MY 2013 NINJA HEADLIGHT ALSO NOT WORKING. i COULDN'T FIGURE OUT EITHER AND ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE IS THE BATTERY NOT CHARGING. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA AS TO WHAT WRONG WITH THIS. COULD THIS BE AN IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM?
My Stator (spins round on left side of motor...and acts like an alternator on a car to charge battery) was slowly becoming less effective and then finally it blew the rectifier and I had to replace both. What i experienced was going through a couple batteries because they weren't charging well. To diagnose the issue you are having, I recommend using a electronics tester. They are not too expensive as tools go...but if it's not your thing, you could borrow one...but borrow the person's expertise as well. That is where the real work is going to be. You will want to determine if the stator is putting out enough power to charge the battery. Take the seat off the bike and expose the battery terminals. Start the bike (use jumpers if dead battery) and measure the voltage between the cables attached to the battery. I should probably do a video to diagnose this as it is a bit easier to follow...but there are some available for similar motorcycles on UA-cam. I hope you locate the issue...and I hope it's not the stator...that was quite a job!
In my case ,the hight beams works perfectly (i means ,it turns on once i put the keys on and hit the start botton ,on the other side ,my low Beams wont turn on , so i can say that my relay box its got some falty relays , but that is not the end of the story ,a months ago ,my Kawasaki z1000 began to shows some weird sounds on relay box , and i was riding it ahead to home it rondomly dies in Middle of road , it couldn't start ,i had to wait for few hours and i try it again,Guess what ! It start ,fortunatly i reach home, in Next morning i try to start it again and it fire up right on time , i leave it idle for a few second it just died, i put the keys off and on ,i hear the butterflys sound but no fuel Pump sound ,its like the pump is being cutted from electrical sources....i was doing This for the next days till now, i got no solution ,could This be the relay box or ECU ......i Will be happy to read from your guys,sorry About my ingles, Im learning
Well you are showing good persistence in trying to solve the puzzle. It can be two separate puzzles as well. I'm curious how you could determine noises were coming from the relay box...but if that were happening to me, I would indeed consider it a bad electrical connection. The way to make a relay make noise is to rapidly connect and disconnect. It sounds like what would happen if a wire was connecting and disconnecting rapidly. If I were trying to figure this out...I would think back to the most recent change or damage on my bike that was near electrical connections.
The relay box itself cames with several relays for each electrical components , you already know ,so, The way that i determine where could be the possible issue ,its by tracing all problens related with electrical part, the first issue was gadgecluster , it wont turn on , sometime it just Blink couple time until goes off ,i could make it Blink again using water,i just wet some areas of the motorcycle ,i just pretend like Im washing it the gadgecluster seem to revive,the same happens with headlight,when the bike get washed the low Beams Start to flash until certain time , just to remember what i mention before ,the high Beams Turn on but no control stays on Forever until the keys its turned at off position,...other major issue that i use to determine the possible problem ,was Spark ignator ,sometimes the Spark doesn't work , rondomly fuel Pump dies at the sametime, no Spark to cause the ignition,thats wierd...could be the ECU,but when i joint all those suspicius behaviors it Take directly to the relay box , i would start it with no problems ,under 5min idling it dies , Pump cut off, i had to wait it to cool down to start again, some time it just cranks but no fire at all (no Spark ) , until i discharge the battery, i thought i was something getting hot and shut off the bike ,but wasnt the case ,even in the morning whn i turn it on i got no fuel Pump, harness checked .
