I love it since much years… I think it’s so soulful… but at the same time it’s sounds like a school Band - and at the End like Metallica … the perfect is in the imperfect!!! The sound of my life …:
People, you know what a Tribute is? The love the Son, they honor Dire Straits ... what bout all you Haters? Go somewhere else, when you wanna hate, this is just .... LOVE !!!
There Is a great message in this cover, it is respect, respect for life and people, please dont be fools comparing what version is better, stop being fools to make war.
Those mist covered mountains Are a home now for me But my home is the lowlands And always will be Some day you'll return to Your valleys and your farms And you'll no longer burn To be brothers in arms Through these fields of destruction Baptism of fire I've whittnessed your suffering As the battles raged higher And though they did hurt me so bad In the fear and alarm You did not desert me My brothers in arms There's so many different worlds So many different suns And we have just one world But we live in different ones Now the sun's gone to hell And the moon's riding high Let me bid you farewell Every man has to die But it's written in the starlight And every line on your palm We're fools to make war On our brothers in arm
beautiful rendition of this song, i like it much and Metallica was one of my fav rock band since i was young, but my tears came out as i listen with Dire Straits, one of the best song ever written.
One of my favorite Bridge concert memories, I was in the 3rd row, thx for capturing! There's good Bridge 2016 Metallica material on my site, but never captured this...Timeless song!
@@arcanewyrm6295 not really, you just said James should sit his guitar down. Are you saying james is a bad guitar player? or what? Did he ruin the cover?
@@MrResns In my opinion, Kirk could have made ther guitar part sound far better than the way James played it. I'd James bad at guitar? Absolutely not. But he's a rhythm guitarist. I think this song deserves the touch of someone who can make a guitar cry - and a lead guitarist, usually, is better at that than a rhythm guitarist. The original version was written and played by a lead guitarist, so it would only do it *_more_* justice to have a lead cover it. And I do, SOMEWHAT, think that James ruined it a little bit, but it was his vocals - not the guitar - that makes me say that. The song is meant as a memorial - soft, loving, longing - but James added aggression in his vocals, kind of crossing over into anger. I feel like it took way from the song's intended message.
I'm a Dire straits fan and Metallica fan, give them credit they gave it a shot. No cover is ever as good as original but who would have thought they would even try. Lighten up its not that bad. Maybe it exposes more people to the genius of M K!
+Greg Smith I disagree with the statement "No cover is ever as good as the original". Johnny Cash - Hurt. Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah. All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix. Nirvana - The Man Who Sold the World (or Love Buzz or Where Did You Sleep Last Night for that matter). But I will say that a lot of people prefer Red Hot Chili Pepper's version of Higher Ground and I think they're mental and Stevie's version is far superior. :-)
I disagree with you regarding Nirvana's cover of Bowie's classic, the original was so much better.. Also i think Nothing Compares to You by Sinead O'Connor was the better version.
Hi from Brazil 🇧🇷.
Everyone of us is a product of a collection of different things that we experienced in our lives. Brothers in Arms by Mark Knopfler is a very important part of my identity. But even IF I was technically able to do so, I would never perform it the way he does, because all the other things that define me as a person are different from Mark Knopfler. This is exactly why I like this version by Metallica. It shows that they respect this song so much that they thought about it and show us what it means to THEM. I cannot stand imitations that try to be as close as possible to the original, because they deny the personality of the performers.
I love Metallica, I love Dire Straits & “Brothers In Arms” is an epic track. While I appreciate the choice & effort it just doesn’t work all that well unfortunately. The fact that they choose this band/song is pretty amazing though. 🤷🏼♂️
I thought it was pretty good. You have to give them credit for stepping outside their milieu and trying to do something different. It's a great song, and they obviously wanted to do something that would be apart from their norm. Frankly it would be a great candidate for a metal remake. Very epic in melody and lyrically. Although I will say that Kirk's playing sucks. It's like he's never played an acoustic before.
i'll never understand the hate some of you guys show to this cover. On the whole, I kinda dislike Metallica, i've never been touched by their music (except a few killer songs, like Orion, Call of Ctuhulu, Master of Puppets and Nothing Else matters, but that's all) but that cover sounds really amazing to me; Kirks guitar, James' voice, everything's beautiful in it, so can someone explain me all this hate?
Don't care who likes this version of the song and who hates it and why.. But, who is playing the coconuts?!? And working them really well. That's all I care about..
It's not for me. It just doesn't have the same passion & feeling it gives the listener (me, I'm not speaking for anyone else) as the original. Kudos, however, for doing it.
There is NO WAY ON EARTH of comparing this to the original. I spent the '90s listening to Metallica. I still do on occasion, but comparing this to the original (and saying it's even better?!) is like comparing staying in a cardboard box to staying at the Ritz. Of course you can lay down to sleep either way...
Nice try shows they have taste but Dire Straits versions or Mark Knoffler in Israel are epic. But good to see Metallicia doing other stuff. Love their early stuff Justice for All, Master of Puppets.
And Mark live can’t sing really… he is a guitarist- a God on strings … but in the last years he becomes much better singing ..: BUT ??? So stop to hate this Version … it’s brilliant… the dynamic is so deep in the mind !! If you don’t hear - buy a new sound attachment🤣 I prefer the Neumann KH 310 or higher … 😊
I have to apologise for what I'm about to type but I feel I have to. This is an absolute disgrace. Dire Straits (MK) Brothers In Arms should never be copied, sampled or anything. Dire Straits (MK) Brothers In Arms is an epic song, a true stroke of genius
Kudos to Metallica for covering one of the Greatest songs of all time by one of the Greatest songwriters of all time!!
My favorite band playing my favorite band!!
I don’t give a shit if people don’t like it.. I think it’s awesome, tribute to how good dire straits are.. songs like this will never die..
I love it since much years… I think it’s so soulful… but at the same time it’s sounds like a school Band - and at the End like Metallica … the perfect is in the imperfect!!! The sound of my life …:
…: and : you mean : you give a shit about if people don’t like it …
People, you know what a Tribute is? The love the Son, they honor Dire Straits ... what bout all you Haters? Go somewhere else, when you wanna hate, this is just .... LOVE !!!
Daisy Cutter they ruined the spirit of the song its true i m sorry...now your free to find it cool but musically speaking it horrible
There Is a great message in this cover, it is respect, respect for life and people, please dont be fools comparing what version is better, stop being fools to make war.
Those mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day you'll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms
Through these fields of destruction
Baptism of fire
I've whittnessed your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms
There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones
Now the sun's gone to hell
And the moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
We're fools to make war
On our brothers in arm
Two of my favourite bands 🤩
beautiful rendition of this song, i like it much and Metallica was one of my fav rock band since i was young, but my tears came out as i listen with Dire Straits, one of the best song ever written.
Thanks a lot...
ONE OF THE BEST SONG EVER WRITTEN AND ONE AND ONLY THE BEST COVER OF THIS MASTER PIECE.
I'm sorry I have to disagree, this classic track should NEVER be copied, sampled, covered, nothing
Thanks for uploading. Love this song by Metallica.
That’s not by Metallica, its only a cover for Brothers in Arms - Dire Strais
One of my favorite Bridge concert memories, I was in the 3rd row, thx for capturing!
There's good Bridge 2016 Metallica material on my site, but never captured this...Timeless song!
who da f... would think about this?!?!?! 2 great bands with whom i had loads of fun while growing up...thank u very f...much...
wtf, why so many of you dislike this cover? i love it!
Because maybe Kirk should've been the one playing the guitar for it? James should've just set down the guitar for this one and just sang the vocals.
@arcanewyrm6295 That's just ludicrous. Elaborate, please.
@@MrResns I'm quite certain that my comment was as elaborate as is necessary.

An awesome cover of my favorite song. I'm not even really a Metallica fan per se but this was a beautiful tribute and performance! I love it

I disagree with you regarding Nirvana's cover of Bowie's classic, the original was so much better.. Also i think Nothing Compares to You by Sinead O'Connor was the better version.
Haters of metallica crying
A cover isn’t meant to be the exact same - this is a fucking great version and MK would love it for what it is.
I like it !!!!!!
Beautiful performing

first two minutes ...omg !!! i love it
This is really good, but you need to listen On the Night version. Absolute masterpiece.
I thought it was pretty good. You have to give them credit for stepping outside their milieu and trying to do something different. I love this song , by dire straits ! I don't understand, which of them (songs), must be really and better, so, just listen...

Yeah... this is great...!
LINDA MÚSICA!!!!

But, who is playing the coconuts?!?

10!

I like it.
Great!
Thank u!
For this video
Is it just guitars? So the 'weird' sounds I hear are guitars effects? (I think it's a great cover, kudos!)
is there a way to get this on cd?
As Manowar''s Joey DeMaio once said Metallica are country & western
Is that what he really said🎤
Because come to think of it they do sound country and western 🐎🐎🐂🐃
James certainly does have country feel in many of his more melodic songs... always thought that
Fiiijjee

well you see why its hard to play anything by Dire straits
:3 Stupidly in love with this cover...

Genuine is 1 word to use.
I prefer the original version; Metallica did it in their style and it is pretty good too;

Hála istennek hogy hozzá nyultatok srácok!!
Gänsehaut
omg kirk really love with this acoustic solo
Noite. :)
Did you ever hear original Brothers in Arms? Metallica tried to make this song more metal, but it can't be compared to the original version.
COOL! It's a pity - no professional video...
Lacking soft electric guitar from the intro..
Its a very moving song and they did it Proud and with RESPECT
OUTFUCKINGSTANDING !
Didn't want to like it...but it's a great version. Fairplay Metallica...
.....
James has beautiful voice

NO GO
A creditable try!
