LA Union Station & Eerie Downtown LA

A walk-through of LA's iconic Union Station and then a roughly east-to-west walk across desolate downtown LA to my hotel. Thanks for this Chris! I grew up in Ottawa in the 60s through the early eighties. Some things have changed, many still the same. I live on the West coast now and don't get back there very often. It's great to see those streets i used to ride my bicycle on, all over that town. The world is a big place, and I've lived in Massachusetts, Florida, Tennessee, Germany and Nevada. But Ottawa is where i got my start. Born in Ryburn hospital, directly across the street from Washington park (there's a bank there now.) My roots are in that town, but up in the branches the views are endless and more to my liking.

I did fuel tank inspections and did the Casey's gas stations in all of these towns every month. Left that job about 6 months ago and miss it dearly. Always loved driving up and down that river road. Nice to see parts of the towns that I didn't get to see. That was my hard week, left from Clinton Iowa and went all the way down to Troy Missouri and back up and around Illinois and back up to Clinton doing all those Casey's and Cricke K's plus the Sam's Club in Quincy. Usually managed to get it done in 3 very long days just to avoid extra hotel nights! Not much time for exploring but I remember stopping at the Jail in Carthage and getting some photos. Thanks for the adventure!

They moved that original Danbury Depot Train station. From where TrackSide is currently. I believe the historical society as well as quite a few donors saved it from being torn down so they could build now Current Trackside Bar and Restaurant. And yes they still run freight on those tracks.

The historic distict you showed is larger than you think drive around a bit. You should see the new "suburbs."
