  • Ever since we returned from our Bali trip, my daughter has been asking for Indonesian Chicken Satay. So, I am going to make this for her school lunch box today. Indonesian Chicken Satay is a lot easier to make than the Malay ones we commonly find here.

    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 tsp black pepper
    • Some oil for grilling
    • Some bamboo skewers
    • 1 cucumber
    • Some white sesame seeds
    Sauce Ingredients:
    • 100 ml sweet soy sauce (Kecap Manis)

in the marinate add rasped onion, a little bit of lemon when you use ketjap manis a tsp. of dark brown sugar and fresh ginger, or ginger powder. This will make it more indonesian.

@@BusyDaddyCooks We lived in Suriname. The People from Java( not Bali) brought their chicken sate to Suriname, and they taught me how to make the marinate. I use the ginger more in the dipping sauce. Which is Ketjap Manis, Sambal Oelek, ginger, lemon, a little bit of water and garlic( fresh ) and a pinch of gulah Djawa ( which is similar to very dark brown sugar) . Garlic is a must!

    Hi

You do not need to soak the sticks in water if you are frying them. But you have to soak them if you are grilling the satay. 😀
