My guess is the family tells everyone that because of how erratic her behavior was and that she would run away from home. He don't even know what he's saying nor does he make sense. This is why so many people never speak out; the fear of not being believed. The signs are there, just overlooked. I finally told my mom just a few weeks ago what happened to me when I was a child, not in detail because I’m not ready to go there. My relatives were toxic too. They played a huge roll in why I didn’t speak up. I’m almost 30 with a family of my own and it still haunts me. I’m sooo overprotective of my babies. I just never want them to experience that type of pain. I pray she is able to heal and find comfort. ❤️

Calling a six-year-old child “promiscuous” is grounds enough for any type of child protective service organization to get involved immediately, in my opinion. By law, a minor cannot give consent for sexual activity, therefore by extension, it is not possible for a minor to be exhibiting behaviour that suggests the potential for sexual engagement without some aspect of the situation breaking the law.

Some are not even sorry, and attempt to make themselves look like they are the good guys but ended up making themselves the bad guys. They think don’t deserve to face the consequences, but they do.

Not to excuse his lack of action but I assume the mother’s side of the family was the one actively taking care of her, presumably they had more means to do so than the father did. This would give him a lot less leverage to intervene, especially when the entire maternal side of the family is circling the wagons around the cousin. I could imagine that perhaps he was incarcerated when she was put in foster care. I’m not sure it’s “big talking” just clearly his unconditional support meant a lot to her. It’s easy to criticize someone in hindsight for how they acted in a situation you have no real knowledge of but it seems pretty obvious to me that this is an environment where everyone is struggling hard. Again I’m not going to excuse his lack of action, in a perfect world he would have been able to trust the authorities enough to contact them regardless of his own circumstances.
