Melacca itself is a bustling city, but it has its soul deeply hidden inside a small peninsula inside the city. This area is called a kampung, in Malay and the Kampung's name is Morten, a British name.
Ibrahim, our guide from a very well known family here in Kampung Morten takes us on a tour of his historical family house and lets us know about how life was back in the day here, in the village inside the city.

In those days, the Malays are known as great sailors. Some of them sailed up to Sr Langka and even to South Africa. That is why there are Malay communities there and that answers why ' congkak' you find in Malacca is similar to that of South Africa.
Hahaha, i also remember me and my family just walking around that area, and we look at this very fascinating village house. It was a very spontaneous as well. We came and Pakcik Ibrahim greeted us, invite us to his house and told us the story of the house. He was very friendly , and at the end of our tour, we will sit at the guest house to write our attendance to the house, we even left some tips for the house. It was a historical house.
Pakcik Ibrahim already old and i wish him long and healthy life. You're lucky to visit his house and toured by him. I wished his next of kin will do the same to keep the heritage.
Wow! What a beautiful and amazing house! The people of Malaysia are very gentle and so simple, they are so sweet. I love Malaysian village and villagers. Melaka is one of my favourite places. It's a terrapin, not turtle nor tortoise. It was probably hot in that area. That is why he kept escaping to a cooler & darker place. Ibrahim lives in an amazing museum ! Great video.

The Malay gentleman speaks excellent English, product of the previous (old) government's education policies. Sadly all those good policies are gone. gone, gone. We could have produced more of these excellent Malaysian ambassador to all international visitors to Malaysia. The new government doesn't value or see this, sigh...
