- Thought It would be interesting if I start doing little comparison videos to show the potential differences between the sub and dub of Speed Racer/Mach GoGoGo (Especially considering this was a time where anime dubs weren't exactly guaranteed to be faithful)

On the surface, the art seems kinda simple and lacking a bit of volume, but I love the pre-80s manga art style, it's quite charming to me uhauahauah

I like how the dub is so simple, yet, they don’t sound like a cringe weeaboo in modern anime dubs (no offence)
It'd actually be interesting to see this redubbed the modern way.
As an old schooler, I prefer Mach Gogogo subtitled. . .it's the real deal, much more authentic and heartfelt. 😁🏎😺🏎🐒🏎

Honestly, I think the dub is perfect! Say what you will about it, but I feel these voices fit so well and iconic that it shouldn’t be redubbed
I feel the same, and the dub cast despite being small accomplished a lot and had a lot of fun doing it. I think that the show is made better because I can look back on it and see all of the goofy names and crazy long sentences and enjoy it because I know the people behind the dubbing of the show intended that and that they had fun making it
They definitely don't fit and that's why it's iconic. If they somehow did a remake of speed racer and the new dub didn't dub in this style, it would be received poorly.
I think that the names should be reverted to their original Japanese counterparts but that's it

Why did they cut out the mention of Jim Clarke in the English dialogue? Did they assume American kids would be too stupid to know who he was?
Maybe copyright?
I originally thought it had to with him dying around the time the dub came out, but turns out the English dub aired months before his death.
I wish this series with the original Japanese audio was streaming.

Speed Racer spoken in Japanese always sounds so ANGRY to me, but the conversation meaning is actually mild. LOL!!! 🤭😆

What's with the dub changing the pitch?
Its a result of American commercial times changing, when the show was rebroadcast in the 90's the show needed to be sped up to make room for more commercial (plus iirc the audio format they used also played a part)
