I love when people make videos like this! They’re so much fun. I absolutely cannot understand why some get offended. There are many plants, both extremely sought after trendy plants & really basic ones that I find absolutely hideous. We all have preferences & that’s a good thing. Can you imagine if every single one of us wanted exactly the same plants? Some of them are already so difficult to acquire. We’d all be even more frustrated & paying even more for them if we were all hunting the same ones. I honestly think it comes down to insecurity in our own preferences. If someone not liking what you like upsets you…put away your keyboard & find a therapist
Seriously! Plants I don’t like videos might be my favourite. When people mock my favourites I laugh, it’s funny! Often what they say is true! It just doesn’t make me dislike them.
Tranquila, todos pasamos por ese tipo de etapas... Espero que ya te encuentres mejor! Estos videos son excelentes para pasar un rato genial! Saludos ✌🏼
Life would be so dull, if we all liked the same things! 😄 It's always interesting to hear what someone doesn't like and why. It gives us a different perspective. Fun video!
I laughed so hard when you mentioned that the Pothos n'joy looks fake and like people got it from IKEA, 'cause I have a really big basket hanging in my bathroom and I DID originally buy it at IKEA, and I swear it's real Fern! :P
I love to see why people don't like certain plants because it helps me to decide if I genuinely like it or if it's just imbedded in my head to want to NEED it. I appreciate the content!
I actually think the manjula is really pretty, especially when they are lush, HOWEVER I definitely think they are way over-hyped and think they should have a similar price point as any other pothos🤷 such a fun video!💚
I totally agree about the global green pothos! The variegation is so subtle that it resembles shadows on a plain green leaf🤷🏻♀️ N’joy/pearls & jade I dislike for leaf size too. Though I do think Manjula is pretty, I’ve never had one. Thanks for another fun video 😊💗
I agree with you on everything except the Pothos! I absolutely Love Pothos and want all of the different ones. I got my first manjula a while back and love her so far!! Still love your videos and if people can’t disagree respectfully then they should not comment at all!!
I agree with a good number of them, but I am one of those people who does LOVE variegated banana. I love it for the reason you hate it haha the straight lines making the blocks of variegation are so satisfying to me because it looks so neat and tidy!
I mostly agree about the banana tree. I think it’s so beautiful and breath taking. But I’d never want to own it. I definitely prefer jungle vibes and it for sure gives laboratory.
I feel a different vibe with your haircut! I don’t know why, but it seems to me that you look happier and blissful… maybe it is just my perception, but I hope it’s true because you deserve the best ✨🙌🏼
i think i get what you mean about the unnatural look of the silvering anne....it looks built. mechanical or machine like. lack of green doesn't look like it grows.
I can never unsee the duck foot now 😂😂😂 Honestly I agree with you on all these, other than manjula. I tried p&j, and I just don't love it! Tiny leaves for days.
Love this video! I agree that it’s neat to see how our plant preferences can change over time! I have several plants in my collection that I wouldn’t get again. Thanks for sharing your choices, they were spot on 😆
"Hindeous sinus" lmao 🤣 also i love how you are bashing the sinus and the stark contrast veins but then your cuddly anthurium pillow kinda looks like a regale to me 🤣
I can actually agree with everything you said! I had to laugh so much, the way you descrived the alocasia and the anthurium.. You have no business being that funny 😄 Love these videos!! ❤️
I actually love hearing what plants people really hate/love. It's so much fun! You've quickly become my absolute favourite youtuber. Your videos are exactly what I want to see in the plant community. Real, fun, honest. Not to mention you ooze this lovely kindness that comes across on every single video.
I’m just getting back into house plants. I don’t have or seen the plants in person that you were discussing. However, looking at the pictures (which I’m sure some of them were photo shopped) I like the plants the have the lines running through them. I might not like them in person or if I got one I might not like the care of it. I love how you came back and did an up date. I find I change my opinion and mind on a lot of things lol. Hope you have a great weekend and week.
Wow!! That Alocasia definitely gave ebbed feet vibes 😂 And the silver lady definitely grew on me- wasn’t my favorite scindapsus but I snagged one, and she’s pretty classic looking. I really like the ScindapsusSilverCloud. But I totally get seeing that “faux” plant look
People need to let other people have their opinion! I love all pothos i think, and if you don’t that is OK ☺️ do not like begonias thoug, they look strange 🙄 also i think the banana look cool 😅 great video as always Fern 🥰
You ARE entitled to your opinion...and yes over time you do get a sense of what you really like . I have bought plants that I now don't like... love your videos
I thought you’d mention the geogenanthus ciliatus (however you spell it). Its a new costa farms plant and everyone is freaking out over it but its so ugly to me. Love these videos Fern 💖
They’re so ugly! They kind of look like rotting purple cabbage you’d see in your compost. Somehow, I still want one 🤦🏻♂️ I guess some things are so ugly that I want them just for the novelty 🤷🏻♂️
I was hoping that you would talk about a plant that's on my current wish list so I could maybe strike one off and save myself money, list is just as long as it was before watching this 😂
I agree with a lot of these except the manjula 😂 I love my manjula I actually have 2 big pots 😭🤍 I do have an N’joy & global green but I’ve contemplated giving them away so many times lol they stay bc of the amount of work I’ve put into getting them lush 😁
I'm pretty sure the last plant on your list is actually a Xanthosoma! It's one of my favourites currently, mostly because I don't own anything (namely anthuriums) that looks like it! Personally, I feel that when it's placed alongside other more plain-coloured houseplants it looks a lot better/less loud and intimidating.
You did really well to identify what it was about each plant you didn't like; end of the day its all about opinion and taste and these videos when you explain yours are fun although I have to say I was relieved when none of my faves made your list! Keep up the great work :)
"I mostly recognize it.. because I don't like it tho.." 😂 LOVED this video! I agree with every word about the banana, anthurium, duck feet alocasia, pothos, and caladium 👏 I think my favorite pothos is snow queen tho (no offense, Greta 😅). I actually like the lynamii color, i just think its so boring after 😴 Honestly, my rojo conjo is so much prettier, huge dark leaves, a reddish burnt color that can last weeks, and a cheap price tag 👌 I actually love all the new scindapsus though lol. Still trying to snag a Brandi 😫
Hey Fern, great video as always! Can you drop a link to that robe that you're wearing?? Just did a quick search and didn't find it but I would LOVE to know where you got it. xx
I completely understand you. I personally love discussions like that. Differences in preferences are the thing which makes the world beautiful, I totally agree.
I agree with a lot of these. And honestly, I don't understand the popularity of variegated plants in general- I've seen some that looked cool, but sometimes it just looks so weird to me, like the leaves have some disease or something. And they kinda remind me of those army camouflage clothes.
Omg my manjula took like a year to start really growing. I’m so not used to that with Pothos! I do love the watercolor look to the leaves but yeah my marble queen, cebu, and golden are so much easier and faster growers
The variegation on banana plants looks like it was sewn together lol totally agree. I also kinda hate those pineapple plants. And anthuriums look like lungs to me but I still appreciate the contrast with the vein!
I totally get what you’re saying about global green. I got one a few months ago and I ask myself every day why I bothered. I might just make it a “gift plant”.
I get it. Most of the new variegated pothos are looking weird to me too. Some plants just turn me off. I have a question for you, have you ever gotten a plant and hated how it grew, looked, or whatever? I have a couple that I thought I would like but…..they aren’t making me as happy as I thought. I’ll go first: Hoya linearis, Hoya pink princess, any pepperoomia, alocasia, moonshine sanseveria, or even the average snake plant with the bright yellow margins are no go’s for me after they lived here.
If you give N'joys high light conditions, they will grow larger, more elongated leaves. Their variegation looks cooler/diversified too! More like a manjula pothos. I brought home a basic n'joy and noticed they were getting bigger in my east-facing window.
You make me laugh---" that hideous sinus".... I had to rewind ,I laughed so hard & so long. Feels good to get this off my chest... I dislike Golden Pothos, there I said it. Whew. My mom had one hanging in the bathroom ,kind of over the toilet. I've always been a weird dreamer & in the middle of the night , if I got up to pee, I'd go back to bed & dream it was trying to strangle me. I would glare at it during the daylight, but was terrified of it at night. I really hated that plant.
I do agree with you on a lot of the plants. When they have all the veining they actually look like fake plants. People have their own opinions of what they like and don't like and should not be giving you grief about yours. Love the channel
Hahah, You’ve just showed me a plant I’ve fall in love with, that I didn’t know before. Great video, cool to see your angle and interesting to hear reasons for it. Thanks:))
Totally agree with the silver lady (no offence to those who like it), but I much prefer the agyraeus variegation. The silver lady looks like it has swollen variegation
Completely agree about the Anthurium, all the truly common ones look the same except for color of the flowers and the rare ones all have the same veiny look and leaf shape. I can’t tell one from the other because they all look the same plant in different sizes. The only ones I like are the Queen and the Delta Force because they are different.
Love pothos so much, just i agree. My njoy is boring. It really doesn't grow and doesn't do anything exciting. Just keeping it to keep it since it's so low maintenance haha but I'm excited to get a manjula finally!
Three things: 1. I understand depressive episodes, so sending warmth and love from Florida. B. I think I just used this list to add new plants to my wishlist 3) my “hate plant” is the verrucosum *blech* it always looks sick to me
This video had me laughing out loud multiple times. Your comparisons and facial expressions had me rolling. I was worried I wouldn’t like the video because I feared you’d hate one I love but this was my favorite and lighthearted 👏🏻
the choice of outfit was perfect hahaha. It's also been depression hour over here, winter is hitting hard. I also don't love the variegated banana. Thanks for sharing!
I feel like you would need a certain style and hopefully be able to use it as a centerpiece. They would just stick out like a sore thumb in my collection
totally agree with you about the manjula, plus here in Australia it's still ridiculously expensive. i've seen them in person a few times now and they don't justify the price tbh
I’m sort of opposite from you on the pothos. I love the cute little leaves of n’joy and pearls and jade (can’t tell them apart though lol) and the weirdo leaves of Manjula. While you gotta love a golden I don’t care for marble queen. I love green on green variegation so I really want a global green and eventually I’d love the green phase of the scindapsis. Great video!
Of course, these videos are “all in good fun” i enjoyed your views a lot, agreed with some, disagreed with others, ce la vie! Had a chuckle along the way! Totally agree with the pearls and jade pothos! I bought mine because it had an all green section in there. I actually trimmed it out and propagated my “jade” pothos, took forever to grow, but it has much bigger leaves than the mother plant and i love it compared to the original. I have found my tastes change over my plant hobby, you couldn’t pay me to take home another dracaena (not the sanseveria kind) waiting for my last 3 to meet their maker. I just can’t bring myself to toss them, and don’t have any planty friends local, and am not going to pay to ship a low cost plant.
I agreed with all of them.....funny that. Your explanations were pretty on to it. I think quietly this vlog was a good release for us all. Brantianums are a pretty shingle plant. They rock! We don't have them in Nz. Cheers, Jo.
I just recently got into plants... and I love flowering plants, but I didn't realize that people went crazy over the leaves... but I agree some look so fake. And I think leaves aren't as fascinating as a flowering plant. 😀 to each there own.
I saw the first one on your list and I was instantly in love with it. 🙈😆 So I do not agree with you on that one but I do like a lot of graphic design and somehow it reminded me of that, if that makes sense. That is why it really makes sense to me why you don't like it, because you seem to like the more natural patterns. 😃👍
I get the same vibes you get from the banana plant from the variegated Peru. I feel like the variegation detracts from the leaf texture and makes it look kinda sick. I think the unvarigated Peru is absolutely stunning and one of my favorites. I find the manjula, global green and n joy/pearls and jade hard to grow. I have a really cute pearls n jade with some n joy it that is finally cute and full and long, but she was on the “might get rid of” list for about 6 months. And what’s the difference between N joy and glacier pothos?! They look the same and the grow like snails.
This was super interesting. I disagree with a lot of your picks, but that's kinda fascinating. I love hearing different perspectives on what people like/don't like and why. I quite literally love and drool over pretty much every plant on your list. But I love it 😂
1. This was my favorite intro. 😂 2. I agree with all of these... ESPECIALLY the caladium drag. I was cracking up at the comment of breathing on it and them dying. 💀
I totally agree with you about the plants with veins that are far too light and prominent! There’s something very off putting which is weird because my favorite “color” is black and white stripes (I know it’s not really a color but… lol) but something about having TOO many veins that are too light just seems so ugly to me. The banana tree is the only one I differ on because I like the type of variegation that looks like it’s been painted with water colors, but I can totally see how you’d find it unnatural and weird looking! It’s so interesting how different people perceive beauty. I hope people are kind to you!! Everyone is allowed to have their own perception of beauty.
Love your mug ;) I'm with you on just not loving some plants. I'd love to see you revisit the last in a year and see if you change your mind. I find that what I like keeps changing... not drastically, but still
Clubfoot is probably the most unexpected description for a plant leaf.🤣 I agree with you on almost all of the plants except lynamii. Variegated bananas are ugh! I grew up with banana trees in our backyard. How dare they mess with food.😄 Njoy pothos can have bigger leaves. Maybe they climbed on wall There are photos on IG. Mine still about 3" long each and it's reaching the top of a 5ft pole.
As I’ve collected so many plants and I love what I have so far my new favorite thing is to find plants I don’t like and say “ugly”. I learn new plants and I just have fun actually not finding yet another plant I want 😅
I agree with you so much on the variegated banana and the anthuriums. I love my lindenii. I will say I feel the same way you feel about global green and emerald pothos about all the Hoya Krimson Queen/Princess/tricolor/rubra etc. 🤷🏾♂️
.. Well said girl.. Simple as that☺️.. Not all plants speak to our hearts, and not all plants makes us fall in love with them, no matter how popular, overwhelming and overrated they might be.. And not all plants likes us either.. I'm completely in love with all my pothos and their climbing philodendron siblings, Chinese Evergreens, Calatheas and Dieffenbachia.. They might be simple and somewhat ordinary, but they are beautiful in their own way 🌞🤗
I’ve seen someone grow an njoy pothos up a moss pole, and the leaves got a lot larger. But still, the “big” leaves were about the size of a standard pothos leaf
Love watching/making these types of videos. It’s always interesting to hear other peoples opinions. I agreed with eeeeverything you said EXCEPT the pothos. Broke my heart hahaha
Hahaha I like all of these. I like striking foliage. And njoy was one of the 1st plants I bought ages ago along w my Marble queen which is still my fav plant. Caladiums do best outside but can't take the winter but they strike me as outdoor plants. I have a few. Glad you decided you liked the brandi. I love mine. Shes so pretty. I love all of those diff variegations. And hey...you can like whatever you want. I hate crotons and snake plants. People are always surprised. We like what we like.
Ok where did you get that bear jacket?!?! I NEED it! also I agree about the anthuriums, the crystallinum, forgettii, and clarinervium look identical IMO lol and I have a crystallinum. Glad to know I'm not the only one going through depression hour rn. Fell better soon Fern!
it's a robe! here is the link: www.lavieenrose.com/en/faux-fur-hood-sherpa-robe-salted-caramel-4060005620021?gclid=CjwKCAiA866PBhAYEiwANkIneBQl-TZ484kLfq-buSVmqR-sIbR9dzpADL75TfvBHEDmUjQxjt5aEhoC1J8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Great video!! I just got a caladium lindenii but only cause it was 50% off and i was setting up a terrarium, also i didnt know it was a caladium 😂 it has a kinda cool fuzzy stem/petiole with orange hairs which i enjoy and grew a new leaf as soon as i replanted it in the terrarium!
I like the variegated banana plant but I think it’s a little busy and I would only have it in a space where there were not a lot of other plants. Not a fan of Anthurium or Alocassia personally.
The silver lady for me looks a lot better in person. The silver just looks so metallic and it's definitely less green than the exotica. Also firmer leaves that the exotica.
Doesn't like Anthurium Regale, has a Regale pillow behind her hahaha, just teasing! Its cool to see how our tastes evolve the longer we keep plants!
Was just going to say that too! That really tickled me. Haha
No hate but It’s actually a Gloriosum lol, I see what you mean tho haha
@@kameronwilkes6929 ohhhhh hahaha I think you're right now that you mention it! 😂 Ok Fern gets a break from my failed attempt at a roast 😂😂😂
hahaha 😩😩😩
wanted to comment the same thing haha

This was uploaded at the perfect time, I'm having a depressive episode and your videos really help to calm me 💜
I feel you & I'm sending you love. You've got this and you'll get through it.
Sending you a YT hug, positive thoughts, strength and that happiness takes over your and everyone else’s depressive episodes. 💜

hahaha!

V Banana plant totally looks like a plant would in an old school video game.
Yes ! It looks almost 8 bit pixelated lol
I just HAD to comment. At my local Walmart (I'm in the US) I found a varigated bear paw succulent! It's so cute 😭
no way!! yassss 🐻
Totally agree about the global green, so happy someone said it! It's very pretty, but the golden pothos imo is prettier
haha that cracked me up "weird sinus vibes" Ive never looked at a plant like that before. Loved this casual video!

My mom had one hanging in the bathroom ,kind of over the toilet. I've always been a weird dreamer & in the middle of the night , if I got up to pee, I'd go back to bed & dream it was trying to strangle me. I would glare at it during the daylight, but was terrified of it at night. I really hated that plant.
hahah oh my gosh! hilarious.
Exotic all the way!!!
“That hideous sinus” 😂😂 ah I had a good laugh. Love you and your vids!! 😘
Completely agree about the Anthurium, all the truly common ones look the same except for color of the flowers and the rare ones all have the same veiny look and leaf shape. I can’t tell one from the other because they all look the same plant in different sizes. The only ones I like are the Queen and the Delta Force because they are different.
I love your videos💚
Golden Globe Potho definitely agree with you there it looks like a Manjula reverted. But I love Manjula.
Tbh I agree with you on most of them but I ADORE my pothos manjula and I am offended to my soul that you dislike them 🥲
your pillow looks like an anthurium regale
I agreed with everything you said up until the Manjula. I love the variegation and leaf shape!
Awesome. Love these videos from you. They’re funny and that’s what they’re meant to be. Don’t stop doing them.
“Old bubble gum” 😂. I love the realness of this video! Thanks for sharing your opinions.
Love your mug ;)
I'm with you on just not loving some plants.
I'd love to see you revisit the last in a year and see if you change your mind. I find that what I like keeps changing... not drastically, but still
it's my favourite mug thank you 🥺💚
i love how much of your reasoning is "it just weirds me out" because honestly same. some plants just give me bad vibes 😂
I learn new plants and I just have fun actually not finding yet another plant I want 😅
this is so funny those pothos are some of my absolute favourites, especially the manjula
They might be simple and somewhat ordinary, but they are beautiful in their own way 🌞🤗
I agree with you about the Regale. I am obsessed with my Worocqueanum though.
Lol.
I’ve seen someone grow an njoy pothos up a moss pole, and the leaves got a lot larger. But still, the “big” leaves were about the size of a standard pothos leaf
THANK YOU! I don’t get the hype on the minute differences on anthuriums! They totally look the same.
I’m going to go hide from Kaylee Ellen now. Lol
The Pearls n jade, Manjula and N'joy pothos are so squicky looking. No surprise it was created by exposing pothos to gamma radiation.
!!
Love watching/making these types of videos. It’s always interesting to hear other peoples opinions. I agreed with eeeeverything you said EXCEPT the pothos. Broke my heart hahaha
Philodendron Lynamii is “Baker-Miller Pink” or “Prison Pink” it’s an anxiety inducing color, so it makes sense that you don’t like it
whoa. this is fascinating! that could be why, it's giving me institutional vibes.
manjula is sooo slow growing, but the leaves look painted to me which I love
Some species you really only need a couple varieties because it’s hard to tell the difference.
