The PRV DPS 2.8 is a nice DSP for sure. It's 2 input and 8 outputs. I like it because it has multiple remote outputs. So, it can turn on your amps when it has power. I seen it in action a couple years ago at Slamology and it performed well.
Hey Parker, you didn’t actually set any crossovers. Yo set the parameters but left all of them at “off” on the “off” tab you can select the slope, and you have to select a slope in order for the crossover to actually activate. Maybe you did this off camera but if not, know that it wasn’t actually doing anything. Also on the amps you need to turn off crossovers and or set them to Full-Range.
Hello you seem very knowledgeable on this matter I have the same DSP and I have issues with setting the filters because there are so many. Can you help me out with this?
he didn't really show anything that a DSP can do, that a system without a DSP can't do. splitting can be done with a Y-cable (even tho DSP is a cleaner solution). crossovers for each channel can be done on most, if not all amps. turning off sound on channels doesn't even require a tool a DSP in a sound quality setup should be used to tune the sound in different frequencies, and if it's a good DSP, it should be possible to tune it to perfection, making the sound quality far better than it is without a DSP. proper DSP tuning requires a mic, otherwise it's pure guessing based on preferences and how you hear the sound, while the mic can measure each frequency with accurate data
The cap you show is the crossover (passive versus the amp or DSP units active - before the power crossover). Additional caps, coils (inductors) and resisters change the slope of the filter (how slow or fast the frequency falls off) They change the frequencies that are passed and can attenuate the actual output to better align it with the other drivers in the setup. Running passives and actives like you are doing is a form of a band pass crossover; it’s referred to as cascading the crossovers. DSP done correctly (mic'd up, using included software) WILL make the difference between a good sounding system and an incredible sounding system.
What’s nice is you can save like 10 full settings you yourself make for different playlists or moods your in. I have a Stetsom one that you can hook up 4 different amps to and I have another one I don’t use that can run 8 diff amps off of. Literally hours of fun/frustrating messing with settings

Loved this video. Please keep doing a full range of car audio equipment videos bro please? Maybe even head units, more amps, wire, rca’s, how to install relays, more box building videos. Etc. keep up hard work
That is not a DSP! One RCA input, really. A true DSP has 6 to 10 inputs and outputs, has high level, line level, coax and toslink inputs, you can sum the inputs into one output, has time delay, has phase shift of 180 degrees, has remote volume knob, has remote turn on, can start with signal sensing, and has high pass, low pass and bandpass settings, has 12 or 24 db slopes. WHAT YOU HAVE THERE IS MORE OF A CROSSOVER, NOT A DSP. CHEAP SHIT.
Taramps lets you run up to 6 amps. To do so lets say you have a sub, mid, drive and tweeter all running on its own amp. For all you can run an adapter that converts your dual RCA to a single RCA thats how you run only on one channel
Quick question. I have two amps, one for my sub and another amp with 4 Chanel’s (Front and Rear speakers). If my front speakers are component speakers(speaker/tweeter) what output should I pick from the DSP. Mid or High’s. Definitely not sub output😂
These things have low voltage coming out of the RCA outputs. I've been battling with my MARTS dsp for a while because it causes a hiss in my system unless I turn down the master gain. Which kills the RCA output voltage down to below 1 volt.
HELP!! MY HIGH LEVEL INPUT AINT WORKING? is thier a SETTING in the MENU? rn im using my OLD ragged LOC thats total shit and im really wanting to BUY ANOTHER one before i mess up my Super Expensive Q Series L7
To oversimplify it... For each output, set your HPF and LPF surrounding the frequencies you want that driver (speaker) to have outputted to it. For example: If I wanted my door speakers to play everything above 70hz, I'd set the HPF at 80hz and the slope at -12, so the audible output of that slope would begin in the 70s, and not setting a LPF so it plays everything above that. For your equalizer, imagine a 🐫's back, only not as peaky. The middle "valley" being around 1000hz (1k). From there, tune individually to your ear's pleasure, but that's a good basis of representation on how music should be heard.
Here’s a cool fact: Mazda 3s (gen3 atleast) have a digital sound processor built in it’s the USB phone charger port and the music it outputs sounds incredible if you guys don’t understand let me know and I’ll make a private vid and send you the link
I hope you have used that to Eq the sound and not just as a crossover. So many average speakers systems could be transformed with DSP into nice systems
I have an old clarion 6 band equalizer in my truck looks like this has a few more features but would I gain anything really having this processor compared to a eq or they kinda do the same thing ?
Considering getting one of these. One question if I may...... Would it work to run an rca signal out of this unit back up to the bass knob at drivers seat then back to my amp? I don't wanna give up my bass knob. Thanks!
6:22 Just got this DSP today. Unfortunately the crossover wasn't even used in this video because where it says "off" is where you select your filter type (linkwitz or butterworth). When it's set to off it's off completely. Thanks.
@@electriclightbulb1232 what do you have your sub channel and mid channel set to? If I have only one mid amp do I tune for the mids and let the crossover on the tweeter filter out?
I don’t have a head unit either but I have some nice amps that have lpf hpf I’m so confused that’s the difference between just tuning it on my amp lol unless it’s a dsp with a mic built in
Great review Parker!! You know if you can reach out to taramps it might be cool to have another model available with a rca out so you can hook up multiple crossovers if you have a lot of amps. 👍👍
PRV 2.8 is the exact same thing with 2 additional channels. Eventually you'll want something with more bands of parametric EQ. These only have 1 input and then 1 output per channel. More expensive dsp's have 31 bands per channel
Doesn't the head unit do most of this? I can set SUB and speaker crossovers on my cheap $60 pioneer head unit. And if you did a speaker/sub amp combo each of those have their own crossovers as well right? DSPs don't seem worth it to me.
This is for stock head units that have literally nothing included. Don’t expect much for sub $100 if you want a real dsp that’s $500 but I heard this ain’t bad I’ll report back in a week
I need some advice I have six rockford fosgate p3 12s and was wondering what would be a good bass amp for my subs?? I'm looking to spend $400 to $600. I have a 320 amp alternator extra battery and 0 gauge wire.
I'm in the process of purchasing a good DSP because my car a 2018 honda accord with premium sound system, and the head unit does a lot of bad things to the sound, So I need something not sure what to get yet. any recommendations?
I have one of these, and my problem is I can't figure out where to mount it so that it's accessible and I can change things on the fly without having to crawl into the back seats. I'm very very open to suggestions cuz it's super annoying. I'd like to be able to change settings on the fly, test, tune, all that fun stuff
hey Parker The Bass head your mids and highs is running separately but how do you calibrate the mids and highs so the mids and highs is working togerther?
That unit be better with taramp amps cause using a single rca cable would give you 6 channels or use a rca splitter to use all 6 Chanel’s or your stuck using it with 3 amps in stereo. If using Korean or amps with both rca hookup tAramps has the 4 channel model probably be a better option.
yeah I run my mids and highs separately with my bedroom stereo system my speakers work perfectly when I do that yeah the speakers can’t work without running separately
With the noise it might be as simple as the RCA’s are to close to a power source, lets positive wire is close to RCA. You might have to a ground loop or ground the processors, or even a name brand amp. Nothing against taramp but i had noise coming thru my stock unit, i was using a cheap amp in my highs, it went away when i put the skar 4 channel. So it might be as simple as running a good amp
what do you do if you only have 1 amp for your mids and highs? I have one of those coax systems with a crossover with 2 outs for mid and two outs for highs. can this eq control that amp and send mids and highs or do i need to have two amps?
If I own a head unit that had three rca output for front rear and sub. And it has all the same crossover settings for each output what advantages would a dsp give me over the head unit? Also my h.u has 32 band equalizer that lets me tweak each band with 30 clicks of adjustmen
Trying to understand why I also would need it?Variable crossover on my head unit with 3 sets preouts plus my 2 four channel amps have high and low pass filters bass eq plus my skv2 has all the features to adjust to my taste. Seems to me it would be unnecessary but willing to learn if someone can explain why I need it.

Did you end up fixing it? For me the hissing is always there, but when I add my sub output the hissing gets louder
@@briantoolive Turn down the DSP output gain to 10 or 11. Thats the only way I can get rid of it.
JacobViral just did a vid about the stetsom version no we get the taramp nice
HELP!! MY HIGH LEVEL INPUT AINT WORKING? is thier a SETTING in the MENU? rn im using my OLD ragged LOC thats total shit and im really wanting to BUY ANOTHER one before i mess up my Super Expensive Q Series L7
You can play up to 6 amps with this one processor, something nice to have in your car
Would like to see a video on how to properly set crossovers and equalizer and any other information would be very helpful thanks
You can copy one input to another instead of matching all the settings individually.
Parker can you please do a review about the TT technology w18s 12" subwoofer
Here’s a cool fact: Mazda 3s (gen3 atleast) have a digital sound processor built in it’s the USB phone charger port and the music it outputs sounds incredible if you guys don’t understand let me know and I’ll make a private vid and send you the link
I run off my Kenwood excelon 16 band eq! Sounds clean ! Nice video 🤟🏽! Do you like the epicenter?
Hooked a similar unit up in my buddies car it had an app that you could bluetooth to and everything
It's called an expert px2 it has a 28 band eq and is totally tunable from an app on your phone
Did U figure out the static sound? I'm getting static in my speakers as well.
You figure
What kind of fuse was🗣️ thatvon the power wire going into the processor
Now would you have to do all your settings on each amp or would there be a master/slave situation?
Does this remove factory "road noise remover audio" from the newer cars that play a bass noise the faster you drive?
So other than pretty lights and a neat screen, how is this different from a Hifonics HFXR 3-Way Active Crossover?
that thing looks awsome
I suppose you can connect output 3/4 on dsp to channels 1/2 on your amp and 5/6 on dsp to 3/4 on your amp right? Or no
I like how it can shut 📴 if not needed I put on off switch on remote wire to do the same in my car highs amp an Bass amp an my movie bypass wire 🤙🏼🔊🔊
💯💯
You turned off the crossovers on the radio but how do you set the crossovers on the amps to play nice with the DSP??
You turn them off, the DSP will only send the frequencies you choose to the amps. No other crossovers needed.
I hope you have used that to Eq the sound and not just as a crossover. So many average speakers systems could be transformed with DSP into nice systems
What all wiring do I need when installing this dsp? I have a 4ch amp, mono amp and factory head unit
I think that they should add a bass knob to it so u can control the volume of the bass will drive
This!
I have an old clarion 6 band equalizer in my truck looks like this has a few more features but would I gain anything really having this processor compared to a eq or they kinda do the same thing ?
Hi Parker, which capacitor is best suited for a tweeter
If you have a different amp for every speaker couldn't you make those adjustments at the amp?
I have 2 amps
That im gonna use for sub
Mid/hi do you think i need DSP instead of using a ordinary 2 way Crossover?
The HPF for my sub..
If I set it at 30hz, it will cancel out all below 30hz? -12 slope?
Parker what's your take on using a dsp in conjunction with a crossover 🤔
Great demo
You said messily😂😂.you need an intro parker!!
Yeah I didn’t even notice I said it until someone commented 😂
😆😆 messily I gotta use that term!!!
Sounds like others also had noise issues with this brand dsp. You get what you pay for.
Yup
Considering getting one of these. One question if I may......
Would it work to run an rca signal out of this unit back up to the bass knob at drivers seat then back to my amp? I don't wanna give up my bass knob. Thanks!
Yes you just run the dsp to your bass knob then out to your amp. Just installed mine that way and works perfect
6:22 Just got this DSP today. Unfortunately the crossover wasn't even used in this video because where it says "off" is where you select your filter type (linkwitz or butterworth). When it's set to off it's off completely. Thanks.
How do you like it 2 months later?
@@ssjdavid still working good, does what it’s meant to do. I don’t have a crossover on my head unit so it’s doing its job!
@@Titans2138 Wow thank you so much!!!
What good is it if you cannot level the frequency response curve of your entire system like other DSP's can?
I'm in the process of purchasing a good DSP because my car a 2018 honda accord with premium sound system, and the head unit does a lot of bad things to the sound, So I need something not sure what to get yet. any recommendations?
Awesome video 👍🏻👍🏻
I have one of these, and my problem is I can't figure out where to mount it so that it's accessible and I can change things on the fly without having to crawl into the back seats. I'm very very open to suggestions cuz it's super annoying. I'd like to be able to change settings on the fly, test, tune, all that fun stuff
Put it in your glove compartment
Around the 6:20 mark why did it shut off and then the video cut and it was back again. What went on that was cut out in that section?
Is this capable of do a bandpass for the mids? Or does this only do hi/low pass filters?
I just got this and hooked it up.. but how can you do front/rear fade? If i use front outputs fading to rear cut out the sound and vice versa
So if I use that do I still have to worry about about adjusting the high and lows on the amp for the sub and the 4 channel amp?
hey Parker The Bass head your mids and highs is running separately but how do you calibrate the mids and highs so the mids and highs is working togerther?
That unit be better with taramp amps cause using a single rca cable would give you 6 channels or use a rca splitter to use all 6 Chanel’s or your stuck using it with 3 amps in stereo. If using Korean or amps with both rca hookup tAramps has the 4 channel model probably be a better option.
Ok now I want one of these. I really don’t trust taramps though. Had 2 amps that lasted about a month
Love it!!!
yeah I run my mids and highs separately with my bedroom stereo system my speakers work perfectly when I do that yeah the speakers can’t work without running separately
I personally like the one that prv makes but hey cool video bro.
Love taramps but not a fan of that unit. Makes a lot of noise. Get the Prv one i had luck with that one.
Right on the prv dsp2.8x is the way to go.
I got the Stetsom DSP and love it. Very similar to the PRV but less expensive.
Got the Prv dsp2.8 and still got noise
I think they’re all the same shit unless you’re spending $500 lol
Will this increase say 1v rca to 4 ot 5v? I am thinking of getting this for cheap android headunit
Very helpful
Glad to hear it!
Awesome thanks
Do you adjustable anything on the amp?
I would get a dsp but my wiring looks like hell with the stuff I have hooked up. Lol 2 amps and a epicenter looks like spaghetti in my trunk 😂
Would you still need a line out converter?
With this dsp yes. With one like a Dayton or audiocontrol that takes high level, no.
Mr Ox got BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!
what do you do if you only have 1 amp for your mids and highs?
Parametric eq and time delay….
I’m using a LOC.do I run the loc main output to the dsp Main input.
How can I run a loc to dsp??
What IS your head unit bro please
been there ,
15 year aggo started testing ,
hahaha car audio in home is way to funn to miss out
