I picked up my CSX, cleaned it up, and headed to the range. I ran 500 rds through this micro pistol and it ran flawlessly. I noticed the trigger felt better after about 100 rounds. The pistol didn't have a problem with steel case, aluminum. or brass. I ran anything from 115 grain to 147 grain bullets and the pistol did not miss a beat. I will reiterate that this not a competition piece, strictly a deep conceal carry EDC firearm. I feel very confident carrying the CSX since it appears to be very reliable and well-constructed. The best gun is the gun that feels best to you!!

just what we needed, another micro subcompact. i'm glad it's a hammer gun, instead of another striker fired variant. i would have preferred a da sa gun. i guess it's competing with the sig 938. i would buy it if it had a 4 inch barrel & 15 plus 1 capacity. appreciate your honesty about it, instead of saying it's the best thing ever, like most you tube reviewers.

It’s worth mentioning that DA/SA is on the outs right now. See new shooters are steering away from DA/SA cause of the issues with disengagement of the safety. That’s why they decided against DA/SA on the CSX. It’s why Springfield armory discontinued the XD-E last month. For some reason new shooters are avoiding the DA/SA platform. I went to a striker gun with a trigger safety cause the SAO with reliance on the safety was making me nervous. Now I do still retain my old P938 for situations where I prefer to be armed but need discretion cause it hides so much better then most guns

Wish it had full 360 degree checkering going all the way up and had a 4 lbs trigger.
Also, eliminate the right side slide lock and have a standard Browning, push button on the right for easier, toolless takedown. And a rail.
    Good start though.

I have to say, I absolutely love my CSX. I have 400 rounds through it with absolutely no issue. I use a golf tee for a non marring take down. Only complaint I may have is that the 10 round mag fully loaded is abit difficult to seat, but does work.
This is a good option, and once you take it down a few times, I think it’s easier than a majority of the other Micro 9s.
I also thought the frame looked strange but honestly the portion that is left untextured makes no difference. S&W did a good job putting texture where it is needed.
Also as mentioned, my trigger has lightened up with use. It’s by far the shortest pull of any of the new Micro 9s, but may outweigh some by a pound or so.
I do have to say the HST +p rounds pack a punch out of this gun, other than that, standard range ammo is a breeze.

I can't wait to get my hands on one and see for myself. My EDC is a Sig P938. I have extensive experience with mil issued M9s, and own and shoot most every other category of handguns. The new micro 9s tempted me with higher round counts but i didnt want to give up my SA 938. This has me seriously considering a change in my EDC.

Oh wow, that smaller backstrap makes the gun look stupid. Why would they even include that without any sort of side panel to hide that gap in the frame? I can't belive they thought that was okay.

    • @chrisporter7534
      @chrisporter7534 2 роки тому

Smaller back strap is designed for small hands only. The texture on small back is like extreme sand paper in the front & back of grip, you would need to wear a t-shirt with appendix carry to protect your soft belly.

New subscriber to your channel. I like your honesty. I love my CSX purchased yesterday. Mine is a newer serial number series than yours and mine has no reset issue, no take down issue and 10 round mag loads easily. I guess S&W reads the numerous posts and the various channels. I have been a hammer fired single action lover with the 928, 238 and Micro 9. I still have all of my past S&W duty weapons, 39, 59, 469, 5906 and 6906. The CSX is a good addition. It has several pros going for it, but I can't figure out why I would need a single action gun. I have DA/SA guns with a safety that allows for condition 1 carry that is never used. That and a crappy trigger reset have me as shy to this gun as I an be. Great review!

I can't believe they released this gun in it's current form. That small back strap it's just awful. The plastic texturing on the front of the grip that gets broken off during mag changes. The 10rd mags that are effectively the same size as 12rd mags. The loose spacer on the 12 rd mag flopping around. It's just a mess.

Seems like a cool option. The gap left by the larger backstrap would drive me nuts from an aesthetic perspective, also a hot metal frame coming out of a glovebox will get toasty to hold and I'd want as little metal on skin contact as possible. Thanks for the video.

I want to like this gun, but I do shoot to reset and I’m afraid that false click would drive me nuts. I think there might be a place in the market for micro lights even smaller than those out for the P365. Anyway, if it had a rail, you’d have the choice to use it or not.

Mine mags wouldn’t insert if full initially. After 48 hours, I could get a full 10 round mag in. Never could get the 12 round mag to seat. Could only load it to 11 and had to physically pull the mag out of the gun with 11 rounds in it. Mags dropped free as you would expect otherwise. Trigger was very heavy and gritty on mine, but not unusable. The dealbreaker for me was that the slide bites me when I shoot it. It’s just too small for my hands. Ended up selling the gun at a slight loss. I think it’s a neat idea for a gun. Just didn’t work out for me.

I hope Smith & Wesson fixes that awful trigger dongle safety that wont let you do follow up shots without fully disengaging your finger from the trigger. The extremely high trigger weight is awful as well. Other than those 2 things I think it would be a great carry gun for folks that like the 1911. Yes, we know its not a 1911, but has a similar style of operation. Perfect for summer carry! I am not worried about a light on a tiny carry gun. The only one that would fit is a O light mini 600 lumen anyway.

Did S&W give you any insight into why they felt the need to include a trigger safety on a SA that already has a more traditional thumb safety? The logic for this redundancy evades me and it seems omitting the former would offer a simplified trigger mechanism and could provide a smoother trigger pull. (Kudos to S&W for incorporating M&P-like thumb safety functionality - enabling the operator to rack the slide while the thumb safety is engaged.)

    • @124thDragoon
      @124thDragoon 2 роки тому

“Trigger dingus” style safeties are rudimentary drop safeties, nothing more. The safety lever and the trigger shoe have vastly different masses, which causes them to react to hitting the floor (when dropped muzzle up) at different rates. Thus preventing the trigger pulling itself due to inertia during a fall.

Imo, I don't really get all the moaning and groaning with the gun being SA only.
DA/SA and decockers need extra parts and space. Want second strike capability? You aren't gonna have that with a striker fired gun, either.
Doesn't look like the hammer would catch on much. I don't think it sticks out.
The gun is too slim for optics and lights. I'm fine with that. I'll buy a different gun for that.
The gun is "small" for some people. The whole point of the gun is to be small?! I don't understand the P365 macro xl trend, either. Just buy a compact or a full size at that point.
The grip panel thing, though, totally sucks. The front panel is a terrible idea. They should have just machined the checkering into the front. Not using traditional side grips probably helps with reducing the width, but leaving those gaps with the different backstrap is gross.

#2) it has a hammer, which I love. But it's not DA/SA, which I want my hammer guns to be...
#3) that front grip plate being so unforgiving of 'sloppy mag insertion,' doesn't work for me-- what is this? *Taurus c.1998?!*

Why waste time learning DA/SA when single action and striker fire exist, and for all intents and purposes work just as well - if not better? I've had a double action pistol, and I don't miss that janky mush-trigger on the first shot. Just because one *can* get used to something doesn't mean they *have* to, and it doesn't mean they're "too immature to hold ANY firearm-- ever."

I'm sorry... I love the idea of this fire arm.... but the issue is that this firearm has 4 big flaws. 1) the untextured aluminum grip loos like crap, 2) 10 round magazine does not fit when fully loaded, 3) the Triggers if horrendous for a cock and locked singe action gun... why the F would you put a dingus on it?! 4) That front finger pad, fact that it can be broke when inserting a mag.... that is a BIG design flaw!

NOT being DA/SA w/decocker is why I am not interested in this gun. I carry hammer-fired and striker-fired guns, but I don't care to get used to cocked-and-locked.

Bersa Thunder TPR9C is alloy DA/SA with ambidextrous safety, decocker, and accessory rail-everything the CSX lacks. but the CSX is pretty and petite.

Ok. So maybe I don't shop at Dollar General or Walmart enough...$600 for a domestically produced, metal framed, hammer fired pistol of reputable construction and somewhat innovative (i.e., not a direct ripoff of others' development) design is a Bargain! Seriously, is everyone so hooked on promoting Caniks and other imported polymers that they sell their patriotism for $50??

See this is the biggest slap in the face. I saw a little stack and a half single action gun with that 1911 looking trigger and got excited thinking that this would be a perfect little gun, but nope, it's just an micro 9 with a gimmick. Guess I'll have to wait for sig to make a stack and a half 238 or 938.

For $600 you can by a Beretta m9. This gun is way overpriced. Also it’s basically a compact 2011. I wish they’d made it da/sa. Now that would be worth $600.

Most of the dislikes here are irrelevant if you want a SA and no rail. The mag sleeve is or isn't a prob? OK so the gun is too small for your mits. Worried about loosing takedown tools? Only thing that made sense was if I care about it, that's up to me, you bet. You review was valueless. (is that better) I bailed early, bye.
