      Crackling noise...that is beyond me. The "tube" is teflon maybe scratched? The cable might be frayed in the area that I showed getting opened.
      Other than that...hope you were able to beat this one.

    Can’t get this to work, no matter what I do when putting the initial plastic piece on the cable falls off again into the side groove. Can’t even put my throttle back together.

      Sorry Ethan. It is indeed painful. I'm also not proud of the amateur video I put together those years ago. I eventually purchase a new "tube" (Plastic underneath the grip). For assistance with putting the throttle back together watch the video a few times...I had done it a number of times and ran into a few difficulties which I'm trying to help someone with. I live in Ontario, Canada...are you anywhere near me? Figuring likely not...try again and I hope your are near enough to home that you can deal with this slowly.

      @@BreakingBarriers2DIY I was thinking of also purchasing a new throttle tube so I’m glad it seems I came to the right conclusion. I actually dropped it off at a local shop yesterday because I’m also having carb leak issues, so I figure they’ll fix both problems for me. Thanks for the reply!

    Hi mate, thanks for the video, I have the exact same issue. Did you work out what was causing the issue or find a permanent fix?

    • @BreakingBarriers2DIY
      @BreakingBarriers2DIY  5 років тому +1

      I eventually bought a new "tube", the plastic which is the piece that the throttle cable winds around and it came with the grips already on it (whew...because they are painful to change without an air compressor). Now...it doesn't happen all the time. It only happens if i'm turning the throttle while taking weight on the handlebars...it used to happen all the time...and I think that was because the previous owner had it happen so many times the plastic was worn enough to make it happen easier. I hope this is making sense. New throttle tube...and then after you put that on...make sure not to take weight on the throttle while adjusting the throttle. This happens if I've slipped my front wheel into a small ditch or tough spot and I'm trying to back the bike out...or something where I'm wrestling with the weight of the bike while holding the handlebars. :)
      So it can still happen...but with a new tube it almost never happens. (Whew that was long winded. Sorry)
      There's you tube videos for replacing the tube...not bad...i did have to heat it just like the guy in the video .
      Hope you beat this.

      Tom Hanrath thanks mate, looks like I’ll have to do the same. It’s bloody annoying taking it apart all the time.
