u make the best doom tutorials ever.
@BuzzmFrog Agreed. Been playing Final Doom since it was new, but never really woke up about how to REALLY play them until I learned from BMD.
7:37. Shit man, those Chaingunners nearly turned me into the mince meat. I had 129% health and they took it straight down to 20%
Wouldn't be The Plutonia Experiment without them, would it?
"Where are you going? Are you dyslexic?" Haha, that Lost Soul was scared of the mighty BMD.
2:41 - I was expecting you to say 'Which is never a good thing' :D
That teleporter is indeed for coop. The room closes off, and it lets other people in so they don't get left behind.
This will come up a lot, but I wish Plutonia didn't use the sewage, lava, and other "painful" textures for floors that actually don't damage you. It happens quite a bit in this wad.
Milesluigi I agree. It's very disorienting. :(
"because of how many you use them" Plutonia's arch viles are making you go insane xD
"Next we have Caged" OH GOD, NOT THE BEES! NOT THE BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! THEY'RE IN MY EYES!
with all the pillars in that Mancubus room at the start of the level it reminds me of the Mancubus intro battle from Doom 3
5:05 Lost Soul: "Aight Imma head out"
2:25 A better way to take care of that archville is to run behind the archville, jump off the edge down to the volcano rock floor, and then press up against the wall with the lift. While pressed up against the wall, kill all the spectres down there, and one that's done, you can peekabo shoot the archville to death with the super shotgun. Just try not to get in line of sight of the chaingunners on the higher platform too much.
Plutonia really loves its traps! At least most of them are not unfair.........
Solid run through this map!
This was one of the 1st maps that allured me to the wad. I still love it! Maybe my favorite amongst the 1st 10.
As I told you, your walkthrough just made me play Plutonia.
That whole invisible bridge sequence at around 4 minutes in... SHEESH! (I also watched it on 1.5x speed so that made it even crazier!)
Very advanced mapping technique. And for 1996 was impressive.
BigMacDavis the invisible bridge thing has thrown me off in the early levels, I didn’t realize it was there! Like map 2.
@@Allstin Ah yes, Well of Souls. Name is a reference to the first Indiana Jones movie. And, coincidentally, the invisible bridge thing is also in the third Indiana Jones movie. Crazy.
BigMacDavis ahh! I see they made a pun!! Or a cool reference. I dig puns and wordplay. I haven’t seen those movies. Just played a little of PC games.
fun fact, my twin brother was the one that showed 10 different advanced techniques for doom mapping on a magazine (included how to do the invisible bridge) he was also the one that made Phantom.wad (based on the phantom of the opera)@@BigMacDavis
Wow! On the Hunt returns. I can see how it feels for this stage. LOL at the comedic Lost Souls infighting with the Revenant, and the funny Lost Souls and Pain Elementals comment, as usual. Nice vid.
With all the respect the Casalis deserve, the second arch vile is totally unfair, with no place at all to cover
That second arch-vile? I run past him, hop into the pit, blast the specter demon, then use the stairs for cover to pick off the gunners. As long as I stay close to the edge, the vile can't throw his shots straight down. I can step away, shoot at him, then step back to the edge again. Once he's down, I get on the lift and collect the rockets. Nevertheless, this is a splendid walk-through; much appreciated!
Man....i like a good challenge, but The Plutonia Experiment is crucial. Mainly because of the lack of health/ammo. The amount of ammo, blue spheres (forgot their name) and megaspheres on TNT was at times so much, it made certain spots too easy. I could use a chunk of the ammo and health in The Plutonia Experiment. The first three levels, where i barely had any health/ammo were like levels of TNT midway through with hella ammo/health. Man, I'm almost done with this level. I hope the levels start giving out more health/ammo. I can deal with traps/enemies, but trying to kill multiple archviles, mancubi, barons with limited rockets and limited shotgun ammo sucks.
That first Mancubus was just asking to be chainsawed.
Lost Soul fighting a Revenant? Damn man, talk about "Derpy"!!!
Aztec, by Millo. The second arch vile trap is a bit overwhelming. How nice for them to create so many chaingunner traps!
This map was relentless with traps. They always put a wall behind you... It's like.. whichever bro made it though, "Hey. That last trap in map02 was awesome. I'm gonna fill this map with 'em.". Sure, I'm sure people can ace this map all day long, like you. But I'd love to see someone ace it without ever playing it before. Those archviles... they're evil. Which... everything else is evil, too. :P
Strange, this one didn't show up in my subs. Curse you, impractical UA-cam layouts.
This map is just so claustrophobic and the monster layout is fucking deviously designed, placed in ways they can best use their strengths against you. When I was first playing this wayyy back, I had so many rage quits on this map.
They do use Arch Viles a lot in this WAD. It's not as bad as Hell Revealed though which has three times as many! (I'm seriously not kidding there is about 300 in HR as opposed to 99 in TPM
I remember losing so many ammo in the invisible bridge room, sniping all ennemies...
Great memory from way back when.
the floor is basically lava beneath plates of rocks, which really should mean damaging if your that close to it
I got really lucky with the second Arch-vile trap. All of my SSG shots managed to stun it!
It's driving me a bit mad, there was a level I tried in Final Doom that started you off with a double barrelled shotgun but not a lot of ammo. There was a room early on with about 50 (It seemed) Revenants in it. That always killed me. I watched all of the TNT playthrough, and it wasnt there, so it has to be Plutonia, if I was right about it being in Final Doom at all. But not so far! It had an out doors green and wood aesthetic, that's all I remember. Well, I'll keep watching just in case I was right...but I'm enjoying this a lot anyway!
The arachnotron killed the second pain elemental, and the revenant did the same with some of the lost souls
Even them can't bear those enemies
I got thursday off, so i'll be able to catch up with the videos i've been missing. I've done that alot lately, and hopefully when I catch up i'll watch each video on the day it's posted. I'll save my questions for my next comment (sorry buddy). Nice work sir.
I never thought a Plutoniacould be so hard and yet be so fun. ^^
2:16 What I do is wait for the Revenant to fire a missile, then raise the Archvile so he gets hit by the missile, which will distract the Archvile for a bit.
I’m expecting this man to tell me “why don’t you take a seat”?…
You know, I would have died 70 times in this level. Good going.
The room at 3:47: To avoid the annoying Pain elementals/Lost souls, I let them come to me: I just step up to the beginning of the bridge and then, I hide behind the corner (like you did because of the Arachnotron). So, the Pain elementals can't even spit out one single Lost souls if you wait for them and using the chaingun.
I knew I had played through these levels by accident one time. I just didn't know where they came from
For the archvile shoot just before he comes out. Gotta have a feel for it.
5:52 -you make me look bad!
Any idea if I can get back up after falling off the crossing @ 8:00?
1. Did you ever fall into the pit at the beginning or end?
2. For the 1st question: What would your reaction be for both the pits if you were to fall into them?
3. Do you like the card game " Free Cell "? I'm making a walkthrough to see how many of the 1,000,000 I can do, so feel free to check it out.
i like the commentaries... u did a good job... it works
hey davis just curious what time zone you live in?
You should always use protection.
Bigmacdavis question in zdoom sourceports can lost souls noclip through walls and get stuck making it impossible to get one hundred percent kills if you are using a zdoom sourceport?
I've never had that happen in the 10+ years of using the port. The port does a solid job of killing the lost souls if they're gonna be spawning inside walls.
Oblivious arachnotron is being uploaded. I literally stood there and punched him and he didn't even notice
On the 4th level now. I'm already regretting playing this blindly on ultraviolence with no saves between levels
This game's map designers are so Clever small maps but too many enemies
I've fallen into the starting room pit before :(
Sorry, dude, but the second trap is totally unfair. You depend of what the archvile might do
I can't pass the invisible bridge part without taking damage. As long as I press the switches, the arachnotrons and the fucking lost souls attack me and I can't go back without taking serious damage, even with the 200% armor.
02:40 I wasn't even enjured by him. :) 2-3 rockets + 1 shot of supershotgun close
The strange teleport that takes you right back around the corner....essentially doing nothing.....you called it a "co-op"....what did you mean by that? I've always thought that teleporter was a bug in the game, but I'd like to know what your take is and what you meant by 'co-op'. Thanks
He means 2-player "co-op" mode. i.e. the teleporter is only useful in that mode.
I can think of one place where the chainsaw gets used (hint: on February 25th)
5:52 Hahaha. Yeah, The pillar was stupid.
Okay, I am just going to save before I exit, If I dont get 100%, watch your video. I got it all in one go, I mean I have no ammo, But I did it. Also fuck the trap with the hell night and fireboy, took me far to many retires not to die.
I wish this was on xbox one.
Prepare for a long comment:
Trap at the beginning and end, either say " fuck " at the start, or just an inch from the end, lmao. The teleporter that just takes you a few feet away, pointless overall. The area with like 4 chaingunners, reminds me of floor 3 of my " guten tag " demo with the ss's (nightmare, lol).
I like to chainsaw mancubus and pain elementals+(lost souls)
Plutonia has way to many archviles. I’d rather see to many spectres.
Yep that's my problem with this game too it uses alot of chainguners Archviles and Revnants 2 Archviles from the first Map it's crazy
Completely missed the red card.. Thanks for this vid
No problem, glad the video helped. :)
Indiana Jones vibes anyone?
Indeed.
i think the teleporter might be for if u somehow get on the other side of the wall that blocks your way of getting out...
0 dislikes
the area where u got the chainsaw, well u should of murdered that Mancubus with it, i did, and it was FUN!!
the only way i can beat these Plutonia levels :::: save every time u kill an Arch Vile.
Wow this map sucks
Disagree. Plutonia has well designed maps.
This was my least favorite map due to the first archvile trap. But other than that, the map is great IMO
It's even worse with pistol start since there is no SSG. Everything has to be fought with rockets, chaingun and shotgun.
