I'm there with you this Christmas season, and honestly, they are the same for me, especially 2011 and 2012, they are just filled with feel good energy, never fails to put a smile on my face.
There is such a huge difference between scripted humor, and genuine improv comedy. The fact that these guys are totally winging it, and coming up with joke after joke of non-stop humor is enough to do 4d10 of gut busting damage.
Chris Perkins shows that you don't need ridiculous awesome great super fantastic maps and/or miniatures and replicas to tell a great story! I enjoyed this as much as every other Acquisitions Incorporated and I'm looking forward to the next session. Also: Everybody was on point and on fire as usual! I love to see Morgan and Will Wheaton come back! And: Now we all have to wait for the next live session. So sad that there is obviously no time for more podcast-sessions. It takes so long till the next part of the story! But I am patient. Some day I will be there to see this live!!! #lifegoals
Pia Lotta Kpunkt Right? I can't do in one session what he does in two hours! Can't wait to see what they do at PAX Prime, if they do another one this year that is.
Sean Comer lol I wish I could find a group who would play D&D in my area. One of the drawbacks of living out in the country I guess :(, oh and I'd LOVE to see Wil come back! He really gels with the rest of the group well.
COMICBOOKJEDI1 Nah, they just never do the big extravagance at east. Make no mistake: Penny Arcade and WotC collaborate for weeks to months before Prime to do those big set pieces (though they don't spoil anything for the players themselves). It isn't just that "Chris didn't have time."
29:25 - Omen, the contract guy 52:35 - could it be? 1:13:10 - how to one-shoot enemies, with a cantrip 1:16:20 - many choices of rays 1:22:05 - is sneak attack applied??? 2:00:30 - "I have a lot of sway in my two-handed Maul" 2:02:00 - "is this whole room a truth zone?"
35:10 Can we all take a moment to appreciate that Chris Perkins actually had a character foresee this city burning to the ground and it actually happening (pax unplugged 2022).
@TheGIJew. exactly, especially when you consider Jeremy Crawford was the one running that particular season of Acquisitions Incorporated. I mean, if Jeremy remembered this particular moment and specifically wrote to the end of the 2022 campaign to allow for that moment to happen, that is just amazing levels of attention to detail.
Most hilarious gaming session ever, the whole Jeff thing, and they way it all played out, I was laughing so hard I was crying lol, Jim Darkmagic, you're my hero!
Matthew Mercer is awesome, but in a different way. Mercer's focus seems to be on story and engagement, while Perkins balances this with "whatever works" in the context of making the game most enjoyable. I would be honored to sit at a table with either!
The adventuring party get back, and the base is a complete mess. The leader of the party turns to one of the guards and asks, "What happened?" The guard turns to him and says, "Corporate was here."
When they said they were in Baldur's Gate; the moment 'Jeff' said they had a new recruit in the training room, I was hoping it would be Minsc. Literally squealed when the DM confirmed it.
Why would you want him to hurry D: Just remember; Day 1 was released 2007, day 2 was 2011, so if it takes ~4 years then we can expect it this year or next!
Everybody says Chris is amazing for his storytelling, but I'm thinking that's not all of it. Seriously, whenever you watch him tell the story in front of a live audience and it's his turn to talk he always seems to be fidgeting, or fiddling with props or doing something with his hands. If this his version of him dealing with nervousness, I take my hat off to him for still being so calm, creative and amazing all these years.
Another hilarious video, I love how they are all to supposedly be good, including omin, a paladin yet none of em hesitate to screw over any number of characters or each other. Chris Perkins once again makes the game come to life And enjoyable. They keep outdoing themselves. Too bad we probably have to wait another year for the next session.
1:16:20 I cannot believe how fucking fast "Charles" and "Romano" came out of their mouths. These guys are so fast on their feet with those quips that it blows my mind.
I haven't played D&D since 2010 and have been wondering why all of my friends started playing out of seemingly nowhere these past few years. I now know why. This entertainment value is ridiculous. It's so good. Back in freshman year of high school no one had even remotely the same amount of dedication to entertainment for D&D that these guys have it makes it so much more appealing and reaches such a wider audience now. I'm impressed and I'm glad my friend showed me this today.
I wish these games happened more often. Every two months or so. Obviously schedules conflict with each other but I can't get enough of these guys. They should release them on DVD with a bunch of extras and stuff. I would buy them.
This was amazing! One your funniest sessions ever! Patrick Rothfuss was yet again an amazing player as well as a comedian (loved his corporate banter with Jerry). The fact that he was laughing his ass off half the time made it fun, too. And of course, the rest of the party was awesome as always.
Best one yet. Seeing Chris Perkins DM, seeing the will to improv, and jam a story from the group. Damn, makes me longing for all that again. RPGs are hot shit, and this is a wonderful example of it. gg wp
Absolutely the best Acquisitions Incorporated EVER. Loved it! These guys need to get together and do this at least once a month (if not weekly), not once a year...
This was my intro to Acq. Inc., I was there live for this. I still think it's my favorite because of that, even though I've listened/watched all the adventures, multiple times.
voteZDLR Sort of. Inspired by the latest iteration of the show but a bit more Tolkien than 'toon cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0250/6222/products/PonyFinder_sample_page_1024x1024.jpg?v=1397139295
At first i was a little dissapointed that the epic map from last pax was not topped as they were the last few times. But when Chris mentioned the true point to D&D was just to simply to sit together and have fun playing a game, it made me so much more happy :D
The highlight of the episode for me. I once had a player ask if they could sneak attack with a ballista (of course they could), but this certainly is a step up from that.
In all my 11 years of playing, watching, and GMing, I've never heard a player ask if they could sneak attack with a chandelier...and now every dungeon I make will have a chandelier in hopes the rogue will use it like that.

This one was pretty amazing. Chris did a good job balancing the threat/dmg vs how much resources they actually had. I REALLY WANTED TO SEE WHAT THE FLINT DAGGER DID.
bigludo22 I think they are kinda getting tired of that joke themselves, especially when people ask what color the flame is. IE: "it's clearly Orange" and in another game Jim's like "the flame's purple, I am sorry, that's just what it is".
Thanks for getting the video up so fast! I was able to watch the live stream on Twitch, and it was pretty awesome. If you can convince everyone in AI (and Chris Perkins) to do this more often, I would be estatic! Let us know if we need to hound WotC more about it, 'cause it needs to happen. You guys are the best, thanks.
When Omin ran in to try and heal Jim, he totally could have known it was Jim. He was in Jeff's office watching magical cameras when Jim disguised himself.
Can anyone tell me what the dramatic music in the vignette intro cartoon is? I know I've heard parts of it before but other parts sound so much like the Monty on the Run music.
Man, I wish they could all bury the hatchet and have Scott come back. I don't think there's bad blood with Pat, but he's been gone for a while too. Would love to see Viari again.

+VicRules666 You don't need an extravagant map to have a great game of D&D. It was a great map. Anyone who thinks otherwise lacks in imagination (which is a huge premis behind D&D to begin with).
I liked the idea of the maps. And I didn't mean to say that I didn't. I just love the dioramas they have at the Prime shows. These maps are fun but don't have the same wow factor. These are 'exhibition matches' for D&D, they should have some showmanship. But this was fine for the Pax East show :) Also, I liked Morgan cause she kept the show from being an absolute sausage fest. Bring on some female characters :)
slymaster9 female players bring something different to the game and it's always something I welcome. I would like to see a meeting of all the players, past and present. Not having Morgaen there was a little disheartening this time around, but the boys entertained as usual.
Christmas day, 2020. All alone and its been a hell of a year. Yeah I think I'm going to rewatch my favorite Acq Inc adventure.
Merry belated Christmas :)

I was in stitches watching the stream on Sunday.

I really love the concept for the setting. Moving rooms as a slide puzzle? That's incredibly clever.
