I would love to meet you at a meet up! I'm about a 2.5 hr drive from Dallas. I think a light bright decor would lift your spirits. Being a Christian woman I try to stay in the light. Darkness is not good for the soul. I'm drawn to the steam punk look with cream color cabinets and furniture. Would love to do a van build out in that style. Congrats to Marcus and happy you were there "lurking" in the bushes 😆 And you're right, who can turn away homemade cinnamon rolls! Being in TX, you will enjoy nice weather to get out and take walks. The small sizes of cups and bowls, etc. is actually much more a European thing than American. American sizes are OVER -sized. ;) But I'm like you...I like LARGE bowls. I've found that second hand stores can be a good place to get dishes. Those soups usually contain lots of MSG...but, yeah, they are yummy. I love egg noodles cooked in cream of mushroom soup with either ground beef or chicken. Easy and delicious! Looking forward to seeing your cabinet/van renovation...
I know you’ve probably solved your problem, but what about Estate sales or secondhand stores? You can get some really nice older large dishes at either one of those places at least in California.
Don't sleep on the dishes at the Dollar Tree the are awesome and looks like you'd paid lots of money. Hope you had a great time at your dinner and the rolls were as yummy as they sound. Blessings! Sherry

Personally I think light grey cabinets with white countertop would be awesome. A very light grey is also neutral.
