You can't trust your mileage computer when you put bigger tires on. You're probably doing better than you think.. full your tank, use a GPS tracker for a full tank of gas. You need the GPS tracker because your odometer is off because of larger diameter tires. Go back to the same pump and fill up again. Then do the math using the miles on your GPS tracker and the gallons used to fill it back up. There's no way that you're losing 5 MPG
You know, it is what it is. You want to offroad and or adventure overlanding? You can't be obsessed with MPG loss.
I like how you reacted to anyone that didn't ask about the larger tires making your miles per gallon read wrong on your cluster. You didn't acknowledge that, just acknowledging everyone else. Have your ducks in a row, man!!
Great videos! You did alot of work on your cruz, you inspire me to work on mine and i learned alot from you!
If you didn’t recal for the bigger tire size that mpg reading isn’t correct.
Was your speedometer recalculated with the larger tires? Just for the heck of it clock your speed with a separate GPS (cell should work). I will guess that the Santa Cruz's speedometer will indicate a few MPH slower than the GPS. Although the tech of today's cars may not care about the difference in tire circumfrance in relation to indicated speed.
Been waiting for this one! Nice work! With the lift and bigger tires, do you find that the speedometer/odometer is off? Is there a way to recalibrate it or do you just need to do mental math while driving?
The speedo is off, but only .5 per 10mph
At about 60 on the car your actilly doing 63mph and I haven't found any thing yet for recalibration. I just drive it like normal though haha.
Let me know what you wanna see in the next video!
Was wondering how was coming with some more aggressive a/T . Wonder if geo lander would do better on their .
Might have to try a set of those when these wear out!
Hmmm... I think you got your offset wrong as others don't report rubbing with that size. Did you gain like 1" in ground clearance as well with the bigger tires?
Yeah, definitely gained 1" of ground clearance. If I take the wheel spacers off up front they don't rub any more. But I like how it matches the back.
Plus 45 offset won't clear the banjo bolt in back though. So it's kind of a weird mix
Hey quick question how did you get the roof bars with a non turbo?
Check out our Santa Cruz Playlist!
There's a video about installing the rails. And dropping the headliner lol.
What do you use for gas? Corn sqeezins or 91 without? My Avalon gets 4 mpg better on 91. BTW, your 'Cruz looks a lot better with the meaty 31's
Just the cheap stuff haha. Maybe I'll run some experiments though
If you ain't rubbin, you ain't racing!!
I wanted a Santa Cruz, but they don't make them so Westerners can FIT in them.... Too dang SMALL of Seating.
Made for Twinks, not real men, and I'm not "tall" either average 5,10. I just have some muscle, not a lot, but you know, real man.
I’m 6’8”, 245# and I fit just fine. Of course no one would want to sit behind me…but I is usually just the two of us, so that’s not an issue.
I have BF Goodrich 265 60 18 TA
How do you like them? Hows the performance?
@AdventureGT A little noisy but they are very good tires and I get a lot a good traction when I go off-road.
I also have a 2. Inch lift kit
