With tris to quads, you can also open up the little black menu that appears with operators and change both angle limits to 180. That way it'll remove often a bunch more tris that it would otherwise skip.
Another addition when you're lost in the node abyss, just press the [ HOME ] key and it'll show the overview of all the nodes. Works great if you're zoomed in on a large network of nodes and wanted to see everything without scrolling a lot of times.

Heyyy. Thanks man. Means a lot. Seriously, first time? Wth UA-cam? I thought i was just not making good things and hence PPL didn't watch my stuff. I appreciate you saying that, gives me some confidence boost for sure
@@stache_obj Anytime! I often fall asleep (literally) watching Blender tutorials or cringe at people that are just way too meme heavy, but this is the perfect blend of humor and information. I'll be working my way through all your videos when I find the time! Keep up the amazing work!
Hi! In regards to moving the 3d cursor. What I usually do is go into edit mode, select one or more verts, edges or faces, and then click shift+s and use cursor to selected. Then the cursor will move to the select vert, edge or face or in the middle of those that you have selected. Much quicker and more precise :)
Stache youre a hero. Ive watched hundreds of blender tutorials, none of them come close to your attention to detail, healthy pacing, self awareness, and humor! You are appreciated. Glad I found this. Subscribed.
Awesome! Your delivery is hilarious. I laughed and laughed...and learned a bunch. How have I never known that you can have UV slots the same way you have material slots?!?!?
3:44 I laughed but the coughing killed me XD many blender channels try to be fun but they're annoying, however you deliver useful info but do it in an actual fun and easy way, I love it. I'm subscribing of course!
After you said shortcut enough times it starts to sound like "chakra" and so i felt like i was watching a very spiritual video about discovering various blender chakras
at 6:20, there is a way faster method to move the 3D cursor exactly where you want: mesh>snap>cursor to selected. so in this tree example, you could tab into edit mode, select that edge loop at the base of the trunk, and then just start typing "cursor to selected" in the context menu until that option comes up. whatever you have selected (faces, edges, vertices), it will automatically go to the exact middle of it.
If you have median point as transform pivot, you can select the bottom face or vertices of an object for example and setting the cursor to selection will place it perfectly in the midde. Useful if you wanna set the origin quickly and in the right place.
A few more tips to change your life as well, stache: 1- Forward Slash (/): Hide all BUT selected and focus camera on selected. This is a toggle, meaning hit it again to bring everything else back exactly as it was. It's also viewport independent, so you can do this to one viewport without affecting the others. This is incredibly useful when modelling or sculpting with many pieces, but is also useful when tweaking animation in a crowded scene. 2- Numpad Period. Center viewport around object. Try it. Also works in the shader editor, so when you lost your nodes: A then Numpad Period to center the editor around all nodes. 3- Regarding the 3D cursor: Select multiple points then set cursor to selected, and the cursor will go in the center of all selected points. I use this to precisely rig finger bones a lot. In otherwords, loop select that tree and the origin can be centered that easily.
What a funny and informative video! Very welcoming to those who are getting into blender :) appreciate the vid man, looking forward to watching more of your videos
There is an addon called "extra pie menus" built into blender which I really like, because it has an option to manipulate the origin of objects, and you can toggle which extra menus you want, so if you dont like something you can just turn it off.

okay, shift + g with the combination of ctrl + f, ctrl + e is literally blowing my mind right now. I just tried using it on a new blender project, and already, this is speeding up my workflow like 10x. WHAT. I've been MISSING out
for finding nodes in the shader editor you can press "A" for selecting all the nodes and if you press '.' key, view will get focused on the node grps similar to the thing in object mode
Really. That's crazy. When i was making this video, i thought wow most PPL would already know this, but heck who cares, let's make it anyway. Glad it could actually help.
Yeah they're pretty foundational tips tbh. And if you're even a little experienced in blender you might already know a few. Glad you find atleast some useful
shift + s u can do a lot of manipulation with 3d cursor. For example, you can move the 3D cursor to the vertex and move the origin there. p/s sorry for my english
hehe loved the animation. you vid yourself then map that to the cube and mask the eyes and mouth or how? It seems the mouth is looking 3D when the head turns so is that only because you actually turned your head in the video and later map the head turns to the cube? if so, how do you mask all that properly w/o spending a week masking each frame? Just curious! Thanks for the tips. I'm sure maybe I can remember ONE of them. I'm still not used to alt-pen to orbit. heheh
@@stache_obj Ok. I'm not up on social media stuff like that but I saw someone add some stuff to their face using that I think but I just thought you made it yourself somehow. thx
you can hit shift+S and select cusor to world origin and then select an object and then you can add set origin to geometry in you Q to quickly access it. it has saved me so much time.
Your tips and presentation rock, stache. Your channel is a new favorite of mine. A little request...tone down the buzzer. Every time it goes off, I spill my coffee all over myself and forgot what you just taught me. ; )

Bro no homo but I love you right now. I started using blender for the first time last year, I've never read or watched a single tutorial, if I can't figure something out or need to know something specific I'll google it. And I was really proud of how far I've come in this short time. But I swear this video made me realize just how much fucking easier my life could have been... To put it into perspective, I've been doing everything in blender the same way old people drive on the highway, the slowest fucking way possible. I swear I need to write some of this shit down, how the fuck am I supposed to remember all this
Master Dank, i first of all salute you for surviving without tutorials. That's commendable. As for how to remember so much information, I'd say start with just a few good tips you really liked. It's humanly impossible to remember them all. Eventually as you watch more tutorials, you'll learn more things, and remember them as you go. So nothing to worry about. Thank you for such a kind comment. I love you too now. Full homo
I paused to go try some of this stuff and discovered something new. I don't know if you've covered it yet, but it's AMAZING. Take two pieces of joined geometry that have intersecting lines but don't share vertices at said intersections. In Edit Mode use Vertex Select, and select the nearest vertex on either intersecting edge. Press the G Key, don't move the mouse, then Left Click. A new vertex will appear at the intersection. Use the auto merge feature in options before hand, or merge by distance afterward.
@@stache_obj Yeah, it just saved me 45 minutes to an hour. I found it demonstrated in the video: Create a Vertex at Edge Intersections in Blender, by MyPhysical World. Question. . . Do you know if there's a way to do the opposite of an Inset with edges?
Just press extrude with E, but then immediately click left click without moving the extrusion at all. Then scale that shit out using S. That will outset it I guess. Is that what you meant or did i misunderstand?
@@stache_obj I think so. I was trying to do it on six edges of three cylinders booled through a wall. Since everything had the origin of the wall, only the center one worked when I scaled, with the two outer ones scaling oblong based on the far-removed origin. I ended up selecting the six circle edges, CTRL C/CTRL V the objects into a duplicate project (which I learned from you, so thanks), separating them, fixing their origins, scaling, joining to the booled wall object, selecting the now 12 circles two at a time (inner and outer), bridging edge loops, created faces, used this new method to attach the new outer circles to the support edges between the wall and original bools with new verts, then finally selecting the faces between the big and small circles and extruding on normals just a smidge. It took four hours to figure out how to get it to work. LOL. I'm only six-ish months in, so I fall down rabbit holes easily. I'll soon learn I did it the hardest way possible. . . like always. Anyways, cheers bud, happy to subscribe to your awesome channel.
I totally understand dude. I did it all the time too. Like take the longest possible route with the shortcuts and tools i had learned till that time and later learn that it was just a shortcut. I wish I could help understand your situation better and give you a good shortcut, but I'll be honest, it's hard to understand text explanation of a blender 3d problem. But from what i read, do you know there's thing called scale from 'median point' and then scale from 'individual origins'. I forget the shortcut for it, but if you don't know what I'm talking about, Google 'scale individual origins' and you might learn something new right there. If you already knew it, please ignore this petty tip. Anyway, thanks for having this thorough interaction right here in the comments. Thanks for your kind words. I hope to see you more here in future'videos. Cheers 🥂

Full homo
really helpful !!
This is the first video I've watched
And it's so funny 😂
I'll take funny any day over helpful so i appreciate you!
Oh damn. That sounds really useful. Let me go ans try that. Thanks man. Appreciate it

Yeah, it just saved me 45 minutes to an hour.

I think so.
Cheers 🥂
Great video 👍
also super younique avataryouve made there 😆
