Fun fact: Vivienne Westwood redesigned the Brits statue (the actual award you take home) and that is a union jack-y design with an asymmetrical shoulder, so I think Amelia was basically a giant Westwood award!

It reminds me of the weather worn flags in paintings in the neoclassical style.
That's the beauty of it. If it were an outright union jack, it would be too literal. She'd look draped in a flag which anyone can do. If you look at it, you'll notice "parts" of the flag. You have to figure it out. It's also hand dyed or painted. NOT easy. I think it's brilliant.

loved Luke's comments on trans people. very adequate: whether you know about it or not, trans people have been known of for a very long time, and just because you don't know about it, doesn't mean that they never existed before

I don't know if they ALL run to dress Lizzo; I think she still has issues getting designer fashion, as do many "plus size" celebrities. Although I acknowledge that it's still easier for famous big people to dress themselves than the average person, especially if they're rich too (the two are not always related).

Oh yes. Most designers do not make clothes in large sizes unless it's custom made and again, designers just won't do it.
I loved Sam Smith's look, but, in Brazil, some people were mad because of the rubber. What happened here was that people who collected the raw elements for rubber killed and had been killing a bunch of native brazilians (yanomami), they also stole a bunch of their land and now it's a full blown crisis. (they shipped it to various countries) BUT I also think that not everybody is going to know this, so people should cut him some slack.

Sam's fit is hilarious to me! Obviously I don't know their intention with wearing it but after being ridiculed for the attire in their new music video I think it's like a middle finger. Sam is completely covered from the neck down which could be a response to those saying the music video was inappropriate. I also love that the silhouette is puffy and oversized bc a lot of the commentary surrounding Sam's wardrobe lately has been super fat-fobic. They show up on the red carpet, not afraid to take up SPACE! But Sam gave the haters EXACTLY what they asked for (coverage wise) and they still aren't happy. I just adore a subtle clapback.
They are trying too hard to prove that they aren't nice as they came off when they first came out. What easier way then changing up what you wear.

You should've included Harry's look he was wearing when he accepted his awards. It was by S.S. Daley and I really like all the little details, like the embroidery, hand painted buttons, and the collar that was made to look like a classic sailors uniform

In defence of the Selma Hayek necklace, I think that the slightly more sophisticated knot necklace saves it from being costume-y, and makes it more red carpet. It didn't have to be the necklace, but I think she needed something to shift it away from 'Mum's reliving her emo phase'.

I liked that the fashion for this event was actually interesting, like it or not. I love the girls with the brown leather. The color is associated with Cordovan leather. That leather is known for being super stiff so seeing it folded is interesting.

Lizzo in Act No.1 was beautiful. She has the most beautiful expressive face. Framing it as she did in a pink soft fabric, not sure what to call it, was quirky and elegant. Lizzo is giving so many styles a go. The red cape she wore at the Grammys was gorgeous. 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ

You often mention Grace Jones being the inspiration for all the partial hood moments happening at Saint Laurent the last few seasons. Maybe. But I think Yves inspiration drew from how women dressed in Morocco and the Marrakesh, hiding their bodies in long sleeves and hoods. Maybe worth mentioning. Or looking into. Sure Grace looked incredible when she put the hood on, and it made for great photographs. But I think Anthony V. is referencing from Yves love of Morocco.

The skeleton dress is infact anatomically correct. Although one does not think it can be true, your actual hip socket sits much higher that what you anticipate. What you feel on the side of your leg (what most people refer to as their hip) is infact your greater trochanter (part of the femur bone). There are also ribs under the breasts, so it is correct, just not aesthetically pleasing
I love seeing Luke wearing casual trendy looks while discussing red carpet looks, I learn a lot about both... but as a knitter, please explain why the ripped/distressed knitwear is a thing right now! It looks cool, but I feel like both me and the sweater are distressed about it!!

I really like Lizzos dress. I thought the outward ruffle thing reminded me of a gem/mineral growing out of the earth. The closest I could think of was rutile

Bimini Bon Boulash’s look is also pretty awesome considering the dress is uniting the UK with trans colors almost like a response against some very well-known British TERFs. And just from the video at 0:08 it looks like the dress has a large deconstructed shelf bustle which I personally was starved for during the Gilded Age Met Gala, and that is just incredible💕

I think the award show was before that, I'm not sure, but the whole situation over there on terf Island is a tragedy in itself, and the well known, very loud transphobes definitely have blood on their hands, as do the media that give them platforms and help conceal what it really is.

This is awesome - the fit and support does NOT get to look this good on curvy bodies every day. So many designs are meant for smaller chests and don't compliment this proportion. The problem with Sam Smith and even Harry Styles is that they are trying to be fashion icons, without being much of icons themselves. Crazy unique styles worked on someone like Prince, Madonna or David Bowie or even dare I say Lady Gaga, because they were music revolutionaries in the first place. Both Sam and Harry have some good songs, but they are extremely average. And they even look average. I'm sorry, but it is true. The actual icons I mentioned above have a very unique face and look. Now Harry just looks like any guy and Sam like a chubby uncle who found out he likes to be plowned.
