Hi Elle! I just wanted to say I appreciate your respectful and gentle approach to taming birds. I grew up with many birds, my parents were parrot breeders. We had a huge converted garage and patio that were walk-in aviaries. We did our best to honor and take exceptional care for our birds. I hate to see birds in pet stores that are sold with very little thought in the birds needs or considering their very long life spans! Anyhow, I just got a parrotlet after wanting one for years but I was feeling rusty. I haven’t had a bird for close to ten years. I am working to hand tame my bird and I saw SO many videos that encourage what I call the “struggle snuggle” which is forcing the bird into your hand to essentially teach them helplessness. Our birds were all very well socialized when I was a kid so having an unsocialized bird is new territory for me! Forcing my affection on a scared animal felt so counter intuitive and disrespectful so I appreciate your advice and approach! I am a teacher and teach children consent every day. As a strong believer in giving animals and humans free will and respect, I couldn’t condone the use of force to tame my bird. Anyway, long story short, I appreciate your advice!
That technique sounds incredibly cruel, and can cause fears and phobias of hands later in life. Unfortunately, there's a lot of sketchy taming "advice" out there. A big cage, lots of toys, natural perches, metal food and water bowl, play with he/she as much as you can. Don’t yell at he/she they’ll become either scared or aggressive. Good luck 😊
For starting birds I would recommend a cockatiel or budgie! (Parrotlets are good too but they bite hard and scream loud and are very clingy aka no alone time...

@@lizziehn5928 it’s usually not hot in our country.. But he died today..
I was sleeping and i heard him making a noise like he was choking on something..
Then he fell ;( I guess i will have to get a new bird for snow because she hasn’t realised yet...
My birds love the bird kabob and foraging toys you mentioned. I'll defenitly be checking out Planet Pleasure's toys, thanks for the recommendations! 👍
My lovebird loves the boing perch from Planet Pleasures, and there's not the risk of getting caught like with nylon because it's seagrass or a similar material
I have a baby cockatiel that I don't currently have in my house but i own. I have spent over 6 months of researching to get to this point. You are the person that helped me realize how amazing birds are. I used to think i could just get a small table top cage with dowel perches and a set of 5 toys that were all plastic and not good at all. You helped me realize that they need a good life. You are an amazing bird mom, I love your channel! I also wanted to ask what you use to edit because I want to start a youtube channel for birds.
Hey Elle how are you. I brought two cockateils 1 week ago so can you pls tell how much size does my cage should be for two cockateils pls.
Ive heard it should at least be double their wingspan for *one* tiel, but this is very much on the small side. The bigger the cage, the better.
I think so 32 × 25×11
The biggest you can find and afford
MY BUDIES LOVED THEM. THANK YOU!!
Yesterday I bought 4 budgies and their name is blossom, picasso, sky, millo and they are very cute and colors are very beautiful
i have watched this video so much times to get all of your amazing information
Wait what 0 views 6 comments and 55 likes??????
Ok youtube is broken 0_0
The system that youtube measures views is quite delayed compared to likes or anything else
It has always been like this nothing new

I am a new bird owner so ty for the help!
This video was so helpful! I am going to try out the aviator harness because I was wondering which one I should get for my budgies. Also, I will try to get the box forager toy. I'll let you know how it went once I get it!
what size did you get?
Thank u so much Elle! I getting a budgie to my b-day thank u!!
My family is considering getting a bird and I’ve been binge watching a ton of your videos and they’re all super informative! Thanks for doing what you do
So..dis you end up getting a birb??
@@pangolin-o3s I did not end up getting a bird. Many things in our house that are not bird safe such as non stick pans and air fresheners.
@@violetviverson8340 glad you took care of that instead of just impulse buying a bird like most people do!
I just recently became a bird owner and I find your videos very entertaining and useful!!
Hi I just wanted to say that I’m gonna be getting a bird soon and I’m gonna be a little new so I’m gonna need some tips so I actually subscribed to you and liked a lot of ur vids and now ur my fav UA-cam keep all the good work!

My mom had a lot of birds as a kid and I’ve been wanting one for like... FOREVER. So I used your channel and other things to educate myself and I’m getting a green cheeked conure or cockatiel for Christmas!!! I’m so excited and I just wanted to thank you because without you I would be so uneducated! I love birds and I will spend so much time with my bird! Thank you so so so much!
Thanks so much for the amazon list! I was scared to get anything outside of my local bird store out of fear of buying something that could be toxic etc.
Thank you for making videos I love them and they improve bird owners and birds lives so much!
Hi Elle. I’m a huge fan of your channel. Your birds are sooo cute and your the best bird mom in the world. Your channel has helped me so much. I’m going to be getting a hand fed budgie in a few weeks. Thanks you so much!!! It would mean the world to me to meet you but I live in California. I would love to meet all of your awesome birds.
Update! I got my budgie and I named him scruffy!!!!!!

Congratulations on reaching 100k+ subs you totally deserve it!❤️ I remember when you started your youtube channel around 1 years ago you were a small channel with not that many subscribers and now you have grown so much and have also improved a lot( Editing, video quality, etc). Yayyy new video, I love your birds and you ❤. Your amazing 👏
I’m early... which happens almost never 😂 Hey Elle! 😁
I have two beautiful budgies! I have had 3 others in the past they have died from old age and one from a sickness. My 2 new birds I love so much! You have been helping me give my birds a better, healthier and best life I can. Sadly, I’m not aloud for some reason to spend to much money on perches and toys bc I still live with my parents. Could you possibly do any videos with DIY perches and DIY toys…? Thank you❤️
3:28 does anyone see Kermit stealing food from violets cage in the background
Kermit me like: 👁👄👁
I just found out about your channel about a week and a half ago and have already watched sooooo many videos! Love all the tips and tricks! Thank you!❤️
Hey Elle, I don’t know if you recognise me but we’ve interacted a couple of times in your comment section. My budgie moon passed away 12 days ago, I want to thank you for helping me make sure he had a good life and was taken care of.
I’m so so sorry for your loss 💔 fly free little moon 💕
I lost my bird named Luna 😔
@@CP-wt7bc hey I’ll be alright, I know it’s hard but be strong, I’m here if you want to talk, I know how you feel.
i just birds a few days ago and this really helped me to pick out what i should get for my 2 budgies
I couldn't live without u posting
Roses are red skies are blue I love your birds along with you!
I actually make my own bird safe cleaning spray with 1/2 vinegar, 1/2 water, and some lemon juice to make it smell better. It dissolves the bird waste pretty well!
Yep, I use that too, but you could lessen the vinegar just a bit so you don’t have to use that much
Stay safe Elle and your birds too ☺️
Hi! I’m getting a green cheek conure really soon and I was wondering if anyone had any tips
I’ve reaserched for almost a year and I have picked out a couple breeders.
The reason I’m not rescuing is because this is my first time owning a bird and that’s just to much rn
Edit: I have a huge play top 24” by 34” by 38” inches big
Seems like you've done a lot of research! If I had to suggest anything, it would be to find good, knowledgeable bird communities in case you need tips on something. Best of luck to you and your bird :)
I had come across your channel whilst looking for videos to train my new budgie when I get one very soon, these videos are going to be so much help! I got a budgie as my grandad has recently passed away so I'm having a budgie to look after to take my mind off stuff as they're amazing animals!
I’m getting a bird officially do you have any recommendations for starting out?
A big cage, lots of toys, natural perches, metal food and water bowl, play with he/she as much as you can. Don’t yell at he/she they’ll become either scared or aggressive. Good luck 😊
@@bmgant36 thank you for the advice!
For starting birds I would recommend a cockatiel or budgie! (Parrotlets are good too but they bite hard and scream loud and are very clingy aka no alone time...
Hey guys I'm planning on getting a cockatiel soon.. The thing is I have some succulents (echeveria) and I was wondering if they are safe for my birds. I was planning on bird proofing my room so my bird could fly around and I have a lot of plants (they are all bird safe) but I can't find any solid answer on whether echeveria are safe near birds or not?? So could any of you please answer?😊
@@vasantharamanan maybe put them in another room if they aren’t safe
Its it me or I’m a fan of this girl she amazing pretty and always help me out with my birds
Aww Kermy bird looks so cute 🥰
Question: How did you get Ducky to bow his head for scritches?
Most cockatiel bow down to get scritches they learn that to do that by themselves
they do it their selfs lol
@@bababansheebaba8742
Would a cockatiel bow to get scritches if they’ve never been scritched before? (When I try to scritch my cockatiel it lunges at me because it doesn’t know what im doing)
They learn how to bow on there own... usually when you put your hand by there head
My cockatiel loves my hand but when I go to scritch him.. he BITES.. he only wants my budgies to scratch his head
Thank you I watched you a whole lot about bird care I now have parakeets
Elle: The bird play stand is cheap and affordable !!

Hi so I have a really important question I’m trying to tame my bird but she just won’t step on my hand with treats and everything what should I do?
It depends on how much time you have kept your bird.
If it's new then you should just give him or her some time to get used to you
@@andreagonzalez3405 she’s kinda new but she’s had time to settle in she had a owner in the past for 7 months then I bought her and I’ve had her for 3 weeks
