Comprei este álbum em vinil na década de 80 e até hoje não me canso de ouvir intemporal, Mr.Lou Reed deixou uma obra prima de músicas com muita qualidade. Descansa em paz. Cláudio (Sabrosa).
Doesn’t get much better than this. Phenomenal band and Lou at the top of his game. Incidentally, the title of this video is rather misleading. It is not the full album. After the final number performed here, namely Hold On, there are four more tracks on the album. Good Evening Mr.Waldheim, Xmas In February, Strawman and Dime Store Mystery. Weather Lou and the band carried on and played those last four numbers or not, we may never know. Only the people in the audience that night could tell us that.
I lived in NYC in 89/90 for some months and loved New York. Bought the CD when it came out. Copied it on cassette and listened to the tape over and over on my yellow Sony Walkman while riding the subway or crossing Manhatten by foot. Very personal memories though I missed Lou performing live but saw Richie Havens and Joan Baez playing live in Central Park. Great time. What an awesome album. Blue man group just started out at Astor Theatre then, Cafe Wah was still hip...
I've loved his "Take a Walk on the Wild side" ever since it came out on FM radio" and today is the 1st time I've listened and watched this incredible concert and lm 68!
This is a giant piece of f****** art! A gift to the world & extra special present to New York. It feels like 100 yrs ago ,but seems like last weeklscan't believe I waited in a line to buy this album the day it came out (Lou was popular in New Orleans & there was some hype on this one) I remember rushing home unwrapping & cleaning the deep fresh grooves with my Discwasher & carefully letting the arm down, hearing the stylus thread in as I sat back to look at the cover art & read the liner notes & instantaneously being transformed to New York for 45 minites. Then doing all again. as one of the most
Can't believe I'm still just as in love with this album as ever! Sweet Lou at his very peak & the band deep in the sweet spot. New York has to rank with the best rocknroll albums all time. But it is probably the most fully completely perfectly made album ever. Every song is solid, several are great & 2 or 3are really special! Song order is perfect, run time of every tune is
Spot on, Eno & Lou's production work is impeccable etc. It's all just absolutely perfect! Great albums stand the test of time & Lou Reed can be very proud of how well this work has held up. Dirty Blvd. was written & performed to perfection for the time & space it was created in, but it sounds almost just as on point today & still could in another decade. My favorite cut has always been "There is no time" it just rocks ass but the damndest thing of all is if I close my eyes to listen to it now, 40 plus years later & you were to tell me it just dropped last week, I'd believe you 100! Surely this song was written for this very moment in time, after the rough couple of years us lucky ones have lived through & still more seemingly treacherous times with hard, monumental & potentially dangerous choices ahead? There is no time is the damn theme song for April 1 2022!!! I am glad that Lou didn't have to see all of it though...
Damn. Had this cassette in 1990 and sadly one of those that got lost along the way when CDs were coming out. I forgot how many great songs are on this set-No Time-amazing. Last Great American whale...Superb! RIP Lou. Got to buy the new remastered release asap.
@@danielandforok That's so cool because there is so much to explore... I don't know if you know his 'Berlin' album/CD but it 's really powerful when you are in melancholy mood. It's a concept piece and tells a very interesting story... Thanks for messaging back! Enjoy!
Borrowed my friend's tape of this album in 89 and I listened to it over and over. It was the first CD I bought and then saw him live in Berkeley. Amazing concert!! Love and miss this master of punk and rock. No one else like him!
What an incredible backing band. Totally in sync in that disconnected Lou way. Special talent to be able to adjust like that. The drummer rules the world.

In the blistering summer of '89 I'd sit on my fire escape in the hazy nights above a dirty Blvd listening to this tape on my Walkman. Can't thank you enough for this upload, brought back so many memories of my life as a young man in NYC.
Rob Wasserman was a seriously wicked virtuoso. The way he is able to bend notes like that and pkay so high with such expression is a joyto hear. From John Cale to Prakash John and Fernando Saunders, Lou has always had the best, most creative bass players. Joel
It is a display of music, words, Lou Reed was the one just right, his songs expressed an age, it defines those cool art times, it expressed reality in a special way

Saw Lou do this live at the St. Augustine, FL tour stop. Thanks to my buddy Chuck for turning me on to this album and a lot of other great music. Love ya' buddy!
I don't care what other people say about Lou. That he was hostile, or that his music was too mediocre. I value his honesty. I value the fact that he showed his discontent with life. The guy really laid the groundwork for what alternative rock is all about.

One of Lou's best albums...epic
Me too. Wore that cassette out, then later bought the CD.
Bowie called him the King of New York that'll do for me L.O.U x
A masterpiece.Thank you Lou.Miss you😢
I was watching this video, and decided to scroll down so I could comment "Absolute masterpiece!" - And the first comment was yours - spot on!
This album is one of the best of Lou, and how he played it in live was absolutely createve and fresh.

I saw Lou perform the New York album at the Cincinnati Music Hall in 1988 and it was by far the best concert I ever attended.

Unbelievably transcendent, the great Lou Reed !!!!!!!
I did see Lou Reed for the first time in Amsterdam, 1972, the last time
in 2007, also in Amsterdam, the Berlin tour. I do miss him still.

Good one! And thanks for the new word - sure beats the original!
One of Reed's best records! Not a bum song on it. I believe this is where he achieved his goal of making a great novel via a rock n roll record.
Oh totally❤... Not only this. But yea it's quite that. Makes it even more... Gripping gritting gutwrenching epic and powerful
Is there some comment missing here or something? Or it's just me that cant quite recollect the context xD 🤔
