I think the problem a lot of people have with the ending is the fact that Eldia is attacked in the future due to Eren not completing 100% of the Rumbling. However, the author’s intent was to demonstrate that no matter what, humanity will always fight against each other. Hypothetically speaking, even if Eren did complete the Rumbiling and only Eldians exist, they would eventually find a reason to fight in a long enough timeline. The case that Eldians fighting Eldians is better than the world fighting Eldians makes no sense. At the end of the day, people will always fight people regardless of their shared or unshared blood/ancestry. The point of Attack on Titan is to show the viewers that humanity will always fight itself - whether it be by difference of race or not. The world is cruel and no Rumbiling could ever stop human hate from propagating itself again in the future. We can see it with our world today, there’s been two world wars already and the fighting still continues.
But, if that's the case, wouldn't it be better to end it with Eldians fighting Eldians? I mean, if the main point is to show humanitiy's thirst for fight with itself, showing that, even after the Rumbling being succesful at eliminating every outside threat for Eldians, then seeing them fighting each other would make the whole point more clear, in the sense that Eldians would still find a reason to kill each other and became an inside threat for themselves. The current ending just continues the story as like nothing really happend, since non-Eldians are still trying to erase Eldians because of the same racist reason (maybe the whole point is just that racism cannot be erased from humanity by force? Idk). Your argument just serves precisely as an explanation of why the ending should have been diferent.

It's so sad that everything was destined since the first scene, and seeing the las one in the final episode real ties it all up together. Eren was never free
Technically he was, he has the choice to do whatever he wanted. He could have run away with Mikasa and lived out the rest of his 4 years in peace like he simulated in the paths. It's more so I think that he saw all the different possibilities using his founding titan/attack titan power and decided which was the best outcome for his friends and loved ones. If he just ran away it would have screwed over his people on Paradis, his friends, and the Titan curse would forever continue, Armin would have died soon after because of his Titan shifter power, Historia would have been used and bred for the sake of the island because of her royal blood, etc. I think it's more like there really was no better option so he did what he thought was best.
@@ThatsNotGaming sorry brother I don’t agree. Remember that the power of the attack titan has a will of its own, fight for freedom. That’s why eren still wanted to kill everyone “without knowing why”. Everything was sealed from the beginning he was a slave to freedom - also attack titan power.

An interesting difference between MAPPA and WIT is that WIT's director has the characters move more (Eren touching his face when he realizes he was crying). It also might be due to time constraints but subtle movements like that add more towards the scene and make the characters feel more alive. But both studios are doing great in their own ways.
Wit replaced it with something better, it was able to attract the watcher with the traumatized scene that has on episode 1 than the "see you later, eren", ...i mean some people might get dizzy at the first episode tho
@@pickleiguess6986 If you say so Don't know how how it's better than the plot twist of episode 1 to almost 10 years of waiting for just that one dizzy scene 🤷♂️
It’s so weird because Eren woke up and was like, I just had a bad dream and Mikasa asked why he was crying. And in chapter 139 Mikasa’s head was throbbing because she knew she had to kill eren and she was like “I just want to go back home.” And she started like, imagining or dreaming or whatever what would’ve happened if she told Eren the truth about her liking him when he asked her what he is to her. And in her dream she woke up crying and Eren was there and her asked what was wrong and she said she had a long dream (like Eren in the first chapter) and then Eren noticed she was crying and asked why she was crying (like Mikasa in the first chapter) and it’s just a whole thing. So, yeah, that’s one of the reasons why I love attack on Titan so much ❤️
I think her dream or imagining actually did happen tho, I think Eren simulated a sort of what would happen scenario in the paths and in that infinite time in the paths they were able to spend those last 4 years of Eren's life together and then somehow she forgot about it, maybe because Ymir was in her head and had something to do with it, not quite clear why she remembers it at the end or how she ever forgot about it because the Founding Titan power of erasing memories shouldn't work on the Ackerman's bloodline.
@@adrianotalavera9474 At that point in time, Ymir's curse would end up killing eren (Since a titan shifter can only live for 13 years), he would have died anyway.

I liked the character of Eren Jeager. In fact, I wanted him to wipe out 100% instead of just 80. But what eren did wasn't justice. It was abuse of power and violation of human rights. It was legally and morally wrong. Eren can't control his emotions. Emotions control him. If it was real life, I wouldn't be rooting for a short tempered lad at all.

I'm sorry but WiT Studios lighting was fucking phenomenal. Mappa is really good too - I've seen what other animes look like when MAPPA was given more time - But literally nothing can beat WiT studio's amazing visuals, scenery, lighting and textures. Surprisingly, the use of CGI/3D backgrounds somehow worked really well with the way WiT studio did it?? You wouldn't expect that kind of stuff to really fit in with anime as its 2d but it somehow looks really good.
Agreed. I tend to prefer Wit over Mappa most of the time due to these factors. However I do like Mappa's character designs a lot as well as the way they draw expressions. The only thing I don't like is the lines on their faces, even if it's more faithful to Yam's artstyle.
I like Mappa too in some points, I think the point is that besides the extra time that Wit had, is that they had a dream team, several renowned directors and animators in the anime industry accepted Wit's invitation to participate in this project, Wit has or had counted with very talented people.
Wait so people hated the ending because the group that came back were still being hunted?? Lmfao okay, that ending was perfect and a great way of showing how no matter what happens humans will always find a reason to fight eachother. People really thought an anime like this would have a happy ending where everyone gets to live in peace 🤣🤣🤣🤣
If anyone here's watched Naruto, This is what Pain was after and if he could've executed and completed his plan, the concept would be quite simliar to AOT. Gotta say, the Pain arc and AOT are some of the finest quality storyline in all of Media.
-Many people said that eren’s efforts were all in vains because in the end the boy still discover the tree and the cycle will continue. However they totally forgot about one thing : Ymir’s situation was totally different. Ymir discover the tree while being chased with one blinded eye and an injured leg so she fell into the pit inside the tree. Out of desperation and frustration she and the worm merge and become the first titan alive. However, one thing people missed is that the worm was not a TITAN. It was the origin of lives. The reason why Ymir turned into a titan was because of her wish for being stronger and bigger to be able to resist the cruelty of this world. -The boy however, found the tree with excitement and curiosity. I Ymir’s flashback she was chased by dogs but in this scenario the boy is accompanied by a dog. Thus he was not injured so the possibility of him falling into the pit is likely to be zero. Even if he accidentally fall into the pit and meet the creature, with his positivity we can expect a birth of a harmless product. And to be honest, Ymir’s titan was not that bad also, it only get worse when king Fritz use her for war. This highly contrast theme has a deep meaning( at least for me), that we can rest our hopes onto the future generations to make a better world. It’s not just a plain and boring message that wars will happen over and over again as long as human exist. This is even clearer if you read the final song’s lyrics which in my opinion implies that the new generations will learn from the past’s mistakes and avoid them.
It would be ironically good if the ending goes like " eren you can sleep now" as in the first episode lines of Mikasa were "eren wake up". Imagine how good it will be telling eren to sleep at same place and only two of them just like before in last episodes. So the first words of Mikasa in show will be wake up eren and last words u can sleep eren
The first chapter, page number 13. This is the only numbered page in the entire manga. On the next page 14 we see a large number on the half of page 845. It seems that nothing unusual. Combine these numbers and get 13845, divide them differently as 138 and 45. Let's open chapter 138 to 45 and see the same thing as on page 13 of the first chapter.. Everything ended as it began. Also by the way, there are only 139 chapters in the manga and there will never be a 140th chapter. In numerology, the number 139 means: The energy of the earth (Rumbling I guess) and symbolizes the end of the cycle, death. Not a real death, but just the end of one period and, therefore, the beginning of another. The number 140 means: Freedom And freedom has never been and will never be, therefore there is no 140th chapter And this is only a small part of all the symbolism in this work
Pretty cool. I've never thought it would be a symbolism for specific numbers such as 139 and 140, tho i knew the number 13 can represent concepts like good or bad luck.

I don't understand why everyone is hating on the ending. Eren wiped out 80% of the humanity and you expect the rest of the world to blow over it and not destroy Paradis for Erin's sins?
it was an unbelievable anime, I thought that it was trash before I saw it and said many words but I guess I just judged a book by its cover...and A LOT actually I just wanna say how worth this is watching I couldnt be myself for 1,5 days after I ended it.Truly a master piece.
When I thought this bad dream could be tied up to a huge plot twist where everything is about that dream of a past memory lost in the paradox of a deleted timeline and the things that happened in the first episode doesn't happen, because it was just a dream, all the titans gone, a lot of changes happened because the Eren with the founder titan erased everything from happening, giving the boy Eren a whole new life where people has the freedom to live peacefully, but in exchange, Eren should have never existed in this world, because Grisha could never have to see his sister getting murdered, and maybe the whole people who existed due to the original titans, Ymir getting the parasite could be wiped out, all the conflicts could be gone, no titans no more war, the nations should be even more advanced and civilized, for this to happen Ysaiama had to have watched the Netflix series Dark, and got inspiration to do a way different and next level of a ending... I always imagined that Eren wanted to do whatever he had to do because he saw something peculiar in the future on his memories, and wanted really really bad to reach this future, so for that to work he had to go and fight Marley by himself and use the founder titan with Zeke's help, get to see the Coordinate, get more memories of his father, and in a better way, to Eren see a future of one of the original Attack Titan from years ago, the true person to manipulate Eren to reach this future, and in the end of the final battle the parasite could show up for some reason and acquire a new host to control and Eren figure something out, touching the parasite did something completely different happen, Eren could see every person who got titan power though the years, and find that one person that was occulted in his memory, unlocking a new power, Eren can revive everyone who died in the past years on the Island of Paradis, reborn everyone person who got turned into titan using the data of these titan with the information saved in the parasite, they could come back where they all died, the memories could be rewritten to make them forget everything about titans and the sins from the past, Eren dying in the process to save humanity forever, has a moment with Mikasa and makes a memory where they could live together forever and peacefully but the real Eren Yeager will be erased in this world, a lot of things changed, main character's names are totally different but the faces will be familiar to audience, everyone doing good on life in this world of freedom with no more walls, time skips to normal days like in the real world where a group of swimmers in their boat with the name of Yeager are trying to find something under the sea and they find a mysterious rock with a weird looking creature inside it, it's the parasite, stuck just like Annie back in the days, they are studying it and talking about place it in a Museum, and it ends....
I've got this theory that some of Eren's memories where split into paths and where sent to kid Eren, the titan invasion, and Carla dying was one of those memories, the red suit and the plushies are probably from Lara Tybur's memories and the soldiers death maybe the ones that Annie killed? Since it looks like the Big trees forest in the Season 1. Maybe the See You Later was one of those memories
Be pretty funny if that one tree was the reason for everything, just cause his head was dumped there. I know its not the case, but it'd be kind of amusing.
the time loop theory was proven to be correct! Eren cries cuz mikasa killed him in the future, with a kiss while his head being held. Also , the fact the he commented mikasa's hair being longer is because mikasa got her haircut in the future too.

Isayama already planned alternate endings for Attack on Titan since 2009. Isayama inspired his series or actually ripped it off from this game called MuvLuv and his heart was broken after getting an ending that wasn't in his taste, similar to the Attack on Titan manga. Then came MuvLuv Alternative which was the true ending to the game, and which I believe would be similar to the Attack on Titan anime. Lastly, speaking about timelines, we have Attack on School Castes which was a manga only thing or skit after the end of every volume in recent serializations. They did a cameo in the anime paths scene which speaks a lot about a timeline existing. I believe Isayama is a masterclass storyteller that is still continuing his series in anime form because he mentions before that the anime is his final version of the story. In the last page of the series, there lies a quote stating "Our battle is only getting started.", which for me is weird given that the series already ended. These hints should lead to something, otherwise it wouldn't make a lot of sense as well just like the ending songs.
In a french interview (here ua-cam.com/video/W0HPrLzaz6w/v-deo.html ) , Isayama stated that the anime will add some changes like he already did in the past, it won't be a "different" ending. It will just add up what was missing in the manga, more explanations.
I don't like aot and i never liked its hypetrain fanbase ... But... The scene of mikasa staying by the tree really hit me and made me cry.. She stayed by the tree and never stopped loving and remembering eren.. She was burried under the same tree... They loved each other but they neither could confess to the other. They never had a happy ending where they stayed together, despite all they did for each other.. Then after she died and all the time passing and futuristic war happening and then we see the overgrown ruins of the past... There's a feeling of dread that no one knows about what happened there and the history, the people and their sacrifices, the war and all.... The relationship of pain between eren and Mikasa amounts to nothing in the end. It's all gone and forgotten. The entirety of AOT and mikasas love for eren is lost. It just upsets me. I don't care about anime or aot but this scene made me really sad
@@imviotim We all know as the story goes on, Mikasa cut her hair shorter and shorter. This is further confrim Eren just wake up from the future memories.
Fun fact: "See you later, Eren" that Eren child saw in his dream in chapter 1 was actually the events happened when Mikasa saying good bye to him in chapter 138. Isayama sensei already confirmed that that was in the path not another timeline, and we knew that Attack Titan can pass memory from current holder to their predecessor. So, it is safely stated that Eren 10 yo saw his future memory. But, at that time, he didn't inherit Titan power from his dad yet, so why did Eren could dream that? There is no official confirmation but it is highly possible due to Isayama sensei wrongly put the chronological of "See you later, Eren" in manga. That's why, in anime S1 Ep 1, WIT removed it and replaced it with original scenes and "See you later, Eren" scene was shown in Final season. Well, all important events from Eren's dream, Colossal Titan destroyed the wall, the murder of Reiss family, Eren manipulated his dad from path, until Eren inherited Attack Titan power, happened at the same day, so it was not weird if Isayama sensei who at that time was still amateur mangaka did a mistake.

Indeed
The way mikasa reaches for eren is such an awsome moment of foreshadowing
Why?
It's so sad that everything was destined since the first scene, and seeing the las one in the final episode real ties it all up together. Eren was never free
Neat storytelling tho
@@Noctizsattack titan is eren. all the previous attack titans move forward to 1 singular goal: get to eren. from there, its true goal starts: the rumbling, which is something eren must do. its true eren couldve just walked away but thats not the kind of person eren is. and eren didnt start the rumbling becuz he wanted to kill people or that he was mad with power, he did it for his friends and thats why he half assed it
I will always be amazed of this time loop shit, i'm now thinking isayama might had created the ending first in his mind before creating the beginning.
He had the basic structure planned from the very beggining. He knew what he wanted to do, retconed a little bit here and there, added some characters and events, but the story is in it's purest form, the same.
@@yuzmanito I think this is how every series should strive for... Think of how to end the series instead of how to begin it, that way the series plot wouldn't have the same cliche intro and then go all over the place before it ended
He did said in interviews that he wrote AoT with the ending first and ends with the beginning, that way he would never left out any major plot holes, everything came together before he even placed his pen on the drawing board for the manga. Respect to the man, he wrote one of the best piece of modern fiction series of all time and he didn’t capitalize on any of it, he told the story he wanted and finished it unlike many other series that never seems to stop like One Piece, Detective Conan or slice of life so they could keep pumping out more chapters to make money.

An interesting difference between MAPPA and WIT is that WIT's director has the characters move more (Eren touching his face when he realizes he was crying). It also might be due to time constraints but subtle movements like that add more towards the scene and make the characters feel more alive.

So, yeah, that’s one of the reasons why I love attack on Titan so much ❤️
Heart touching 😢
I think her dream or imagining actually did happen tho, I think Eren simulated a sort of what would happen scenario in the paths and in that infinite time in the paths they were able to spend those last 4 years of Eren's life together and then somehow she forgot about it, maybe because Ymir was in her head and had something to do with it, not quite clear why she remembers it at the end or how she ever forgot about it because the Founding Titan power of erasing memories shouldn't work on the Ackerman's bloodline.

@@tarinikumar6523 He is protagonist, no matter where is his moral standing, the protagonist simply means the central character of a fiction work, the story was told from their perspective. The antagonist simply means the opposition of the protagonist, if the protagonist tried to destroy the world, the antagonist would be the one who tried to stop them from doing so. In AoT case, the antagonist started with the Titans and Marleyan and it ends with Eren's own friends.

The number 140 means: Freedom
And freedom has never been and will never be, therefore there is no 140th chapter
And this is only a small part of all the symbolism in this work
Pretty cool. I've never thought it would be a symbolism for specific numbers such as 139 and 140, tho i knew the number 13 can represent concepts like good or bad luck.
dont forget that 13th in tarot is death, and also symbolizes death of cycle and change

What if we get a different ending in the anime? 😳 that would be dope but people would still complain about which ending is the true ending.

@@imviotim We all know as the story goes on, Mikasa cut her hair shorter and shorter. This is further confrim Eren just wake up from the future memories.
@@kien9350if you believe the 3 timelines theory then it would be a past memory from eren
