Emily In Paris Season 3 Fashion Gets WORSE (thankfully this is part 2)

- Emily in Paris is back for another season, and this time there's a new costume designer, but it's Emily soi it's the same old thing. Her outfits are still gaudy, loud, and obnoxious, but I think this season there is a bit more of thought that's going into her outfits. And brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Giambattista Valli, Jacquemus, Miu Miu, & lots of Schiaparelli! I mean not much, but somewhat. And of course, we'll break down the other cast members' outfits like Mindy, Camille, Gabriel, Sylvie, & of course Julian!

Mindy's look for the engagement party gets even tackier when you consider her Chinese heritage. Traditionally, Chinese brides wear red and gold on their wedding day, to symbolize prosperity, fertility, and good fortune in their new marriage. So Mindy essentially showed up at someone else's engagement party dressed like a bride.
Right?? It’s SO tacky
I know!! Like, who isn't studying before tracking these decisions?
Don't be fucking absurd. Her outfit is tacky but she absolutely did NOT 'essentially' show up dressed like a bride. Everyone wears red and gold to festive events, including traditional weddings. The thing that makes it a Chinese wedding dress is the cut and accessories, not the colors, and the cut of her dress is DEFINITELY not 'wedding dress'. Don't mislead white people just so you can get a snide comment in.
I had no idea!! That's so incredibly inappropriate. So embarrasing that the showrunners try to be more inclusive and still this happens.
I think it's even tackier that Emily wore a gown with a train to a wedding. Your wedding day is the only day in your life where you would be expected to wear a gown with a train and Emily decides to show up looking like that to a wedding that's not hers. Explains why she and Mindy are friends!
Emily in Paris is a Netflix adaptation of Margot Robbie in Chanel 🤭
Why did I totally get that reference? 😅 I can see it so clearly.
😂😂😂
You’re so right omg
The way I choked on my water
Brutal 💀😂
I HATE Mindy’s outfits. Even more than Emily’s. They take tacky to a new level.
I think I hated both of their clunky shoes most.
I hated every sungle cutout or transparet fantasy she wore, everything looked horrendous
I'm all for showing some skin but with a lot of mindy's outfits this season I was like 'god... mindy... not here'
Yeah terrible
I think a lot of us would be very curious to know the actual cost of these outfits. Obviously, it’s a fantasy that Emily could afford any of these outfits let alone one after another after another. Love to get a little reality check on this.
Sylvie just goes from strength to strength. That striped suit was too good.
Luke never disappoints. The quality of these videos are beyond words could describe.
I think Emily's outfits are styled like a chaotic twee because she is trying so hard to be someone she's not. The character is a mess because the cognative dissonance is palpable. I hope we will see more authentic, harmonious looks as the character matures.
I can't decide if Emily's and Mindy's outfits are supposed to be jokes/critiques on the characters (like the leads in Absolutely Fabulous) or just bad. Could go either way.
@@floraposteschild4184 I think it’s meant to show they only fit in their own fantasies of Paris rather than reality. Hence they look so out of place.
@@beckyy584 you are very right, however this can go 2 ways. 1° the production of the show does that intentionally and is using to clothes to create this weird fantasy Paris they live in and that only exists in their heads, in which case is a genious move as social criticism. 2° they don't do it intentionally and just for whatever reason they are doing it, making the show's fashion and message even more tragic.
I wouldn’t have a problem with her outfits if she expressed more interest in fashion. She wears these over the top outfit but doesn’t acknowledge them at all, it’s like we’re ignoring the big elephant in the room. I think what you said makes total sense and I agree but it doesn’t translate well in the show
Chaotic twee is the perfect description of how I dressed at 22. I love it! It’s the time to do it!
The “wedding” wasn’t initially supposed to be a wedding. It was supposed to be an engagement party but the couple decided better now than never. (Explaining the lack of grandeur for Camille’s “wedding dress”)
Sylvie’s and Gabriel’s outfits are the only reason i continue watching this show
I think it's such a shame how little the show cares about actual french clothes 😣 Provence has a strong history of traditional fabrics that can be used to had a little vintage touch, it would have been great to see them in the episode ! Like come on, the Souleaido bag that Lady Di loved ? It's a classic !
when did americans had respect for anything or anyone??
luke loves to say he’s not a stylist but i do think he would seriously kill being a stylist for a tv series
There are so many moments in the show where I say out loud “what is she weaarrringg” in the worst way. It ruins so many scenes because I can’t get past it. Also Alfie gives me the ick.
Yes, thank you! I can't stand Alfie, he's completely void of personality.
“Her very plaid adventure” is my favorite Luke line in this video
Something that always makes me cackle is the fact that at the moment so many different styles and sub genres those styles are trending that it’s more impressive that Emily and Mindy still manage to just look badly dressed and somehow out of style
The amount of power Stylist Luke would hold is far too much
In the guests defence for camille and gabriels wedding, it was originally just an engagement party but it turned into a wedding. Still, never take away attention from the bride
the 'couture on couture' that emily always displays is a testimony of what the character lacks - personality. carry bradshaw mixed high and low and still looked cookie and authentic cause she cared for fashion and was a multi faceted character. people (and characters) that love fashion - talk about it.
my favorite thing from this season is the fact that I am going to view every flight attendant as a dominatrix for the rest of my life
You and me both lmao
What vax do I need to board the flight?
I don't watch EiP, but man do I live for these videos tearing the fashion apart. Analytically, of course.
It's hard to be bad dressed right now, because everything seems to be trendy. So I'll give them credit for that, it must take a lot of effort dressing Emily that bad.
Fr, cuz u can doesnt mean u shld
Camille's skirt outfit with the lace on the skirt, is Vaillant Studio. Their designs are lingerie inspired and super cool
Could you please cover the Viktor&Rolf 2023 upside down runway that just happened? It was so wild and I’d love to hear what you think. Love your channel :)
Thank you Luke, I’m learning so much about fashion history with your videos!
How much money does Emily make because she seems to be spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on her clothes....
I don’t remember in detail but I saw someone on IG try to figure it out, estimating her pay to be around 80,000 dollars while all the things she does and the clothes would go well into the 100,000 dollars so yeah that doesn’t match at all
Talking about headscarfs can u do like a series where u react to different styles/ asthetics
Would love to see that
Love ur vids
I don’t watch Emily in Paris but I appreciate the fashion chat, the laughs and a little fashion history education ❤
"And this threw the vibe off, off a cliff". Some peeps need oxygen, I need this series.
The yellow jacket Emily wears in episode 9, reminded me of the Loewe collection you brought up recently! I know that one was specifically Howl's Moving Castle.. but if there was ever a Totoro collection for example, you could take that jacket and turn the buttons into soot sprites! 😍 It could play on the innocence of that movie, maybe even add a hood and look like a classic child's raincoat or something. 🤔 The buttons just inspired me, and I felt like sharing. 😅😊
Am i getting stockholm syndrome cause i actually like most of her looks this season. They are very eye-catching and quite unique without being horrendous like the previous two seasons.
They did better this season. Only like three of the looks gave me a migraine 🤣
Same here lol
Agreed
I'm dead 😂 this was perfectly said
When the bar is in the 9th circle of heck, the third circle looks GOOD in comparison 😂
I love these, I used to live in Paris, am married to a Frenchie and just love fashion. Something always feels too American with all these looks. Maybe it’s to hit their “audience” with “cool fashion”.
Now Mindys red latex look. Hope first it wasn’t loud for a picnic date 😂 but it could have worked well, but that hat ….had it been slightly different could have been less Babybel and more artsy beret chic.
IM CRYING! Lmao … “the headscarf plays into the character … and herrrrr… basicness !” Lmaooo
The weird mushroom bob tuck hair is somehow still better than her wispy bangs that only serve to give her a mono-brow, that distracts me every time
The talcum powder comment had me on the floor. So funny.🤣🤣🤣
Emily is American. Americans have their own vision of what French fashion should be. Tacky, big and colorful lol. So from her point of view, she dresses.
So she dresses accordingly.
The thing that gets me with Emily's outfits. Is that I can't stop hearing Regina George from mean girls going. Stop trying to make fetch happen. And that's the feeling I get from the show. That they are trying so hard to make fashion moments happen but they just aren't. Like when I show forces fashion to happen. Instead of happen naturally, you get so many missed outfits for characters and no fashion statement was made
Do you have a video already about all your fashionbooks? Would love to have a look into that collection!
Good morning Luke finally another great video and yes thank you ;)
Im a regular hood dude doing food reviews on my UA-cam channel 😮💨
I don't watch the show, I just watch the roasts :D
So proud of u for actually making a part 2 video Luke xo
This is by far the best season for fashion. It’s still bad, but better
I have never clicked faster, I am so here for this roast
You need to review your thoughts on Gwendoline Christie’s break down if 10 looks with Vogue! Her description of each look is awe-inspiring. I thought you’d appreciate her passion.
I LIVED in Pucci-inspired clothes as well frequent obsessions with lace and sweetness when I was young.
Hot pink was my favorite color. I dressed like Emily because I wanted to experiment with being the center of attention for once, finally feeling beautiful after corrective jaw surgery for my RA. (I was so transformed, I was truly being the butterfly coming out of her chrysalis.)
I would’ve expected myself to watch this show because I love looking at wild fashions and also worked in marketing at Emily’s age but primarily in creating in-house materials for corporate crap, like their booklets for employee health plans or recruitment material for new graduates, and one proud-moment print ad for Mitsubishi. But I feel like I wouldn’t even enjoy hate-watching because I would just be too bitter missing my youth, to be brutally honest.
I don’t watch the show, but though this review, I simply cannot see how these outfits are supposed to represent Emily from what I’ve heard about her character. Is this just a commercial?
I NEED the yellow vest and skirt set Mindy wears!!
Luke having a "scariest airline flight attendant" I just 🤣🤣🤣💀
Actually lily collins said that, that lavander dress is a Giambattista Valli’s costume made. The pink one is on the official poster
I wish you would address the contribution of Mainbocher, the American designer who created Wallace Simpson's wedding dress. He also created the uniforms for women in the US military and air force during WWII.
Maybe it is my tablet but the pictures of the outfits are so dark compared your stream, I can hardly see some of them. I absolutely love your commentary even though I know next to nothing about fashion. I don't really even care about it but you really are a treat to listen to! So I will watch and learn.
Would you pleease do one on American horror story: hotel?😬 I would love to hear your take on the fashion in it👏🏻
The orange jacket reminds me of... well... clown fish 😂
you should take a look at the outfits of season 2 of gossip girl (RIP), it had some real high and low points in fashion
Oh... Charade, I adore that movie, it's so funny and romantic, and full of more or less unexpected twists, Audrey is beautiful and captivating as always, and Cary Grant is just awesome, no one knew how to wear suits like Cary Grant. Like... I'm not usually attracted to men, but Cary Grant is one of the few that I see and think "Okay, I get it."
DAMN i love a lot of the outfits on emily this time! Maybe firing patricia fields was a good idea after all
‘It’s positively overwhelming - just like her’ 😅
Emily's beaded vest reminds me of my Campfire Girl days in the 1960's . Instead of Girl Scott honor badges on a sash, Campfire Girls sewed honored beads onto a vest - an American version of a Native American rawhide garment. It could have been done better.
CONTENT SUGGESTION: can u review some of your favorite outfits in all of cinema? Even chill tv shows like Buffy the vampire slayer?
I’m OBSESSED with the Pucci, Camille outfit.
4:48 This is how Mindy should've been dressed for the show!! Like how an actual crazy rich Asian would dress, not like Disney Channel on steroids.
Luke can you review the recruitment of Kid Super for Louis Vuitton? His drains are out of this world…the letter bags omg
This season I actually enjoyed this is probably the best season fashion wise and best plot wise I’ve never seen show I actually improve slowly through out this season if it does get a season 4 hopefully it gets better (it’s trashy it’s a hot mess but it’s my hot mess and I will binge it and I Stan lily Collins)
Luke great video, just fyi Mary Katrantzou is a Greek designer and is pronounced cat-trant-zoo
Icelandair crews definitely have that threatening/dominating flare 😅
Surprised you liked the purple jacket, I saw it and thought it looked like a bath sponge
the really sad thing is how much money those often butt ugly clothes cost.
Wearing a train to someone else's wedding is tacky: "how can I try to steal attention from the bride without wearing a long, white gown" tacky. And as other people have mentioned, red and gold are traditional Chinese wedding gown colours. No wonder Mindy and Emily are friends.
It wasn't a wedding, it was an engagement party. Luke got that wrong.
The way you stay on Ms Emily's neck I LIVVEEE
Thank you! I got a great laugh. Again 👏👏👏
20:04 Not relevant, but did anyone else immediately think of Bratz dolls seeing these shoes? 😂
I feel like every look they put Emily in, the outfits are wearing her and it feels really forced
Mary Katrantzou is Greek but lives and works in London
omfg I wish the lighting was better. You can barely see the looks in some of these shots
please do a fashion review of gossip girl reboot!
OK, did anyone else like Julian's Pac-Man shirt during the Turner & Ascott meeting?
Can’t wait for that Paris Fashion Week video tho!
Can u do a review of pfw men's wear winter collection that happened last week
mindy’s outfits don’t make any sense to me, she always misses. never had a good look. they hate her.
Please make video like this about gossip girl rebot ❤️❤️❤️
Can you please do a season 4 review pls.
the party in the last episode was an engagement party, the wedding part was decided on the spot. so it wouldn't make sense for Camille to have a wedding dress on hand and Emily and Mindy wouldn't worry about upstaging her.
I find the clips I’ve seen for this show so annoying that I can’t even hate watch it or watch it only for the fashion.. 🥴🥴🥴
Im getting sick of those shoes. The actresses look like they're struggling to walk in them. Lol
The Purple outfit is both a reference to the lavander fields and the mclaren car.
I personally love Emily in Paris because I see a bit of myself in her as wanting to aspire to be a fashionista in the streets of Paris plus it’s a funny too but I will say the outfits are very hit or miss never really in between ❤
The lavender/purple maclaren thing is part of a lavender infused wine the party it launching
considering the title of this video, you were pretty forgiving 😌
The white and orange outfit from episode 6 could be referencing McLaren’s team color
camille's set is vaillant studios!
I just hate houndstooth print and that grey outfit on Emily was just horrible!
🤣🤣🤣 I love you ♥️
Blessings from México 🙏
The show only exists to sell clothing etc. It is litterly a marketing thing.
I'm obsessed with that blue polkadot dress and I am going to try to make it with a puff sleeve vneck pattern I have
I’m struggling to finish this season. The story line is just meh and the acting is bad
He complimented Emily a lot in this one
Can you you do a reaction to Bling Empire New York PLEASEEEE 😭
I keep seeing Emily in Paris as a Young Carrie Bradshaw goes to Paris. I didn’t like most of Bradshaw’s clothes, and EIP’s are worse. I’m an old fussy woman, but can’t a young, creative woman be sanely dressed?
Love your French 😄
For a show so chock full of fashion it's weirdly lacking in style.
Okay but I love certain pieces but not how they're paired! Mostly I'm speaking from the first season but still.
Thank you for your sacrifice. You watched it so we don't have to :) 🤔😆🤣
Isn't Mary Katrantzou greek designer? ( Located in London)
