    If you learn anything from this, realise that the Vitamin D recommendations are "super conservative" and the risks are vastly overstated.
    I believe Dr Vieth has challenged anyone to come forward with toxic effects at up to 10,000 units and nobody has.
    I take a dose of 5,000 iu per day (and get what sunshine I can in England!)
    Perfectly safe and desirable.

    • @GravityThree3
      @GravityThree3 8 років тому +1

      +Robert Clayton Your statement is retarded because he also said that there are other factors that increase your Vitamin D units like the UV rays from the sunshine , foods and genetics. Just because you take 5000 IU per day it doesn't mean you're perfectly safe from overdosing in the long run. Especially during the summer if you go out a lot whilst your taking your vitamin supplement you're gonna accumulate a ton of UI's for the 2 months that it stays in your system. If it was so simple to explain why do you think the lecture was 30 minutes and not 1 sentence?

    • @chipesh
      @chipesh 8 років тому +28

      +glAre Diet contributes very little. The skin self regulates D production.
      Did you hear the "and the dosage that can cause that ( the problems) start off at a minimum of 46,000 units a day"
      Yes it was more than one sentence but it seems you didn't listen to much of it.
      5,000 iu a day will move a good percentage of people into the desirable >40 ng/ml range, especially in climates like the UK.
      Using words like "retarded" to describe others comments doesn't enhance your arguments.

    • @GravityThree3
      @GravityThree3 8 років тому

      +Robert Clayton he also said that they did a study in the UK where they gave 100 000 units every 4 months, which totals 300 000 annually which comes roughly 820 units daily, are you seriously saying that 5000 units every day for the whole year is healthy , go do that no one will stop you but you'll increase your fracture risk.Instead of trying to be iron man you'll be glass man or prostate cancer man. I guess my question that wasn’t answered was why fluctuating levels causes issues? Not what blood levels are optimal? Of course this talk was 10 years ago. Clearly a very thorough presentation. I believe having blood plasma levels in the 100-140 ng/ml is optimal as I wrote in my book. Also taking as much magnesium as possible is important as magnesium and vitamin D3 are tied together. Taking large doses of vitamin D3 will quickly use up the body’s magnesium and that may be the issue! As like vitamin D3 magnesium are deficient in a large number of people. So you give large bolus of vitamin D3 you sure to deplete their magnesium. So is magnesium deficiency the reason for this u shaped curve?

    Vitamin D3 supplementation up to 5000 IUs a day is very safe. As Professor Vieth MD PhD says in the very beginning of the video; from an anthropological biological perspective, our ancestors absorbed on average 10,000 IUs per day.
    Far better to get a D3 supplement in High Latitudes for at least 3 of our 4 seasons; as apposed to the growing evidence of Vitamin D deficiency body dysfunction, and disease in a worst case.

    Hypothesis: The U-Shaped risk-curve in prostate cancer can be accounted for by supplementation of artificial Vitamin E. People who supplement vD at higher levels are much more likely to supplement with other vitamins (ie vE - which is implicated in prostate cancer risk (when looking at the artificial form)).

    I am not a Doctor and have had no formal medical training. This is what I know and my conclusions from well over 5000 hours of doing my own research on vitamin D and supplements. Most Doctors are not that smart when it comes to vitamins or supplements and most of them got less than 4 hours of training on that subject in med school but they are very smart people and the smart ones have like me done there own research. Im in Canada and getting vitamin D from the sun is hard to do. I believe almost any illness even Cancer can be cured ( lets not say cured lets say you can get rid of all symptoms) and or prevented by taking vitamins and supplements. The secret is your PH level. If your PH level is 6.75 to 7.75 your immune system is working the way it should and you are very healthy. I use vitamin D3 ( I wont say how much) AS WELL AS 1200 MGS OF CALCIUM WITH 600 MGS OF MAGNESSIUM. I do other things as well to raise my PH but I will leave that out. Most people have a low Vitamin D level and if your PH is 7.0 or higher your Vitamin D level is fine and there is no need to get your vitamin D level checked and by the way that test is not covered by OHIP. I wonder why? Health Canada says 1000 units of vitamin D3 should be your maximum dose and in fact you cannot buy it in Canada if you want a stronger dose. If you wanted to take 30,000 units of D3 a day you will spend a lot of money and most people will not be able to tolerate it because of the fillers in that many capsules and it will be very costly. You need the D3 so you can absorb Calcium and magnesium. Thanks to modern farming you would have to eat a truckload of veggies to get enough Calcium and Magnesium that way so you will need a supplement like say 1200 mgs of Calcium with 600 mgs of magnesium. That ratio of 2 to 1 is VERY IMPORTANT. Health Canada reduced the amount of vitamin D one should take some time ago based on studies and I read all those studies and they where done with low levels of vitamin D and even in there studies they said the results were inconclusive. Drug companies wont do research on vitamins when they cant make money on it so who will? Makes me wonder why they reduced the amount when the US can take much higher amounts of D3. Kind of makes you wonder how that got changed here in Canada dosnt it? OHIP does not pay for a vitamin D test. Wonder why that is?
    Doctors say skin Cancer is caused by the sun. If that is the case then why is it Michigan was the number one state per capita when it came to skin Cancer and not Florida or Nevada when I did my research?. I think the sun may trigger skin Cancer but its cause is mainly from a low vitamin D level or a low PH which is basically the same thing. Dark skinned people die 6.8 years sooner than whites on average . Do you think that is because they cannot absorb the vitamin D as easily as whites?
    In around 1945 the drug companies came out with three drugs Dalsol, Delatin and Drisdol and Doctors prescribed 50,000 units a day of this drug and it had excellent study results when it came to almost any virus and Cancer. I believe it is easier to get rid of Cancer than some of the virus's. I had a virus for 40 years that I got rid of by getting my PH up to 8.0 or higher for three days and then let it drop to 6.5 for a few days and then getting it back to 8.0 or higher again for another few days. It wont be back. I try to keep my PH at 6.5 to 7.75 and check it with the PH strips every few weeks. I was diagnosed with CHF by at least 10 different Doctors 20 years ago and in the last 12 years have not had one case of congestive heart failure. CHF is not supposed to go away. How can that be? Did 10 different Doctors make a mistake? THIS IS WHAT I DID AND ALL I CAN SAY IS DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND. I am not a Doctor but what I did worked for me. OK thats it I have to go ice my typing finger. LOL! DO YOUR RESEARCH!

      @ronhammar1154 3 роки тому +4

      @@sunshinestate1306 A PH of 8.0 is fine but if you are taking supplements or vitamin D3 you might want to watch your levels. I have been over 8.0 for a few days and when I do go over I stop taking the d 3 and the supplements and let it go back down to around 7.5 . The danger of what Doctors call vitamin d toxicity as far as Im concerned is a joke. You say your vitamin d level is 27 ? If that is a hydroxy vitamin D test that is very low but it may be a different test that I am not aware of. Your hydroxy test should be 75 - 250. Mine was 226 which is very good but I no longer get my vitamin D checked because when my PH is 7.5 or higher my vitamin D level is where it should be. I dont know how you checked your PH but I buy PH paper at a health food store ( Drug stores dont sell it) and I put it on my moist tongue and it will turn color in about 10 seconds and I believe it is quite accurate. I always check it in the morning before I have anything to eat or drink . I only check my PH every couple weeks because I have it quite stable.

      +Ashraf Ali That seems really toxic... please be careful! Moderation is important.
      I had a deficiency for a long time and my doctor prescribed 10,000 IU to take once a week for 12 weeks. After those 12 weeks, I took 400 IU/day. This is much safer since the recommended daily dose is 400 IU. Also you should supplement it with calcium, vitamin K2, and magnesium for it to even be effective. I recommend asking your doctor for a gentler dose that you can take over a longer period of time (10,000 IU once a week for 12 weeks seems appropriate). You can't task your body so much at one time... things should be done gradually and very carefully. If you want to maintain a good balance for the rest of your life, be sure to eat a lot of salads (kale salad or spinach is good) and fruit on a daily basis in addition to the supplements and general multivitamins.

I very much doubt the specialist MD's would pull a number from the air, so there must be protocols/studies they're basing this dosing schedule on.

    I get a feeling of malaise after taking 800 IU for a few days that takes days to wear off. I'm light complected. I'm going with the theory that it's too much for me. That's orally. I would think a high dose injection would sicken me for months.

      Sunshine vitamin or steroid hormone was the most powerful medicine on every living things on earth given by our CREATOR. SUN EXPOSURE
      The best way to get vitamin D3 is through sun exposure. Go outside and get some sun, especially in the mid-day when it’s the strongest.
      However, many of us use sun block, which is good for our skin but not so helpful when it comes to the production of vitamin D3. By blocking out the UVA and UVB rays, sun block can interfere the skin’s ability to synthesize vitamin D3. GOD BLESS.

    Day 4 of 6-10,000iu’s and I become very nauseous, had headaches, nausea, tinnitus, dehydration and anxiety. Last I check my d level was 27.9, 4 months ago. It’s winter and for those 4 months I only supplemented with 2000iu tabs. I decided to switch to oil and increase the dose for only 4 days and clearly became toxic smh
    Oh I also increased my magnesium through food and kept track of how much I was getting and still became toxic. I will not ever take k2 cause it cause jaw enlargement even in adults .. so I’m going back to avoiding all this complicated supplementation because it made me sick
