Dave, I purchased that blade aluminum Strider(in this vid) from U several yrs ago. I gave it to a real special forces (Green Beret) just before he went to Afganistan. He came home safely. The knife was beat up, and I sent it in for refurbishing. He worked that knife hard. I thank U for the opportunity to pass this on to a real hero...Miss U'r vids man, I have seen every vid U have made, so make more...
hello sir I've been making more videos! It jsut takes time because I want to make better quality so it requires lots of editing and scripting plus I'm so behind on knife orders
Another fantastic vid, you make me as a Strider owner proud, I hope other ownes and Strider feel the same way! Thanks for doing all you do, I cannot wait for what vids are coming up next!
Its funny how the lock wearing out and becoming "wiggly" is expected. Strong lock up is #1 in a folder. It is the only function a folding knife has and they cant get that right. You think for the price it would atleast lock up strong. Nice vid but I hate strider.
I've got a Strider fixed blade and have had it for 15 years and beaten the daylights out of it and it serves me well almost every day. I'm sure it takes loads of skill to make folders as compared to churning out fixed blades and these folders look very cool but there are so many YT videos about Strider folders having problems with their locking or just general slop in the mechanism. I mean what's the story?
I enjoyed this. Comments will be interesting no doubt. It's a gutsy move to show a knife with an obvious audible flaw and stand behind it saying it's all good, it was designed to operate well like that. I can understand why folks would be pretty upset to have that knife perform in any other way than perfectly.
yes it's in my little black vault now of videos that I only let certain subs see because there's a lot of shady knife industry drama. I record everything. It always generates a lot of hate so I keep it set to private for people I know that are my subs can watch. There's quite a few videos showing some crazy conversations
@MyopicChihuahua We know your channel! Thanks for subbing. What I'm really starting to enjoy is having a channel that people can disagree & discuss in the comments section about it. So we hope we never sound like the end all & that our vids do serve the youtube community well!
@yoohoosk8r Not sure but when I order this next time I will ask them about it & if you want PM me this question & I'll try to remember to get back at you on this. Feel free to remind me as sometimes I lose track
First, I served in the Military myself, (Army,11b). After serving I worked at Buck Knives in SD (Rockwell, heat treating), where I got a chance to meet Mick Strider and the legend Paul Bos. These guys are craftsmen and perfectionists on what they do. Strider makes awesome knives, but like anything else if you take pride in what you do your going to do well; usually. Long story short, not because things are milspec or approved/sponsored by the military means that something is awesome and above standards in quality. Actually, what I've noticed about the military is kinda of the opposite, some of the equipment is unsat. We often had friends and family members have to send us equipment that was decent (using our own $).Specops this and operators that... bunch of hype. It's all about making $, civilian or military contracts. Bottom line is, Strider makes good knives, their over priced and too much hype; that's why their so expensive. I think there are other knife makers out there as good or far better for a better price.
Great insight into the Strider company and it's products. I own 1 of each production size. I can't say I've been extremely impressed with the PT or SnG but I am highly impressed by the SmF. But I will agree these are tough knives!
these knives are sick but if you think a U.S. Mil contract means good things you're sadly mistaken.. why havent we updated the m92fs? money. Why do they use these in Socom? probably cause someone else wanted more money for the specs they were looking for.. also who in their right mind do you think would pick a metal handle in combat? lmfao the way you talk proves you fall into the hype. Striders seem awesome but the price point is hype in its greatest form. You even contradict yourself in this video on cobtative use of this knive as far as it being a combat knife so why would you think socom are using these? those guys can bring a 20 dollar knife or a 2000 custom if they want its up to them lol
@d3pHc0n I didn't mention CCs but on my customs they touch the lockbar & on my sng unless it moves in to far cuz the lock is late the LBS is making contact & I've tried gripping it to see. I've even noticed on ones that are flipped when I flip over the LBS the detent on the blade along with lockup get's stiffer cuz of the pressure from the stabilizer. You could be right on some of them I'll look into it & perhaps annotate thanks!
@james460xvryee GBs are talked about as the better choice over ARs because there's a Tanto blade that if you're into the outdoors can be sharpened to 2 different angles for some edc versatility. The knife is like a folding axe. The handle doesn't do much it's really like a subcom with a big butt (one deep choil for your index finger). SMF is more a well rounder for outdoor& urban areas. Has more grip options & now comes in Aluminum & s35vn which makes it tough (+ btr lockup) No new GB version
@socomelite1 Yah lol know what's kinda shitty though is if we bend the lock further in to compensate then the Hinderer stablilzer doesn't do it's job anymore bcuz it's not making enough contact with the lockbar
@nosaj03 absolutely but I'm still looking for more refined designs from them. Really happy with the Terzuola strider but Im still searching for another brand to reach the same level of serious that strider's got. Exrema Ratio is ok but their stuff looks crazy
@Halfmoon67 No man I've had that screw come loose too lol It's just cuz that screw seems to take a lot of the force of the blade so it happens. This vid really came from your vid on the SNG which helped me get some more info together so thanks! Look at all your subs!
"Some complain that this screw was loose so just tighten it up" lol i think it was adressed to me! Yeah sure, no big deal, but i'd just expect that for 500$, strider would do it for me! Maybe i'm just too focused on the quality control and blade thickness :) Excellent and very informative video man, i put it in my favs!
@nosaj03 yah even after hittin the spine of my custom the lockbar didn't wear. I'm not saying there's not better out there perhaps especially with a better quality finish maybe but the knife works even when some would consider it faulty compare this to knives that are new that fail lol yah if check out Oromoto's vid on the SJ 75 their new stuff is really smooth & streamlined compared to before it's pretty darn nice I must say.
Hmm I think both will be fine. Aluminum is used on all these tactical lights and it's tough enough to take bullet shots. Titanium is expensive stuff and they even make knives out of them. Either one I'd say. I think getting Titanium in real life if you were to drop either on concrete it's gona get equally damaged. Both metals don't rust at least not Titanium ever. It's really just perhaps your preference because even both are light weight!
@Darkstar2520 oh the Xl is larger than the XM24 I think cuz the XM 24 is meant to be an SMF competitor That is the best I can say. The XM is crazy fat though *& heavy. Usually the XLs I see r customs so generally they're lighter cuz Hinderer still does the ti liner plus the framelock side was always thick to begin with
They still don't understand how to make a framelock. All they have to do is bend the lock bar over till it touches the other scale without the blade. Then with the blade in you would never have the up and down play
@NeptuneKnives i was wondering, ive seen Strider Sterlingear Zippos and i was wondering if those were fake or not because some are the brass zippos and some are the steel zippos and i have no clue if either or, are real. they are selling for 45 dollars. but i cant find them on Zippos website, or on striders website, or even on sterlingears website. on dealers have them posted for sale. i also cant seem to find a thread on them, any info is appretiated. tyvm
Sorry I don't get it, maybe it's too late in the day but at 19:43 the lock up shown is hardly what I would trust not slicing off my fingers with. You have to be kidding but seriously you are no doubt getting paid to say all of this LOL.
haha I don't want to make more enemies & I personally don't get the knife industry. I just obliged out of courtesy & the bible says to be merciful. A lot of makers ask me to take down vids but these vids usually show not a product fail but a side of the maker that's not good for reputation & I understand that means a lot to some men
@socomelite1 They kill me too cuz I'll order some & they'll all be different & then I'm like man how do I sell this cuz I feel bad but believe it or not those military guys really don't think anything of it cuz they're looking to beat em up it surprised me that's why I did the vid
@BeyondHostile Yah i'm a knife nut. If it looks promising I gota get it & then if it kicks ass I wana sell it lol My friends police knives are freakin heavy it's ridiculous I don't know if they'd use lightweight Spydies cuz I he told me they use them specifically because of the weight which helps as an impact weapon
@tuffthumbz Hey Tuff! You know it's weird like I said in the vid I definitely get the impression we're the little people but actually there's a direct email that gets you a much better % chance of a response that's not listed lol. It's pointless calling them lol I don't even try now. Some questions get ignored cuz I guess I could go research etc but others they'll reply. A lot of people tell me best way is to go thru dealers
@fredde90210 Yah even though I can get a custom that's a little sloppy at the least the owners of the company make knives still ya know compare this to others that just produce. Plus if I could get a Nitinol SMF with the whole certificate of authenticity it'd be awesome cuz that's like an uber knife. The customs really are one of a kind no copies. Man I'd like to get one of the knives only for Gov issue that'd be cool too like the one for landmines lol why not lol
I cannot bring myself to buy a knife from the company of a man who lied about military service to gain fame and success. I understand redemption and I don't wish the man ill, and I won't say anything against others who like his products, but there are too many other good to excellent knives out there for similar prices and even significantly less money.
Rodger Pitts I really don't like it when people do that. I also don't like spending $400+ for a folding knife that doesn't look cool, is made out of pretty standard ATS34 stainless, and is overall less useful than my cheap multitool or my salt bath processed tool steel field knife.
get a gun!. a soldier would have a big fixed blade to do 99% of tasks. maybe when he eats his dinner he may get a flimsy folder to cut the pack open. Never would he use it to protect himself.
haha I don't want to make more enemies & I personally don't get the knife industry. I just obliged out of courtesy & the bible says to be merciful. @Rudemustang1 I know I gota get to that one people don't appreciate what it really is i feel soon enough thanks for the support & watching!
Its funny how the lock wearing out and becoming "wiggly" is expected. Strong lock up is #1 in a folder. It is the only function a folding knife has and they cant get that right. You think for the price it would atleast lock up strong. Nice vid but I hate strider.

@NeptuneKnives My PT is the regular "lego" version. I'm keeping the PT because it's part of my Strider set, I have one of each size:) Sorry!
yes it's in my little black vault now of videos that I only let certain subs see because there's a lot of shady knife industry drama. I record everything. +1 lol! He's mistaken on a lot of things :D

They have an obligation to retired military over regular consumers? O RLY? Honorable things like lying about being special forces?
Man just the video i was looking for this day !!
@renatojuri thanks for watching our vids R!

Great video. Very informative.
you are truly ahead of your time bro
@socomelite1 Yah lol know what's kinda shitty though is if we bend the lock further in to compensate then the Hinderer stablilzer doesn't do it's job anymore bcuz it's not making enough contact with the lockbar

Excellent and very informative video man, i put it in my favs!
@troy5690 yes sir they're not perfect but they got a ton of interesting features in them that I dig
No Strider is deigned to have rock lock new off the shelf.
@XDHardstylerXD Glad we made it! One of my better vids I'd have to say. Some vids I'm all over the place lol
hey, do you think the full Ti handle striders are a step above the aluminum handles? whats your thoughts
Both metals don't rust at least not Titanium ever. whats the size difference between the xm-24 and the strider smf XL thanks
i think you can stop the play if you flip the pin over
@Darkstar2520 oh the Xl is larger than the XM24 I think cuz the XM 24 is meant to be an SMF competitor That is the best I can say. The XM is crazy fat though *& heavy. Usually the XLs I see r customs so generally they're lighter cuz Hinderer still does the ti liner plus the framelock side was always thick to begin with

I have ordered one from aliexpress (mick f30 ) I`m not keen on the handle shape so clone to start with, sorry.
I'm looking to buy my first strider. I don't mind weight or size, what do you recommend.? I was thinking about the GB or the SMF
@NeptuneKnives i was wondering, ive seen Strider Sterlingear Zippos and i was wondering if those were fake or not because some are the brass zippos and some are the steel zippos and i have no clue if either or, are real. they are selling for 45 dollars. but i cant find them on Zippos website, or on striders website, or even on sterlingears website. on dealers have them posted for sale. i also cant seem to find a thread on them, any info is appretiated. tyvm

Dude! You just spinewhacked a 500 dollar knife!
i just cant get past the tarrible customer service and the blade play and lock failures that i have experienced
@oromoto Hey Bro! How's life thanks for staying tuned to our vids!
spine whacks are like testing a toilet by smashing the seat up and down. thats not how i poop.
I love the abuse you dish out on your knives. The Paramilitary test sold me on one.
the strider vid that u mention in your comments is no longer available
haha I don't want to make more enemies & I personally don't get the knife industry. I just obliged out of courtesy & the bible says to be merciful. best website to buy a sng?

@NeptuneKnives Me too:)
Can't locate the video about epic fail. Wtf ? They take it off ? Sad cause I'm sure it was beneficial.
@darkchild57 Hey DC is your pt a cc? Mel wants one! If it is mind selling it to us?
So strider or reeves
WORN IN??? MORE LIKE WORN OUT
I like striders too, but all due respect,if you really believe everything you said, you are sorely mistaken or are incredibly gullible.
get a gun!. a soldier would have a big fixed blade to do 99% of tasks.
maybe when he eats his dinner he may get a flimsy folder to cut the pack open. Never would he use it to protect himself.
Don't speak for every one.
sorry but whos mel??
bluelinegear
sub'd
Pretty much everything this kid said was completely wrong, lol. I guess that is why there is more dislikes than likes.
LOL! Comment of the month.
