This song always brings back a specific memory. My first apartment... I had friends over for some beers and this song came on the radio. We were inebriated so we started singing "Row Slide" (instead of Slow Ride) and laughing hysterically. Inevitably... I think of that every time I hear this tune. In any case... it's a fun tune to play. You're 100% right about that audience head bop.
Okay, replying to my own comment is a little weird but I want to get entered to win that ukulele. LOL. You lived next to Bob Trowe as a kid.
I've ordered a 'Skully' and am buzzing inside, I cannot wait to show it off!!
When I was a kid,a guy named Floyd Link ran the Skelly station. Flattop haircut and a Foghat button on his shirt. Now my wife says I need a Stubby Slide and she needs a slow ride.
I imagine you had a great time knowing Bob Trove who played Bob Dog,but you make this difficult for an old blind man such as I. Thankfully I see a bit and my ears and fingers are excellent!
Thank you once again Shane, Bob Trowe "Bob Dog" from Mr. Rogers' Neighbor was your neighbour when you were a youngster.
Bob Trowe. I’ve owned your T-shirt for many years. Thanks for watering my passion for cigar box guitars
Jammin this tune around the circle at the local skate rink as a teen. What fun!!!! Bob Trowe “Bob Dog” from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood in Mr. Speals Next Door Neighborhood.
I have loved this song since I saw Boston in 1975!
You are an awesome teacher. You remind me a lot of Adam Gussow the great Harmonica player from Mississippi. He has alot of UA-cam videos. He teaches alot like you!!
Great Lesson! Back in 78' when Life had it's own soundtrack that played in my head and I ran the 2 mile on the high school track team - this song would start about lap 6 and taught me how to push through the hard laps. To this day, at 59, it still pops into my head and is helping me to run farther while getting the rhythm right! Thanks for the Great Lesson!
I really enjoy and learn with your videos at the 3 strings that i make. I did not know anything about music, but now i can scratch sounds at my 3 strings!!!! Thank you
Another great lesson at the perfect pace for me. Thanks. Bob Trowe "Bob Dog" from Mr. Rogers' Neighbor was your neighbor when you were a kid.
And I for one am certainly grateful for my first semester at Speal Blues University
I love how your shirt looks like it is strumming at approximately 9:30. Great lesson. Thanks
Another great lesson Shane! Your childhood neighbor was Bob Trowe who played “Bob Dog” on Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood. BE Well!!!
Shane your university videos are currently the best foundational lessons going ! Nice and easy to follow, perfect speed for all players. I'm always amazed at how many CBG builders can't play a lick.. Well here is their chance ! Three lessons so far that are building on fundamentals. Glad you aren't sending everybody to patrion for the FULL lesson.
Will support the channel with one of your awesome jack knife slides ! Waiting for Friday now like a kid waits for Christmas ! Love C.B.Gitty and your University lessons....and that Gittybucker !!! Boston Mike
Keep them coming Shane! Love these blues tutorials 👍🏻
Bob Trowe. Love the blues-rock lessons.
When you were a kid you lived next door to Bob Trowe who played "Bob Dog" on Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. That's cool and explains some of who you are!
Go Shane go. You pick the right Jams!
Bob Trowe lived in Mr. Speals Neighborhood! Great lesson as always, thanks!
Bob Trowe.....keep up the great work on teaching us the cigar box guitar
I love Foghat, too! Great lesson, Shane! That's cool your childhood neighbor was Bob Trow. I watched Mr. Rogers Neighborhood growing up and I remember Bob Dog!
One of my favorite songs.. I got the honor to meet and greet foghat back in the day. Thanks Shane for putting this out there. Bob Trowe played Bob Dog.
It is so cool that you live next to Bob Trowe from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. This lesson was slowed down so well that I was able to find a method of using my thumb to mute while playing one handed. I can get the rhythm down just trying to get the riff filled out to complete the song now. Thank you Shane Speal for another great lesson.
Dazed and confused always comes to mind when I hear this song. Thanks for this one.
Bob Dog 🐶!!! Loved him so ❤️
Thanks for another great lesson. Very fun that you lived next door to Bob Trowe.
Another winner of a lesson. I too, am a fan of Foghat.👍
Thanks for the lesson! I saw Foghat in concert in 1977! It was my first concert attendance! I haven’t thought of it in years. Thanks for the flashback!
This lessons is good for beginners to even those who have played for awhile. Lot of us old folks remember well growing up hearing this song. Maybe we also remember Bob the Dog played by Bob Trowe on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.
We Want Another Olds Sleep Jam Session!
Great song. Great lessons. Keep 'em coming former neighbor to Bob Trowe / "Bob Dog" on Mister Roger's Neighborhood.
Great tip about having your finger behind the slide Shane - sounds so much better. Thanks for that 👍
Cool lesson Shane. Bob Trowe is the answer for the competition, but Shane Speal is the answer for improving my playing! Thanks again. The Force is strong in this one.
Great lesson. Love foghat. ✌️🇦🇺

Awesome song,one of my favorites
Another great lesson Shane! Thank you for taking time to explain and demonstrate the chug with the right hand. Your explanation is very helpful. I need to get my stubby slide on order! Also, Foghat....one of the best names for a band ever!
No! Your voice is fine! Thank you.
Another really cool lesson. Many thanks.
Cheers, Shane K.
Bob Trowe, that's cool. My wife can pick up a new instrument and knock out a song in a short time. I, on the other hand, can run a sound board but can't play a note. Thanks for breaking it down, maybe there is hope for me.
Another awesome lesson. You have definitely made the journey of learning to play enjoyable. Keep them coming. I count on them to keep me on track.
You're the best Shane!! Thanks for this fun lesson! I love this song!
Fun song to jam and a great lesson, I can see some ZZ Top coming in the future.

You are an excellent teacher and these videos are making quite a difference to myself and many others. Looking forward to future installments.

Very cool lesson. Palm muting comes a bit easier for me. Also very cool that Bob Trowe was your neighbor.
This was a great video to find on the channel after getting off work today. Thank you.
I have to find out the deal with Speak, so you earned my subscription
Great! As usual! Thanks!
Oh god I bit my tongue laughing at your attempt to hit the upper register. Great right hand exercise here!
Great lesson again, looking forward to the solo part 🎸🎼
Hey Shane!!! Foghat sounds Great on the Cigar Box Guitar...Slowride is an Awesome song!! Your childhood Neighbor was Bob Trowe - Bob Dog on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood! Liked and Subscribed!!! Super FUN song to play! Thanks Shane...
I appreciate the alternative tuning. I am a Noob so each step is a learning experience. Thanks Shane. Blues University is sure a lot more fun than my "other" university was. It is great that you lived near Bob Trowe in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.
Love the intro! Smiles for miles. Cool lesson too :)
I love slow ride good job
Great lesson! 🙂
Thanks, Shane.
Hey Shane, love these simple blues instructionals!
Your childhood neighbour was a certain Bob Trowe, who played "Bob Dog" on Mr.Roger's Neighbourhood.
Another barnstormer Shane, gotta detune my box and give this a try. So you're trivia answer is Bob Trowe and as a tidbit of personal trivia I took slight exception at you asking why I hadn't bought your book, I do own it and the one alongside it too! I have everything ready to build a Shane Spiel stompbox, just need to get at it lol
Oh yeah, Foghat baby! 🤘🏻
Thanks for the lesson! Bob Trowe.
🎶Shane Speal 🎶 🎶🎶 Take it Easy 🎶 🎶🎶 You Know the Rythem is Right 🎶 🎶🎶👍Great lesson of a great song 👍
Loving the fact that you are doing it slow, (seems an appropriate song for that technique). I tend to lean towards slow blues and with time I may actually be confidant enough to sit in on some jams. Meanwhile I'm learning enough that I can amuse myself. Keep it up you have a good thing going here. Particularly for us old farts.
Hi Professor, This is a fun song to make up your own lyrics to. Good lesson.
Greetings from the Emerald City.
You are the Bob Ross of CBG's!
You lived next door to Bob Trowe.
Another great lesson Shane. For me the picking hand is what I find most problematic, but you are really getting me there. Thanks for that. Oh and the name you are looking for for the competition is Bob Trowe.
Nice!
Great series Shane, keep it up, please! This might be a topic for a ways down the line, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on Blues call and response.
yr too good a teacher,I will be up all night ,ha,thanx
Awesome
@shanespeal Another way for students to follow your videos is by speeding/slowing the playback speed. This can be found within the options menu (the three dots).
@shanespeal I cannot wait to get started with my first CBG, but my post-op dupuytrens hand has to heal first (4 weeks and counting).
Meanwhile, thank you sir for the very useful insights, tips and CBG passion.
Fortunately for you, I live far, far away, like the Wizard of Oz. Otherwise, your 'favourite' neighbour would be banging your door, daily😉.
Off to browse and shop at a certain CBG shop.
Clean the rasp, that's Kool, teach it man, yeah,
LOL that was the best start for a awsome day :D
Another great lesson Shane. I love being able to just jam, but there is something so satisfying about learning a recognizable song. You lived next to bob dog (Bob Trowe) as a kid. Speaking of dogs, are there any skydog (Duane Allman) licks that would translate to cbg? That'd be fun. Either way, looking forward to whatever the next vid is. Keep em coming!
Your childhood neighbor was Bob Trowe, who played "Bob Dog" on Mr.Roger's Neighborhood.
Thx 👍😊👍
👍 Thank you
Awesome Shane... Nice rhythm lesson.
Another, possibly more advanced because of the chord changes, but really good song in this same vein would be "Rocky Mountain Way".
You probably already know this better than me, but you can even keep the cbg tuned to open G starting on the 10th fret for the opening riff before going to the traditional blues riff.
