As a lifelong fan of Lou and the Velvets it has always been a lasting regret that I never got to see Lou play on his home turf. Your video really brings a new life and meaning to all those places that I have heard of but never seen. Thank you.
You're very welcome. When I saw him at the Beacon Theater, I said, "Well, that's it. My life has peaked. What could be better than seeing Lou in NYC." As Laurie Anderson said, as long as people keep talking about you, you're still alive, so this was my contribution. And Lou's music and that of the Velvets is timeless, has not faded with age one bit.
Really nice video. Thanks for putting it together. Was really enjoyable to watch and listen to, even as a 30 year resident of NYC familiar with all of the locales.
1991 Maureen Tucker performed with Half Japanese in Hildesheim, Germany - in the same year I saw Jad Fair (Half Japanese) in Hameln in the "Sumpfblume" - one year later Lou Reed played in Hamburg - all this was the Dawning from the Reunion of the velvet underground - which I have the pleasure to see them in 1993 in Hamburg at the Alsterdorfer Sporthalle. And why? While I did read about it 1991 in the german Magazin "SPIEGEL", when I was sitting in the waiting room of my doctor in Hameln with influence - during this time I`ve heard "white light, white heat", bought in a Record-shop in Hameln... this is a part of my story of V:U:. thank you all - the beatgoesonandonandonandon.
I could listen to you forever. Again you’re so good at telling someone’s story. It’s perfect. Good job!!! Very good job. Got one more part to check out. I accidentally watched part 2 before 1 but it’s ok. 😊😊
Aww, thanks Diane!!! When I watch my own stuff I like my voice, then I don't, then I do again. But it's like a popular vlogger I watch, Indigo Traveler (Nick Fisher), once said, when you do it, the more you do it, you can't help but get better.
Bill King it’s already great for sure and yes. It will be even better. I’ll be here to watch all your vids. Even though I get a little behind sometimes.
Lovely quiet video reaching for ghosts still close in time but slipping away. I am myself still haunted by eye contact with Nico in my youth. I didn’t know it was her in the moment. The full story will be in my memoirs eh...
28:00 I saw Bob Marley at the Beacon Theater. 76? Who else was there? it's on tape and easily found! And BEFORE it was the RITZ-it was... Webster Hall- A Communist hangout so it was Perfect that Clinton threw a big party here!-- While it was the RITZ,-I saw many great shows here! search Julian cope live at the Ritz to see the best show ever here. -an MTV production before they started SUCKING! This same street was where the nutty Weather Underground-Obama's heroes! blew up a whole building-their rich daddy's bldg of course-not their own-Dustin Hoffman lived next door. DUMBO = Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.
Cool. I learned recently that the woman who was one of the Weather Underground who blew themselves up was from a small town in Illinois that was in my high school's conference, although she graduated earlier. Everybody comes from somewhere but I thought that was a very unlikely place for her.

This is great 👍, thank you so much for your passion. Best watch in a long time.
Saying "The Velvet Underground & Lou Reed" is like saying "Fruit & Strawberries."
Not when Lou Reed had his own history in NYC subsequent to The Velvet Underground.
@@TTM9691 That's just absurd. Nobody refers to "John Lennon and the Beatles."
Lol! Yep

Thank you so much for posting this!
Rest In Peace Mister Lou Reed. We are thinking about You. ❤️

Was very nice of you to say. Glad you enjoyed.

Velvets played at BAM at an opening night party for Merce Cunningham Dance Company in 1969.
@@LouieFleck Wow. Cool. Thanks.
Fantastic video!
The greatest music 🎶
Awesome!

@@BillKing3456 you said they played on 80s and 90s late night tv...
Right after that you say they broke up in "70
Anything off about that?
I want more of this stuff! 👍🏻
Cool.

Awesome band.
It's The Velvet Underground. Lou Reed was a member of the group. They were not his group.
Havel was the former Czech Republic President. Czechoslovakia was no more, that’s why he was President!
Yeah, he was the last president of Czechoslovakia from 1989-92, then the first president of the Czech Republic from 1993-2003.
@@BillKing3456 you’re right, I forgot about that! Mea culpa.
Snl and Letterman?
I should have differentiated between Lou and the VU. Yeah, it was only Lou.
@@BillKing3456 Roger that I should gave figured that out. Vid is good to go man and appreciate you posting.
@@BillKing3456 I thought you were making dry jokes about the Velvets playing MSG, Carnegie Hall, etc
