Dude watching these walkthroughs is like watching a doom movie!! Ive been watching your genius since lvl 1. Cant wait to watch your ultimate doom videos. Thank you so much, i love your content, commentaries, and skill!!!! 🔥💯🙌😁
Also what I liked about Doom 2 was the fact the enemies did fight one another sometimes if struck by one of them, making it seem more real. Because even monsters have beef with one another
Beef? They have a literal caste system going on around with the lower castes having to get terminated by the higher ones if they don't obey. There's a reason why the zombies in hell are named "Unwilling" in Doom eternal.
Man, I hate Perfect Hatred. This is a cakewalk in comparison. I died so many times on that level, this one I only died on the few surprise traps. (surprise Cyberdemon pit, surprise fall to your death)
The poem had to have been the perfect introduction for this video after the hiatus. And speaking of which, you're back and I'm glad! I've missed seeing these walkthrough videos, and now that you've returned, they're still just as much fun to watch. Just one more map to go till the end of Doom II. It's been quite a ride for sure. =)
Hey, thank you, LBF. It's about time I get back in the saddle and take care of business. But it's amazing how real life can drain you of time and motivation to do anything. Lucky for me, however, that has passed. It's great to be back. :)
I got so in love with your voice after watching your several videos! It's so clear that i can understand every words you say in your walkthroughs. You're amazing!
Ah what a lovely poem, it perfectly describes the penultimate map. The ledges near the end are pretty annoying when trying to dodge enemy projectiles, especially the mancubus on that ledge. This is a very hard map and it is fair enough that you saved your game. I save way much more on this map. Well done :)
The difficulty of this map is exactly why I saved my game towards the end. Re-doing this map again and having to go all the way through the hell of this level was not something I really wanted.
3:33 Always interesting to see the Cacodemon's horns raising from down below as he flies up from the pit. Reminds me the scene of Neo meeting the Machine boss in the final episode of the Matrix trilogy.
My favorite catchphrase of yours is "You'll see how we do it!". anyways, good to see you back, watching your videos to start my day is ALWAYS a good thing!
Welcome back Mac! This map is so difficult, things can go wrong nearly anywhere here! And fighting a Cyberdemon in close quarters is never fun! I loved that part when you called the Cacodemons and Pain Elementals food items! I saw what you did there!
Man, you're videos are great. I used to play this a lot back in the day, but have forgotten most of it of course. Very helpful, you're walkthrough videos. By the way, there is another way to kill the Mancubus near the third ledge, at 11:18. Before you jump, turn right and walk into the small space, where you first shot the Hell Knight. There is a very narrow gap at the left side, from where you can see the Mancubus, or at least a part of him. It's just enough space. Use the shotgun, chill and save your health, because he can't hit you. : )
Spirit World & The Living End are my favorite maps in all of Doom. Everything from the design to the music selection to even the ominous sounding names are perfect.
Good video, once again! There is a way to actually prevent the cyberdemon's platform from raising, and you can, thus, more safely fight him from above (though you still have to be careful along the platform edges). That final ledge at the end of the winding staircase that leads to the cyberdemon is what causes his platform to rise. What you do is just before you reach that final ledge (or stair), try going to dash to the left of it (essentially, to the left of that final metallic-like piece with the bolts in it - at 13:31, but NOT over it, as that is the border). If you do this correctly, the platform will never rise, and the cyberdemon will be stuck down there, being quite vulnerable. Be careful not to fall in after killing the cyberdemon, though, as you will be stuck (unless using idclip)! After he is dead, though, you can raise his platform the conventional way. Also, at the beginning, if you stay to the left wall, near the green armor, the annoying mancubus will accidentally hit some of the imps on the other side of the wall, and the imps will then attack him. Then, after you press the switch to raise the platform with the armor, you can attract the other imps and chaingunners, go back to the previous side of the wall (and being careful with any incoming fireballs from the mancubus), and the mancubus will accidentally attack them, as well, while you are dodging the fireballs. Occasionally, the imps/chaingunners will kill the already weakened mancubus. Another trick that I like to use, although it is a bit risky, is after that beginning section, instead of releasing that steel gate holding back the pain elementals and cacodemons, jump into the blood pit below, and quickly go towards that alcove that you went into to teleport to the hidden chaingunner room. Have your plasma rifle ready to battle the cacodemon below quickly, before entering the alcove. Then, take out the BFG, and just before going into the alcove teleporter, initiate the BFG blast, and just before firing, teleport, and the blast should kill the visible chaingunners (this takes good timing, though). Kill the rest of the chaingunners, and then teleport into that secret room - you'll find yourself harmlessly stuck in front of a pain elemental, and from there you can kill the pain elementals and cacodemons in that room. This is a good tactic, but the problem is that you'll endure a fair amount of damage before reaching that alcove teleporter. For that area with the soulsphere, which is guarded by the cluster of cacodemons - rather than engage them head-on, what I like to do is once I land on the platform, which releases the cacodemons to begin with, simply turn right, fall into the blood pit, and take the very nearby teleporter. Once you teleport, use the teleporter in front of you, and then simply wait for the cacodemons to come to you in the small room that you just teleported to. You can then much more flexibly take them out, one by one. :) This avoids taking too much damage from them and prevents picking up the soulsphere prematurely. In my case, this strategy is mandatory, as on the "fast-monsters" setting, they will attack you much more quickly and viciously, so you can end up dying rather fast in that ambush. Finally, to avoid that baron of hell teleporting behind you in that room, simply alert him (by shooting) when you open the door to that room altogether. You can safely fight him from the doorway. ~Trav.~
I really thank you for doing these walkthroughs they've helped me out a lot and I just like the way that you talk and you go through it and you don't rush through it like a lot of people do
And look who's back from map 16..! Huge thanks again for another walkthrough. It's kinda funny that I came back; I got to the section with the 3 bridges again, but was *completely* out of ammo, so I backtracked through the entire map to see if I missed anything, and I didn't see anything I could've missed or not picked up - that was a bad idea since I didn't know about the window with the teleporting chaingunners before that first teleporter. Anyways I backtracked through the whole map and found nothing, so I died when it came time to deal with the 3 bridges area. So then I come here. _And within the first minute_ of the video, you show how to get a plasma gun that I had no idea was here, and how to get that plasma from the ledge earlier on. I even fell down that area of the map to see where one of the teleporters was and I didn't see that little tunnel at the bottom leading to the plasma gun, but I suppose I have everything that I need to finish this map - and hopefully, the game. Thank you _again_ SO so much for these walkthroughs, I would've taken forever to get this far if it weren't for these.
No problem! That hidden plasma gun with all that ammo is a real godsend, it's almost a necessity on a map like this. Good luck with the rest of the game, just this map and the next one. :)
Hey Big Mac Davis, enjoyed the poem. I finished the cyberdemon by luring him out attacking him from the path leading up after i see his head, and dropping down and firing off with the bfg just before sight of the cd waiting at the top of the path. I kept getting destroyed at the top trying to side -strafe, so using the path for shelter helped me. None the less I love the walk-through and your channel. Thanks BMD!
Hey, nice to see you back! A very tough map indeed. It resemples to me a mix of Plutonia Map27, Anti-Christ and Map24, The Final Frontier. And that Cyberdemon at the end... I find the Mancubi near him much more pesky than the Cyberdemon himself, and I like to circle strafe around him with the Plasma Gun. I find that easier, at least to me. The Pain Elementals are much more meatballs than potatoes to me, lol. And now even you are noticing how many countless times you say "that's never a good thing"... Anyway, nice video!
It's possible to use the steps leading to the cyberdemon as a barricade against his rockets, then u can peekaboo shoot him with the bfg instead of circle strafing around him.. i find that way much easier:)
"We must kill this last enemy! I therefore order that no rocket launcher shall jam, and no Cacodemon spoil my aim!" Following that Doom style paraphrase of a Peter O'Toole quote, I'd also like to welcome you back. I've missed watching your walkthroughs, and loved you referring to the cacodemon and the pain elemental as food items. The poem was awesome too
Thank you. It has been an awesome day. So why not make it more awesome by getting an awesome comment from you as well as an awesome Peter O'Toole quote? :D
Hi mate, great to see you back! I like the way you dealt with the Hell Knight where you hugged the right wall to avoid the monster teleporter being triggered, I did not know that was possible, thanks for that and once again great to see you back I have been waiting for the last few maps of Doom 2 with great anticipation!!!!!!:)
Hey, thank you, darkyeti1974, it's great to be back. Just like you with your own Walkthrough of Momento Mori, I like to try to find the easiest and safest ways to deal with each section. Creeping up behind the Baron makes him miss his own teleporter. I find that funny.
I love this map too. It's one of the maps with the grandest of scopes and gives to feel of a city while ironically maps that consciously try to mimic a city don't achieve half this effect. One of my favorites. I just love loading up some insane arsenal and blast through it.
I died twice to it in two failed recordings. And what's weird is I usually don't die to him. But it's a recording; bad luck will find its way to me somehow.
I hate potatoes! That cyberdemon battle is a hell of a way to end the last "normal" level. This level is fun because it keeps you on your toes constantly with barons and tomatoes and the arch-vile. Good job gettin through it!
Yeah the lava hurts, mancubi hurt, little to no space to wiggle around, and I don't blame you saving your game as that Cyberdemon placement is ridiculous. I don't think I ever died there, as most of the time I got to the exit without noticing there was a Cyberdemon, so how convenient for me yet inconvenient for 100% sake. Can wait for the final map. Superb job with this map BMD.
This map is a truly pain in the ass if u want to get 100% walkthrough cuz that cyberdemon will just splatter u into pieces with his rocket. But if u aren't doing 100% walkthrough then u can simply skip him and run to the exit.
Thankyou bigmacdavis, i cant wait for the last map, it has been an awesome walkthrough which i have enjoyed very much, so much so i might just have to get blue shift just so i can enjoy it all over again with another game :D
Hey, that is awesome. Thank you for sticking with this Walkthrough, even if it hasn't been updated all that frequently. You won't be sorry if you get Blue Shift. ;)
Potatoes?? LOL!! I like it!! I'm looking forward for more funny names for doom monsters. I usually call "sweetnesses" to the pinky demons you know? Some kind of tribute to your Wolfenstein walktrough. Thank you for those funny moments Jeff!!
Mac is back! Nice to see you again. It's almost over with the game. Well, I love this map too. Did you knowthat the music of this map is inspired by Slayer - South of Heaven? The drum pattern is the same. Dave Lombrado inspired Doom developers lol. And I've just noticed that episode 3 map 3 Pandemonium sounds like the beginning of Behind the Crooked Croos from Slayer as well, and E3M1 Hell Keep like Pantera - Mouth for War.
9:35 Circular strafing on a touchscreen dpad is a nightmare 😩. But I accidentally fell in the lava and teleported to the beginning of the level. When I reached this room again, almost everyone killed their selves. Wonderful!
So I played this on Hurt me Plenty and honestly the beginning part seems harder in some ways on that difficulty because all of the Mancubi near the cyber demon are replaced with Revenants. So when I was trying to take the chain gunner window part slowly I kept getting blind sided by Revenant homing blasts because they can still see you and fire at you in that part of the map. It was kinda fun getting it to in fight with one of the Cacademons though.
Yay!! You're back! (I PM'd you about you uploading on Monday) also, apparently if you pre order 'Wolfenstein: The New Order' you get a beta of... Doom 4 multiplayer (or just Doom) I CAN'T wait to see what it looks like, I've seen 3 bits of concept art too
Cool video. Just 2 comments. at 11:20 You don't need to jump on the ledge to shoot the mancubus. Just walk to the edge and use the shotgun or chaingun. You can actually prevent the cyberdemon in the pit from rising up. If you do that, he will stay down and is an easier kill. Move on top of the last step and then to the corner of the last step and strafe over the 2nd to last step to the platform. Quite precise to do but it works
I'd tried many times to fight the Cyberdemon on that small platform but either I died or got the exit teleport by accident. I only managed to kill him by falling into the blood and running to the teleport that leads to the start area, so I went left and hid behind the pillars to protect myself from his rockets, then sniped him from there. I know I took way longer to kill him but it was the safest way I found to do so.
I saved the game before fighting the Cyberdemon. I, then, tried to "defeat" the Cyberdemon with a chainsaw followed by my fist just for fun. Those two strategies really didn't work out so well. Lol.
Whoa! This video starts off with a poem, which you have recited. Pretty weird. Also, I chuckled at calling the Pain-in-the-Ass Elementals "potatoes" and the Cacodemons "tomatoes". You almost died at these Mancubi and Revenants, which, as you say again and again, "is never a good thing". And "Shawn's Got the Shotgun" plays in the background once more in this penultimate level. Hope you're doing the walkthrough for Master Levels for Doom II, assuming that you're not too busy, of course. Nice vid, BTW.
This is my favorite map in the entire game. It's hard, it's wide open, you're suspended over huge drops over lava, the enemies are hard, it's very creatively designed, and I love the exciting final ascension up the mountainside before you reach the Cyberdemon that guards the final level.
I agree with you, this map is very well designed and I do enjoy the view we get around from the high up ledges. Also agree that this map is hard, in my opinion the hardest in Doom 2 along with map 27 (Monster Condo).
Once you lure the cyberdemon out of his hole, if you retreat a level below the winding path, there are certain points where you can BFG him without his rockets being able to get an angle on you. Basically he will patrol back and forth at the top and you can hide more or less below him, popping out and he will not be able to shoot you.
Good to see you are back BMD. Are you gonna do Icon of Sin discussion video?(SPOILER ALERT) I mean what the final boss is saying and who is behind the final boss.
hey, hey, hey,BMD ufffff the living end well done.👍👍👍 More and more cacodemons and mackubus, wooow. But as you said in mackubus vs cacodemon, cacodemon is a looser.
espnthefuture There is no mouselook in Doom. Playing a map with mechanics it wasn't specifically designed for usually screws it all up, in which case the player experience diminishes because of it rather than increases.
Thank you for these vids. Is Doom2 harder than Doom, in your opinion? Love them both! And Levels 26-30 in Doom 2 rival some of the best in Plutonia and TNT. TNT reminds me of Doom 1 in terms of level design but with the full array of monsters from Doom 2 and the SSG.
For some reason I cant pick off the Mancubii in the cages at the end (or most enemies that seem to be on a higher ground than i am). No matter what I do it won't register a hit to the enemy. Any thoughts why?
Potato and tomatoes. Good stuff. What a return to glory, my friend.
Hey, thank you. Glad you enjoyed.
Wonderful poem at the beginning. Loved it.
Lol, awesome. Thank you.

Yeah, I'm not the best at killing Cyberdemons. Especially up close.
Aw YEAAH!!! One of the coolest map in game. BTW Welcome back!
Thank you, my friend, it's great to be back.
And thank you for watching those funny moments. I'm glad you can take the time to watch them. I appreciate it. :)
Yeah, Bobby Prince got a lot of inspiration (and perhaps "borrowing") from a lot of artists. Slayer, Alice In Chains, Pantera, etc.
That poem couldn't have been more apropos for this map.....
Potato and Tomato lol
Lol, yup. Indeed.
***** if you beat Doom 2, you can replay any level you want? just a quick question, answer please.
***** But what about the BFG Edition version?
***** So no Level selection screen after you beat doom 1 or doom 2? , well that sucks a little.
I thought of cacodemons as raspberries as I was drinking a raspberry cream soda when first playing ultimate doom
Ah! It's awesome to see you back Jeff!
It's great to be back, my friend.
9:35
Circular strafing on a touchscreen dpad is a nightmare 😩.
But I accidentally fell in the lava and teleported to the beginning of the level. When I reached this room again, almost everyone killed their selves. Wonderful!
Oh, I forgot, your channel reached over one million views! Congrats!
1,000,000 views is awesome. I never thought I'd ever reach that.
So calling them Tomatoes and Potatos now XD
Doom 4 multiplayer (or just Doom) I CAN'T wait to see what it looks like, I've seen 3 bits of concept art too
Cool, I'm looking forward to Doom 4 becoming a reality.
+PlumBrendan Did you ever imagine you'd have to wait 2 years for that Beta?
I know right, the multiplayer was fun but it didn't feel Doom enough, but I'm still hyped for the single player experience!
Whoo! I subbed a couple weeks ago and was worried you were done! I love your half life and doom, cant wait for blue shift!!:D:D
Hey, thank you for the subscription. I appreciate it. I probably won't be done with my channel for another 20 years or so. :D
Currently playing this on game boy advance and am having a tough time. Ha ha! This video really helps. Thanks.
I'm glad that this video helps you, my friend. Doom on.
Also the music in this level sounds very similar to the slayer song "south of heaven".
"Sometimes a potato will get stuck up there" - so let's turn him into French Fries.
Shoulda, woulda, coulda.....
awesome commentary dude, love it
At the Cyberdemon, I just kill it at the stairs, peer over the ledge and pot shot it.
I sort of tried that when I did a practice run. But I died.
I adore this map. Might be my favorite in the official WADs. Feels like you're climbing a mountain to the ending.
thanks to you I was able to pass doom 1 and doom 2 without saving
im still playing doom 2 and still watching this walkthrough :D
9:05 Which is never a good thing
I'm going to do this every time in every video when BMD says that
Lol, awesome! :D
"Sometimes this thing will happen"
_Proceeds to show it happening_
RNGesus is kind to us in this playthrough
You reading that poem... I got some serious goosebumps here
I saved the game before fighting the Cyberdemon. I, then, tried to "defeat" the Cyberdemon with a chainsaw followed by my fist just for fun. Those two strategies really didn't work out so well. Lol.
Only the tiniest handful of people can do that. I'm not one of them either, haha.
You are a strong padawan.
Try killing a Cyberdemon with your fists 👊. LOL, actually, there's an achievement for that.
Are there any secrets in The Living End
Nope. So if you get 0% at the end-of-screen tallies, you still got 100%. Lol.
When I used this for help on my playthrough through the ps4 version I laughed so hard at the tomatoes and potatoes I wasnt expecting that
Back in black eh mr Davis? Haha, welcome back to UA-cam!
Yup, back in black. Feels good to be back.
It's really tough, but anyway one of my favorite maps of Doom II.
I did exactly what you did in this video and ended up getting zero per cent secrets. Must just be a glitch.
The map actually doesn't have any secrets. Despite what appear to be secret ledges containing plasma, they aren't tagged that way.
I'll admit I about died when you talked about the food items.
Nice to see a video up again.
Indeed.
Good to see you are back BMD. Are you gonna do Icon of Sin discussion video?(SPOILER ALERT) I mean what the final boss is saying and who is behind the final boss.
Yes, but it won't be in a separate video. I'll include a short demonstration of the "inside of the boss" at the end of the Map30 video.
hey, hey, hey,BMD ufffff the living end well done.👍👍👍 More and more cacodemons and mackubus, wooow.
The speech - it's perfect!! :-DD
This is a great map in Doom II, it feels really atmospheric and scary.
Do you have a link to that poem you said at the beginning of the video?
Pain elemental? More like pain in the ass.
Those things sucked in DOOM 64 because I’m pretty sure lost souls got more powerful
For some reason I cant pick off the Mancubii in the cages at the end (or most enemies that seem to be on a higher ground than i am). No matter what I do it won't register a hit to the enemy. Any thoughts why?
