My ONLY gripe about The Orville is that there is a whole lot of button pushing going on even when in a non battle situation. You would think that some sort of AI would be utilized.
in a previous episode in the first season I think, it showed the helmsman playing ancient computer games like pacman, tetris, and breakout on his console during very low-key moments, and the autopilot was engaged, but he was button pressing to look busy. This show needs to have many more seasons. I can't stomach what had been done with "real" Trek over the past 14 years (and I wasn't too wild about Voyager and Enterprise but at least they were trying) but The Orville picks up where TNG left off, albeit with more humor, but it's well balanced enough to not hurt it. You don't get agendas forced down your throat, Seth understands that entertainment comes first. Paramount could have redeemed themselves with Strange New Worlds but fumbled big time, and we all know how they did that so why bother saying why. The Orville IS Trek. It's what the "real" Trek should be. So it would be a shame if it ends with season 3.

Every clip has comments filled with people calling this better than current Trek. Being better than current Trek is easy as it has 100% lost it's way. @@1987MartinT there is no friendly fire with this weapon, in its first encounter and use of the weapon at the beginning of this episode, the Orville was literally surrounded and shielded by other Union ships when they used the weapons, none of them were destroyed in the process while all the Kaylon ships were wiped out.
Reminds me of when Voyager got the deployable ablative armor.
It is hilarious how this is still a better star trek even than the actual star trek shows that are out now. This includes discovery and picard
The new season of picard is better than. This
Damn I miss this show.
My ONLY gripe about The Orville is that there is a whole lot of button pushing going on even when in a non battle situation. You would think that some sort of AI would be utilized.
Sure, an AI hooked into the networked control systems throughout the ship. It's not like a hostile machine intelligence could hack into it 🤔😉
in a previous episode in the first season I think, it showed the helmsman playing ancient computer games like pacman, tetris, and breakout on his console during very low-key moments, and the autopilot was engaged, but he was button pressing to look busy. I think they have even used the main screen on the bridge to watch ancient tv shows and movies when everyone was relaxed.
It was about time that the Kaylons got a taste of their own medicine!
They put a hell of a lot of faith in that weapon continuing to function properly and the ship surviving long enough to make that work.
Orville's weapon was so strong that it gave Kaylon an unexplained feeling of chills in their spine, considering that Kaylon doesnt have both
1:16 would be nice against the Borg would need a lot of those to simultaneously ignite all across space or at the center hive or as a subspace distortion to spearate the Hive
The design of the ship reminds me of that one from the show where the only scene i remember is when the protagonists deliberately plunged the ship into the blackhole and later on got retrieved by a passing ship
That would be Andromeda
As the ship is docking, the music reminds me of Independence Day when the motherships were clearing out of the clouds
I think Seth MacFarlan still kept the Tactical Alert which was used in the Star Trek: Enterprise NX-O1 to which he'd starred into...
Nice action. Where's the rest of it?
And thank you
Kaylon: Genocide
Orville: OK. Wanna go at it?
Everyone remember where we parked!
That emp device is freaking deadly.
The Orville is the true successor to Star Trek.
So wouldn’t this anti Kaylon weapon have killed Isaac since he was onboard? Or does the weapon not work like that?
Apparently, the Kaylons are slow learners. Mercer should have destroyed the rest of their fleet.
How more willing to surrender would you be if the roles were reversed? It's better to show mercy and keep the killing to a minimum. Revenge si never a good thing. Unless you care less about compatriots getting killed, that shows extreme egoism.
@@paulmichaelfreedman8334 The Union just showed that they possessed a Deux Ex Machina capable of effortlessly destroying their ships. Perhaps thinking that it was a fluke, they sent a second wave, with identical results.
So now the writers embraced this show's version of BSG morality, completely forgetting what the Kaylons' stated mission is.
But, apparently the armistice with the Krill was short-lived, and the Union is looking to the Kaylons for help? Alrighty then...
That wasn't the point of the episode, knowing when to use restraint was the lesson and was the entire underlying theme. Now, they have a new ally against the Krill.
@@explorer47422 I don't have Hulu, so I'm a bit behind the curve here. The last time I checked, the Kaylons were doing their Cylon impersonation and attempting to eradicate all biologic life.
The Krill and Union formed an uneasy alliance.
So...what happened that now the Union needs an alliance with their sworn enemies?
@@spaceflight1019 Spoilers: Union found a way to eradicate all Kaylon as in the video but used it to force peace talks instead. Moclans were kicked out of the Union after abducting and torturing Topa. Moclans formed an alliance with the Krill shifting power of balance and stole the Kaylon killing device. Union teamed up with Kaylon to get it back and in the process the Kaylon saw the error of their ways.
🤔🤷🏻♂️🤓 Ever wondered how fast the Quantum Drive is compared to Star Trek's Warp Drive?
Well the Orville can Travel 10 light years per hour andd after the refit it can go 11.5...its Faster than any of the Enterprise on Star Trek But it's Slower that the Spore Drive
Aeronáutica, inteligência secreta, quinta etapa. Avião de guerra poderoso alien quinta etapa. Velocidade.
3:08 the music sounds like the Asgard Music theme of Stargate. The fifth race... 🤭
whats the song called?
@@JackalJBlack No idea, just search on YT, "Stargate SG-1 Asgard the fifth race song".
01:06 Nomad took steroids!!!
That weapon is cutting the Khylons to ribbons or is it rivets.
So this weapon is some kind of big-ass EMP generator, aye?
Not exactly But some Elements of EMP is present since if I remember correctly if the device is activated It will Target the Neural synchroniz Matrix of the Kaylon I don't remember if that wat it's called but it's something along the line. If one Kaylon was Hit by it every Kaylon that is connected to it will aso be destroyed
"This show, I like it....
Bring me ANOTHER!!!"
-Thor
probably...
Pure sci-fi awesomeness!!! Its probably better Seth did his own thing instead of being bounded by star trek rules…
at 2:00 i would have said, "The hell with it, fire again."
0:45 thats the same guy that acted in the movie Titanic
Yeah, he's one of those guys who has been in a ton of stuff.
IT'S LIKE THE BFG FROM DOOM!
Take us down, I've got a logic bomb brewing in my bowels!
'Oh you have a big ass weapon that can instantly wipe out entire fleets? Well come on down to our capital at the heart of our empire'. See, if I were the Kaylon, I would've waited until the Orville was in range of like 20 ships and all fired at once, as pretty sure they were just using standard shields still, and destroy them before they had a chance to set it off again.
Ahh You forgot that Issac Said that if the device is already Active and if they Kaylon tried anything to disable it will automatically Activated Which means that if They tried to destroy the Orville the device will Also activated and they are in the Heart of Kaylon system. Which mean It will destroy every Kaylon in there since the Neural Synchroniz Matrix is in their home planet.
I didn't see this series, but it looks very Star Trek like
I like to think they attacked twice. Once to check if bluffing. Second to see if it could only be used once.
Petter Griffen went to space, 🤣🤣🤣
Wasn't the admiral also Kelly's dad?
Friends with her father.
i love that show
2:50 is star wars the clone wars
Sometimes you have to double tap to get the message across.
Their red alert is a bit much. I’d find it hard to concentrate on your task with every surface of the ship flashing different sequences of red.
the background music vives reminds me star wars
I'm confused, isn't this a comedy sci-fi series? Where is the comedy?
Star Treck 2.0?
😅 The Kaylons are the Asurans/Replicators of that universe!
Agreed. I refuse to watch the nulltreks. Even if i do, i pirate. Boycott that shit.
However The Orville needs every bit of support. I watched it on Disney+ and will buy merchandise through Hulu. Hope it will get a s4, or better yet, outlive every single last nulltrek show!
Enterprise was damn good in my opinion and Voyager wasn't bad but boy oh boy wtf is Discovery and Picard? I tried hard to like them but I just can't. I liked the reboots but they weren't exactly Star Trek, not enough diplomacy and stuff.
@@Yaapo I mean lower decks in a fun show, it does nothing that nromal trek does but it still carries the same soul that trek does. It takes time to get used to at first but you'll probably like it
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has done a good job evoking TOS. Orville is doing a good job evoking Next Gen. Star Trek fans finally have something to carry us forward.
@@danieldickson8591 No. SNW barely qualifies as Star Trek. It's only called good because STD and Discard was disgracefully bad. So bad that it has done irreparable damage to the franchise. Alex Kurtzmen and his lot of trolls have been destroying Star Trek since 2009. They literally started copying The Orville in STD because they can't write Star Trek nor do they like Star Trek. Disgraceful shit. The Orville and SNW are not the same. I hope Alex Kurtzmen trek crash and burn in the most spectacular fashion, thanks.
DEVICE LIKE A SONAR IN THA OCEAN.
What fictional universe?
Symbolically, this is the A-bombing of Nagasaki (second use of the weapon) and the USS Missouri sailing into Tokyo Bay all wrapped up in one.
RW:ive heard of a EMP Burst but this is ridiculous 😁
when your special effects look like in a videogame ...
Giggity!
2/3 the cast of family guy vs giant robotic fleet
It's kinda funny how the jokes are so infrequent now. Even the cultural shock stuff is less "har de har" and more , "hmmm the Universe is a really big place. I wonder what actual aliens will be like"
Its Brian from family guy!
Great video.
Didn't think acouple of flouro blue circle could hold a starship on a planet though
Well, there were actually four flouro blue circles. 😉
I miss Charly.
the only thing i didnt like about this episode is how this weapon sort of came out of no where.
Actually they did foreshadow it in a previous episode with Timmins. When they talked about how with the information about their neuro network they can devise counter measures and some sort of weapon to fight them.
The story Seth wanted to tell was less about the development of the weapon and more about how it was used
🎌💖
Humans will never reach this development. Doomsday is near
Why would you fire on a ship that you just watched vaporize a dozen of your ships in a second? Not very intelligent for an android race. Everytime I hear Seth's voice on the intercom talking to someone, I picture Brian in the captains seat! lol
It's to make sure they can use the weapon more then once. if it can only be used once and burns itself out the second attack would have easily taken the ship and the weapon's remains for study.
@@Headhunter1234256 I'm guessing they have sensors for that.
@@Steve.Cutler are the sensors able to pick up something that small in the heart of the engine room on a ship ready for battle?
@@Headhunter1234256 well, I don't see how that would matter, sensors can detect active charged weapons in most space worlds. I don't feel like arguing about it, we'll just have to agree to disagree. I'm not knocking the show I love it.
I would have thought it is because they needed to see it used in rapid succession, if it could only be used once before requiring significant maintenance then it would be easy to counter.
Wow
Every clip has comments filled with people calling this better than current Trek. Being better than current Trek is easy as it has 100% lost it's way.
Trek was about showing what we could be without ism's and warring ideologies while new Trek shows a future more screwed up by them than modern day.
They forgot the basic Star Trek formula for inspiring people which is show don't tell. Show a better humanity working together without internal conflict.
There is a reason that so much is inspired by old Trek in our lives and nothing inspired by new Trek.
DS9 was when Trek started falling apart philosophically and the new stuff is simply deconstructing and vilifying that which came before it.
