The info here on the fan clutch self tightening is CORRECT. You will screw the fan clutch on by hand, and snug by hand, when the engine starts, it will tighten it even more...no need for holding back up and putting a wrench on it. Good info right here. Thanks for detail!!!
Lol. It gets confusing. But what i said was if the fan normally spins counterclockwise to draw in the air the you have to turn it counterclockwise to remove the fan clutch of the drive pulley. In this case the water pump. If, in another vehicle, it normally spins clockwise to draw in the air the you have to spin it clockwise to loosen it (left handed threads). In this example you noticed that the fan blade have to turn counterclockwise to draw air so i turned it counterclockwise to remove it and clockwise to reinstall it. Hope this clarified everything. Thanks for watching.
another way to think about it is to just look at which direction the leading (front) edge of the blade is pointing to. That's the direction to loosen. Leading edge points left, turn left to loosen. Leading edge points right, turn right to loosen.

This is the best and most logical explanation of fan clutch removal.
Thank you!
How do you stop the crank from moving?
Dude - thank you for the simplest of explanation for this. Saved me the brain damage!
Lol
If you are replacing the water pump, you can look at the threads on the new one.
Thanks because I was all confused
You said your car fan turning counterclockwise but you did lose the nut same direction!!!
Thank
I'm just going to get Electric fans. My brain hurts.
😂
Naturally you need to know direction of one pully
Bro you said if it spins counter then it’s the opposite way to loosen then said spend or counter to loosen clock to tighten .. wtf

I wondr if people realize odd pullys same direction even opposite direction
Zipp
No shit..your the one who needs a tip..lol..
, I’ll save you the bull shit, loosen every fan clutch the same direction the motor is turning. That will remove it every time
