I enjoy you using the old cameras proving there is still some life on the old boys yet. Now you have made me want to buy the G10, you bastard.
Haha, I cannot be held responsible for your retail impulses 😂
@@DavidFlowerOfficial ha ha.
I love this camera. There's so much control in the custom color. I found a sweet spot and use the JPGS straight out of camera for instagram. Great video!
Thanks very much🖖
amazing pictures 👏👏👏
Thanks very much 🖖
Another great video David, I have a G10 on it's way, long live old tech!
Oh, I hope you have as much fun with it as I've had with mine. Thanks for watching 🖖
I am sure I will, keep up the great work
your videos about canon g10 made me buy an old g10, its on the way here from Japan shipping to Philippines, i hope i get a very good condition camera, im excited to play with it, im not profesional or knowledgeble about camera settings, im still learning, taking photos and videos is kinda my outdoor and indoor hobby, i dont go outside much tho but when i do i always have camera with me aside from my smartphone
thanks for the feature!
Keep it up 👏👏👏
No need to worry about settings on the G10. In good light just set it to P mode and iso at 80 and have fun👍
Thanks for watching 🖖
UR Bresson of Hull !
Excellent video Dave! It really was a fantastic day 👍
Cheers Mike. Aye it was class. Looking forward to the next one 🖖
@@DavidFlowerOfficial yeah same here, should be back to normal weather soon 😁
I hope so, I'm currently a melted mess😂
Cracking photographs, thanks for sharing them. I can see the price of G10's going up!
Thank you 🙏
I've been looking at a lot of older compacts recently and have seen the prices creeping up, but there are still some bargains to be had. I think the G10 is getting a bit of attention given its relatively high mpx.
Thanks for watching 🖖
Brilliant shots, weird seeing Bridlington in a POV 😅 lived there for 10yrs, now moved further up the coast to scarbados.
Thanks very much. I'm hoping to get up to Scarborough and Whitby before the summer ends to shoot povs there.
Have a good one 🖖
@@DavidFlowerOfficial sounds great, look forward to those. I've been thinking of filming one around southcliff in Scarborough.
Yeah go for it. If nothing else they're fun to shoot👍
I love that ferris wheel shot near the beginning and also the harbour shot at 2:38 - I really should shoot more B&W - or at least thing in B&W when I shoot and convert it later. Really impressed with that G10. One day I'll finish the B&W film in my Zeiss Contaflex - that'll be interesting to see how bad I've become after years of digital only!!!!
Cheers, Tim. I haven't shot a roll of film in a few years so I reckon I'd be shocking lol
Given the price of film + processing I think I'll just stick with digital 😁
@@DavidFlowerOfficial Yeah, the price of the processing is a bit alarming - I can live with the film cost because at the current rate I'll only need one roll every 3 years or so...
@@GrumpyTim Haha yeah, I think I'll skip film and build a collection of cool digicams from the early days of digital and call it retro🖖😁
Awesome shots! I think I need a G10 ! Thanks for the feature 🖖🏻
Thanks Alex. I doubt it'll compare to your 5D classic, but it's a lot of fun. Have a good one mate 🖖
@@DavidFlowerOfficial i guess so 😂
Hi David soon i gonna buy this little ,its possible you make a video on what settings u use and all for street?thanks
No need to make a video as it's super simple. Program mode at base iso(80) with exposure comp set to -1/3 or -2/3 depending on how harsh the light is. If you're shooting jpeg I'd recommend setting the wb manually as it's a bit off at times, but if you're shooting raw, auto wb is fine since you can tweak it later 🖖
@@DavidFlowerOfficial thanks for the help 👌
4:50 convinced me.
Thanks for watching 🖖
Hey David
I have request for you, can you do low light street photography with mft sensor 🙏🏻 i have read and watch a lot of video that apsc is way more good with low light condition over the mft but i know it depend on the user.i also know that the mft is not that bad on low light, i just very struggled to get my first camera between a6000 and Lumix GX85
Or can i have some suggest?🙏🏻
I really apreciate it 🙏🏻
Shooting in low light at useable iso levels on any camera requires a fast lens if you intend to shoot hand held. On my FF and apsc cameras I always use at least an f2.8 lens. I don't have a fast lens for micro 4/3 yet, but I'm gonna buy an adapter for my vintage lenses so I'll be able to see how it performs with those. Stay tuned🖖😁
Amazing photos, could you tell me what's your editing process? Do you use presets? If so, which ones? Thanks!
Editing is quite simple really. I shoot raw and use my own presets from the free pack linked in the description. I often use the Clearly Autumn preset in Lightroom, dial it back to about 60% and then fine tune from there depending on what the image needs. Thanks for watching 🖖
@@DavidFlowerOfficial thanks for the response 🙌🏻 will check on those presets
The G10 looks really nice, I wondered if you have tried a Nikon D3000 (last Nikon DSLR with CCD sensor).
If you have, how do you think it compare with G10?
I actually owned the D3000 before I made the channel but sold it on as it wasn’t getting much use.
One thing I do remember is that I preferred the images from the d70 over the d3000. Perhaps the lower resolution resulted in a look I liked more, I’m not sure. Without digging through my hard drives I couldn’t say how it would compare with the G10🖖
@@DavidFlowerOfficial that was a pity if it wasn't as good.
There is an almost new in box asking for chips where D70, D80 usually ask for more in much worse condition.
@@wckoek The d3000 isn’t a bad camera, I just preferred the look from the lower res sensor of the d70. If the price is good, the d3000 is definitely worth considering 👍
are that photos some post edited ? Thanks
Yes. All shot raw and edited. Most of the colour ones used my Clearly Autumn preset as a base. It’s free in the description if you’re interested 🖖
Hi, I just got a canon g10 from the thrift store that doesn’t have a battery so I bought one at Amazon but not even 15mins of using it the camera battery is red and tells me it’s empty but when I turn it off for 15 mins or so it's 3 lines and after 5 mins it shows red in battery sign and has 1 line, does it mean the camera is broken?
I’m not sure exactly, but I’ve heard of the Amazon batteries not being great and in my experience they never last as long as the originals. 15 mins sounds like a very short time to drain a battery and even the worst 3rd party batteries I’ve used will still give about 50% of the performance of the original.
My advice would be to try and borrow a canon battery to test it or look out for a used original one from somewhere reputable before writing off the camera🖖
Would you recommend the G10 for sports photography?
Not really, the images are really nice, but it has no burst rate to speak of, iso performance is what you’d expect from a camera with a tiny sensor and it has quite a limited zoom range of 28-140mm equivalent.
@@DavidFlowerOfficial that’s good to know, thank you.
You’re welcome. If you want a camera of this kind with a longer zoom and better burst mode, perhaps look at some of the bridge cameras or the newer compacts that are out there. Take it easy🖖
Do you use manual focus or is it digital?
With the G10 I keep it super simple now I know what to expect from the camera. Program mode with the iso set at base (80) and exposure comp set to -1/3 or -2/3 depending on how harsh the light is. Everything else is auto in terms of focus, exposure and white balance although if you're not shooting Raw, I'd suggest dialing wb in manually as it's a bit hit and miss at times🖖
@@DavidFlowerOfficial
Niceness man.
That looks fantastic for a point and shoot.
Less fiddling so more focus on the action.
Did you end up deleting a shed load of pictures?.
I had a way better hit rate on this particular shoot keeping about 40% of the images, but I ended the video as soon as I knew I had plenty of footage so there more than 100 images that didn't have accompanying footage including the ones in the end slideshow 👍
@@DavidFlowerOfficial Thanks for your honesty. Looks like you had fun and the results were worth the time.
I have a G10. It's okay, but frankly a modern mid-range smartphone has a better camera now. Or maybe I'm just not skilled enough to utilize the G10 to it's full potential
I have a Google pixel and beyond its capability in astro mode to capture clean images in the dark because the computational tech, image quality doesn't come close to the G10 when shooting Raw. The phone images are always over sharpened and even with multiple lenses they can't compete with the optical zoom. The G10 is far from the best camera ever, but I'd always take it over a phone. Thanks for watching 🖖
@@DavidFlowerOfficial So, I tried out the G10 today, at an afternoon at the park. I will say, it takes nice casual photos of people, and the color reproduction is rich. I haven't tried RAW. I'm quite amateur, and tend to leave it all in Auto mode, or occasionally try one of the SCN modes.
