I love that Chris very, very clearly only walked through the steps of working out and giving Binwin cover out of spite, purely knowing it would do nothing to help. It's glorious!
I strive in my life to experience the same level of utter joy, wonder, and amazement as Jerry Holkins' at 31:27 when Chris brings the airship out for the players. As a player and writer, I've always loved creating fantastic worlds in my head and on paper, and seeing these come to life is magical. As a DM, I can also imagine how incredible Perkins felt when he incited that level of amazement and wonder in the players and audience. It's amazing to be able to explore amazing and magical worlds as a player, but it's far more rewarding to be able to give someone else that experience. Way to go, Perkins, way to go.
+TCCflow He's really good at manipulating what a DM like Chris wants out of him though, too. Probably doesn't hurt he's a creative mind like an author or whatever but he gets away with all the cool shit he wants, to comic effect as well I might add. (I love Viari as well but as a player myself I really appreciate the cool shit he thinks of to do in character, but even still, Chris lets him get away with a LOT, and nobody notices that same thing more or comments on it more than Scott Kurtz, who is my absolute favorite).
JacksonDubyaC Yeah, well he's a writer. D&D has churned out lots of actors, directors and writers, and he's no exception. I think there's a reason it's so well connected to creative industries and creative people. But yeah Chris just loves seeing his players do amazing shit, which is why Viari gets away with literally just about anything he wants. It doesn't hurt he's a rogue, too, who you would expect nothing less than him swinging from chandeliers and swashbuckling etc. lol
You can see on his sheet it says "7th level Rogue" and "Sneak Attack 4D6" which you get as a level 7-8 Rogue, so at least at this point he is a pure rogue.
Anyone else agree with me in saying that this could make a great tv series i mean they air live Poker tournaments on tv I can easily seeing people watching a group of people go through a quest as we watch them take the risks of rolls or different actions and if they're as funny as the 5 of them, we could just as easily have plenty of fun mid game banter as well
... why would you want it on TV? DnD casts fit perfectly were they are now ^^ life play on a stream or at an event and afterwards uploaded on the streamingsite or youtube imo TV would only take something away since there cant be any fan/chat/crowd interaction on TV (aka no "GREEN FLAME" and so on ^^)
46:39 Patrick gold! These have always been kind of dodgily cut, and this one's no exception (which is fine! This is the live footage!). This year is the best, though, and whoever said "Cut to camera X, zoom on Pat's face!" was a genius. Dice cam was a great addition too. Listening to the audience react to rolls you couldn't see must have been... emotional?... to anyone sitting at that table.
i just stumbled across this somehow i dont even play D&D but it was the most enjoyable thing ive watched as a game and the props are insane what a great imagination the creator has, well done to all of you, you are all very entertaining, keep up the good work. GREEN FLAME :D
I really enjoyed this, they are all such legends. And i agree with what someone else said, i'm kind of on foot in the nerdy world one foot out, and the most amazing thing about D&D is that people don't posture or pretend, they are just unabashedly themselves and I love it.
This is the first time I have commented on UA-cam. I have watched all of the D&D videos for the past 6 years. I was absolutely amazed by Chris and all of the Characters. Games like this are why I love D&D!
Its actually really appropriate considering there are 5 types of Chromatics too. The '5 heads are better than one'' joke work really well to since the end boss of this campaign is Tiamat, Goddess of the Chromatics and a 5-headed Dragon.
I cannot even begin to express how happy these live games have made me. Every year I am delighted to hear about the new PAX D&D game. It's like a holiday to me. I'm sure this will get buried, but thank you so much for continuing these games.
1:43:20 "Oh wait...isn't... aren't they plans that don't work together?" In this (or any) Acq Inc. recording, I don't know if there's a question that is that simultaneously sincere and hilarious.
So, last time they decided to not do too much and just sit around and RP it because they thought they were being too over-the-top or something... And THEN... this happened. And it was amazing. I love the way Chris DMs the group and they all had me laughing the whole time. As always, I can't wait for the next adventure! I hope they do it at PAX South!!
You know how you sometimes get songs stuck in your head? Right now I've got Scott Kurtz going "Double axe to the baaack" going round and round in my head...
The d4s with the numbers on the bottom were standard back in the day. I used to pick them up and read the bottom on the side my thumb was on. Now, they all have the number on top - where it belongs - and I've started to think I was imagining it. This video confirmed my memory. Thanks! Lol...
I'm really enjoying the adventures of Acquisitions Inc. and the special guests! Each year it appears that they raise the stakes and quality even more so. Just watching these sessions and listening to the various podcasts has reignited my passion for the game. On the subject of Wil Wheaton: he was a bit distracting at times, however he added some great role-playing moments to the games. I take offense to the clearly butthurt Trek fans who hurl personal attacks against him in the comments. Grow the hell up and be a productive member of society. The show ended twenty years ago (if you don't count the movies), yet people still hold a grudge against Mr. Wheaton for allegedly defiling their precious television program with his presence.
Wow~! This one was the best one in a WHILE. 2013 game was up there with the sheer amount of awesome stuff but this one felt like an actual table top game. Sad that it took the previous session to set up such an amazing session but this one was off the chain. Also, amazing reveal there in the middle top tier for sure. 110% amazing.
1:19:50 is one of my all time favorite moments in this series. I’ve come back to it for years! Always makes me laugh. “Sure, whatever number you want!”
This is probably one of the best D&D games I've seen so far... and I've seen alot of these Acquisitions here on youtube, and this one, is by far! the best one.. I mean waow.. honestly.. waoow.. I'm lost for words here..
Best Acq Inc so far! Critical hit rules have changed? Starter set / PHB says toll the damage dice twice, then add modifiers, Chris is using Max damage plus an additional die roll. Mistake or did I miss an update post release? GREEN FLAME!!
It was just a house rule, no one was caught up on current rules. Basically, they were using older playtest rules for crits, which personally, I think are better.
XDependent I am speaking directly about 5th editioni XDependent. If you check out the "5th" edition starter set and PHB, both state roll damage dice twice then add modifiers.
"When is it's the ship's turn?" Lmao, so many great moments in this session! I wish they'd do like a every other month thing for this xD I wanna know what happens next!
Miscount by Scott at 2:00:35 How did this happen even with the camera? That extra 9 points may have prematurely killed the dragon. My guess is Chris knew and either the true damage count was enough to kill it anyways or he did like he did in other points of the game and went easy on the crew.
Now I don't watch the podcast, but just today I started watching these (Starting with the Darkmagic estate) and just now getting here but when I saw Morgan Webb I kinda nostalgia'd out (I watched a lot of X-Play as a kid.) Man if they got Mr. Wheaton back that'd be awesome. I love Rothfuss, Morgan Webb and Wil Wheaton. And I didn't know Jerry, Mike or Scott before today but I really think they are funny. Great DND game to watch, I laughed and enjoyed the story all at the same time. Great people, great DM=Awesome times. Can't we just be happy something like this exist? I sure am
Everyone single one of these either scott or mike make a joke that isn't really funny but they will always share a look like an old married couple that have a really exclusive sense of humour. i love it.
Love these things. Its awesome to see something I used to play being enjoyed like this--I remember getting picked on so hard just because on the weekends I enjoyed gaming. This bring back some awesome memories. :)
ahh.. i've been watching all the AI's from pax over and over... it's like a nugget of humanity free from politics, greed, hostility, and anger... love being a nerd... the very best people.
I like both as characters and even more in other shows. But Pat cannot be beaten in my opinion, and the Bard/Rouge gives much more play than an elf full of hate. Pat may be a worse board player (always looking for unexisting bonuses, or passing an acrobatics check with a one) But he does now how to tell a story, he has the ability to talk over any circumstance. Much more fun in a live show, maybe less if playing w/ him
Don't worry man, I do as well. Wheaton is lovely individual, but Rothfuss knows his shit. The man puts Viari's personal appearance above all else, constantly: "Will I look cool?" Honestly, he's the best D&D player I've ever witnessed.
So I haven't been paying attention to the years on each video but I just realized this is the last one till next year I'm a little heartbroken I've enjoyed the series for the past 4 days now
1:39:00 All I could think of when Patrick started talking about shooting the guns was the line: "From Hell's heart I stab at thee!" which ties in with Scott's Wrath of Khan references.
Inspiration grants you an advantage when acting in character. I wonder who that could have helped before. Maybe, SOMEONE NAMED AEOFEL! I know it's a new feature.
+Robert Paulson too much attention is for certain, aofell was supposed to be with acquisition incorporated all the time. the only real problem with wil wheaton, is that when it comes to gaming, hes a fucking sore loser. i mean come on, he died and he took it personnally for like 3 years in a row. nah wil is a cool guy, but a fucking sore loser. hes too competitive for his own good at that point.
This episode was great. bringing back Viari (spelling) was one of the best things they could have done. He was great last time and great again. Him and Binwin going back and forth this time was awesome.
Yay, Villari is back! For a rogue he is amazing with his damage output, funny that he outshines the fighter. What a epic group to be sure, long live acquisitions incorporated.
So many folks out there thinking that Critical Role or Adventure Zone started the live play game thing Meanwhile these homies back in 2007, Full 7-8 years before both
I love that Chris very, very clearly only walked through the steps of working out and giving Binwin cover out of spite, purely knowing it would do nothing to help. It's glorious!

I was thinking exactly the same thing
Viari is actually one of my favorite characters ever.
+TCCflow He's really good at manipulating what a DM like Chris wants out of him though, too. Probably doesn't hurt he's a creative mind like an author or whatever but he gets away with all the cool shit he wants, to comic effect as well I might add. +voteZDLR He gets away with it because he is so creative, plus his skills tend to back up what he can do.
JacksonDubyaC Yeah, well he's a writer. D&D has churned out lots of actors, directors and writers, and he's no exception. I think there's a reason it's so well connected to creative industries and creative people. i think he's a bard multiclassed into rogue or vice versa
You can see on his sheet it says "7th level Rogue" and "Sneak Attack 4D6" which you get as a level 7-8 Rogue, so at least at this point he is a pure rogue.
I can't stop re watching these videos.
Still here, enough said
still here.
Player: *rolls a die*
Crowd: *looses their shit*
God I love D&D
Binwins jab at Patric Rothfus taking his sweet time finishing the king killer chron is amazing! best joke of the session!
i dont want to put pat on blast here, but the joke still holding up, kinda hurts.
@@bagrym 10 years later, it's officially vintage humour.
@@Nilbop its getting worse, but not any less funny. but in the mean time he put out a novelle, so there was at lesat something? :D

If it had a good DM like Chris Perkins for example,it would be absolutely amazing!
... why would you want it on TV? DnD casts fit perfectly were they are now ^^ life play on a stream or at an event and afterwards uploaded on the streamingsite or youtube
imo TV would only take something away since there cant be any fan/chat/crowd interaction on TV (aka no "GREEN FLAME" and so on ^^)
drizzt7dourden7 Do it in front of a live audience. Maybe make it participatory in some way.
drizzt7dourden7 I think the hope is for more frequent content.
you may want to look for itmeJP's rollplay show, it is kind of what you described (xept on youtube instead of TV)
Hands down best session I've seen from them. Gotta hand it to Morgan she was very helpful. Everybody did great. Can't wait till the next session
If you have giant's strength for more than 4 hours, contact your druid.
Scott Kurtz was on fire in this episode! He was funny as hell too! :)
at the last minute, I jump up.
What color fire?
46:39 Patrick gold!
These have always been kind of dodgily cut, and this one's no exception (which is fine! This is the live footage!). This year is the best, though, and whoever said "Cut to camera X, zoom on Pat's face!" was a genius.

2024 and my heart is still full of joy 😭
"I'm not a bard ,bards are wankers"
Written 2 books about what is in everything but name a Bard.
Big fan of Morgan Webb since her days on G4. Attack of the Show and X-Play are missed greatly.
Just seeing her on tv everyday was great
I really enjoyed this, they are all such legends. And i agree with what someone else said, i'm kind of on foot in the nerdy world one foot out, and the most amazing thing about D&D is that people don't posture or pretend, they are just unabashedly themselves and I love it.

Its actually really appropriate considering there are 5 types of Chromatics too. The '5 heads are better than one'' joke work really well to since the end boss of this campaign is Tiamat, Goddess of the Chromatics and a 5-headed Dragon.

Oh no doubt it was the best.

I want Will back as well. Didn't like Morgan...At all.
Never before have I seen a DM look more smug before a game, love you Chris, you are epic and glad that you seem to know it :D
On Patrick's character sheet, his bond is listed as "I will become a vested member of AI"
That is my real life bond.
I cannot even begin to express how happy these live games have made me. Every year I am delighted to hear about the new PAX D&D game. It's like a holiday to me. I'm sure this will get buried, but thank you so much for continuing these games.
The bald Cleric guy had to pray to God to climb a fucking roap, and Viari just sort of flopped his way through the most successful turn ever

Chris Perkins is like the coolest fuckin' dude I ever met.
Yet again the story was told. A magnificent and legendary story with heroes and a dwarf. It was a glorious ride and I'm glad it is shared.
I already watched it on twitch but I came here to like it and Comment!
1:33:08 Paul and Storm cameo as stagehands, and the crowd cheers!
Chris Perkins the best DM ever has to have his own TV show wow wow wow
+TheOuterLimits Omg, that would be amazing!!
He kinda will, they are making an acq inc series on the penny arcade tv channel. It's supposed to come out in June!!!
That moment Patrick walked out and the crowed went nuts, awesome :D

Mike and Jerry do a web comic called Penny Arcade, and are the ones who started PAX. Which is why they're doing it at pax lol
Brett Carter Scott also does a webcomic called pvp. But he is most famous actually for this. Or most recognized at least.
***** I also read PVP. It's just as funny :)
Everyone single one of these either scott or mike make a joke that isn't really funny but they will always share a look like an old married couple that have a really exclusive sense of humour. i love it.
I love them the most!!
That was great. I hang out for this game every year and this one was by far the best one yet. Well done.
1:19:51 Scott cracks me up reacting to Patrick's turn. holy shit LOL
Scott was the only one with the sense to call him out
I still come back to that exact moment year after year. It never gets old.
By far the best one of these yet and that is saying something.
he can never reference the time he killed two dragons without bringing up axing the sister in the back now
Love these things. Its awesome to see something I used to play being enjoyed like this--I remember getting picked on so hard just because on the weekends I enjoyed gaming. This bring back some awesome memories. :)
I love the DM's throne!!!
Took me this long to start watching these shows, and now it's absorbing all my free time. Lol. Excellent game!
ahh.. i've been watching all the AI's from pax over and over... it's like a nugget of humanity free from politics, greed, hostility, and anger... love being a nerd... the very best people.
Kinda feel like you read my mind just then! I couldn't agree more!
100% agree
you should listen to the podcast! Even more content!
i love you guys and the fact that its 2014 and people are loving d&d
Am I like the only person who actually likes Viari more then Aeofel?
Definitely not, I like Viari a lot better!
Much more fun in a live show, maybe less if playing w/ him
I love Viari, eggs deep!
Don't worry man, I do as well. Wheaton is lovely individual, but Rothfuss knows his shit. The man puts Viari's personal appearance above all else, constantly: "Will I look cool?" Honestly, he's the best D&D player I've ever witnessed.
CPTHAP I'd love to have a D&D session with Rothfuss! The man is golden with gaming! Loved his bit on TableTop with Lords of Waterdeep :D
I always look forward to these, they just keep getting better and better, well done guys!
Chris *was* being weirdly nice to Pat
Man has that ship stayed in the harbor! :D
Jim can cast spells even when he's out of components. In 5e a focus (like a magic wand or two) negates the need for material components.
So I haven't been paying attention to the years on each video but I just realized this is the last one till next year I'm a little heartbroken I've enjoyed the series for the past 4 days now
Damn I missed it for 16 Days that a new one came out. Time to get my popcorn and cola out. I love this!
Episode 1 of the Acquisitions Incorporated Series just came out. Go check it out in the PennyArcadeTV channel
Good job Acquisitions Inc. I loved every second of it. And as always nice work Chris and WOTC staff getting everything together.
Thank you ProJared, this is awesome
For what? Banging Holly Conrad?
It is my eventual dream to have Morgan, Patrick, Wil, Jerry, Scott, Mike, and even Straub. . in one epic quest.
Patrick's face at 46:40 is priceless!
you can see his thoughts were on drinking cocktails on a breezy summer day aboard the airship being waited on by beer robots, sylphs & dryads
1:39:00 All I could think of when Patrick started talking about shooting the guns was the line: "From Hell's heart I stab at thee!" which ties in with Scott's Wrath of Khan references.
Jim Darkmagic - Binwin BronzeBottom #bromance
Love how you took your time to number theese episodes
how does Jim not have permanent Inspiration?
Because it all goes to Vari
The two guys that took half of the castle away were the same that sang in the 2011 pax dnd at Jim's house!
Lmao the only reason acquisitions inc keeps coming back is because Chris takes every chance he can get to cosplay something hilarious
He fucking loves it
Oh my God, when Viari and the Acq. Inc. ship came out, I was so happy.
I also like how they did the "top-down" view for the die rolls.
Gregg Majikas
that camera work was genius. i hope they continue with that
Inspiration grants you an advantage when acting in character.
I wonder who that could have helped before.
Maybe, SOMEONE NAMED AEOFEL!
I know it's a new feature.
+Robert Paulson Some games were nice. Nobody can be great every time. He is not so like that on his channel.
Never played D&D in my life but I still love watching this every year
46:39 made my night
This episode was great. bringing back Viari (spelling) was one of the best things they could have done. He was great last time and great again. Him and Binwin going back and forth this time was awesome.
I was hoping aofel would make a comeback. But viari is awesome too lol
This is so awesome. I would love to play a game with Chris Perkins.
guess they dont get that corp policy around illusions set up.....2015...poor jeff
Never. Ever. Stop. You make my day. That is all.
they make my life
I would kill for whole campaigns animated like that.
I hope that wil and pat get together in the next game, that duo of pun masters would be legendary!
Fuck yeah baby, costumes are back!
One of the best, so far!
Wrath of Kahn! Scott your a genius!
I still play Sundered Skies! Savage Worlds!
Double Axe to the Back!
Wow holy cow, you completely scored awesomeness with the flash animation recap and the custom gear :D
Is anyone else picking up a really loud, high pitched buzzing noise that happens whenever the audience stops applauding?
Its the motor/fan of the balloon propeller.
Yeah, there was an extremely high pitched sound at times in the first parts of the video. Long before the balloon appeared.
1:50:30 I read your comment immediately before Chris started whining, and I snorted laughing.
I was waiting for this! Thank you!
Let the marathon begin!
Alright headset warning around 14:36 so watch out.
I thought I needed to see a doctor
Came to the comments JUST to see if I needed a doctor. lol
Saint Ronan What happens?
GuitarTheGuitar an evil feedback
Saint Ronan You mean that wasnt my occasional tinnitus?
Yay, Villari is back! For a rogue he is amazing with his damage output, funny that he outshines the fighter. What a epic group to be sure, long live acquisitions incorporated.
1:46:12 he obviously hasn't seen Scanlan use his bard skills on Critical Role. - yes I do know this is a year before critical role.
So many folks out there thinking that Critical Role or Adventure Zone started the live play game thing
