I’d lived in Chicago for years, always low Vitamin D levels. Moved south, but levels didn’t rise much, though I was taking about 2000 in/day sporadically. Doc told me this was plenty. Because of these videos, I began taking D religiously. After about 3 months of this, I realized I was sleeping really well and much less depression. Doc confirmed normal range. When I went to get new supply, I realized I’d actually been taking 10,000 iu/day! That’s the dose it took, but no doc had taken me seriously. Thanks to these videos encouraging us to keep up levels!

Pretty terrible really. First he says the english don't have many fermented foods (the english cheesemakers beg to disagree). Secondly K1 is hardly needed as other aspects of the diet and body functions really overrule it. there is some conversion of K1 to K2 MK4, but it is ineffecient compared to taking k2 mk4 directly. He failed to research where K2 comes from in animals properly. It is essentially in all tissue, including the muscle at reasonably high levels.
What we ate as hunter gatherers is something up for discussion but I am not sure on his take. We consumed lots of fat so a lean animal we would avoid the leanest parts and just aim for the fattiest parts, dogs much less likely to suffer from 'rabbit starvation' (explorers died from eating lots of lean rabbits is where this comes from, gluconeogenesis can only process so much protein to energy ... we need fat for the bulk of our energy or at a push add some carbs) can be fed leaner parts of the animal including organs (this was reported in the book Fat of the Land). Organs on lean animals would also be lean so priority is fatty meats then on organs like liver etc especially for expectant mothers. The thing is the hunter gatherers would've managed plenty of K2 MK4 from fatty muscle meat alone.
He talked about fermenting foods on the savannah, nomadic tribes followed herds. It has only been the last 10,000 years that we have devolved from a nomadic lifestyle and developed agriculture which leads straight into what he said next which is about kimchi... it was unlikely to be around 30,000-40,000 years ago. Still in this 10,000 years or so peoples who have high fermented plant diets such as the Koreans and Okinawans also have higher rates of specific snips of genes that help process K2 MK7 (notice the difference to the historic animal-based one our ancestors consumed) to K2 Mk4 at a better rate than standard. Most people can convert some K2 MK7 to K2 MK4 but there is a substantial part of the population that cannot do so, they either don't absorb it at all or it remains in the blood building up toxicity levels. Do you know if you can process MK7? That is what those supplements are made of btw.
The foods highest in k2 mk4 are cheeses. Something quite dominant in western diets, another one of his misconceptions. Same with the leading killer being heart disease, this is only true if both sexes are included. Men heavily over represent the heart disease section while women are more likely to die in old age from dementia and related illnesses. The growth of dementia and related illnesses in mortality figures is most disconcerting. This would be a long talk on glucose, oxidised plant oils and in some part APoE4 that is better left to another discussion.
So the breakdown is that K2 MK4, D3 and bio-available protein (that goes up as you age) combined with some natural calcium intake (very little needed) are what helps bone stabilisation. bones are 50% protein and 50% calcium. You can throw as much calcium and D3 at a weakened bone that you like but the studies don't show much improvement while others show just adding some animal protein and the bones start to mend.

I had my yearly checkup in June. It went as it typically does until we got to the blood work. My doctor was telling me the blood work she was ordering and she had not mentioned vitamin D. I asked her why we were not checking my vitamin D levels and she said they don't. If they checked it at some point previously (prior years) and the patient was deficient they would have been told to take it and if they took it their numbers would be better, if they didn't it would not. No need to check it. I said 'Isn't there a relationship between a person's vitamin D levels and how bad COVID-19 does you?' She said yes. So during a pandemic that has killed a number of people why wouldn't doctors as a practice check for a deficiency in their patients that could potentially save them if they get COVID-19? That does not make sense to me. This pandemic has opened my eyes about the healthcare industry.

Hello, I agree there may be some benefit from screening more people for vitamin d deficiency, however I'm not a doctor she don't pretend to be one. If you have no signs or symptoms of vitamin d deficiency, why would you expect your Dr to check? Similarly, in this video it's suggested vitamin K2 plays a potentially major role in cardiovascular diseases, yet I don't hear you calling for everyone to be screened for vitamin K2 deficiencies despite heart disease being a leading cause of death in the United States. I could go on and on like this. It's just not realistic to screen everyone for everything, especially if there is no indication in the patient to do so. Also, adding more tests = more cost and then everyone would be crying that doctors are just ordering inappropriate tests so they can benefit financially. See? There are many perspectives to issues, we just need to explore them a little. And I'm by no means saying you're wrong or that all Doctors are good at their job. It's just a bit more complex than you may realize

Older doctors with nothing to lose are more likely to tell you the truth. Younger doctors with high student loan balances to pay are going to follow company policies to keep their jobs.

The notion that Saturated fat/ cholesterol causes heart/arterial disease has lead to catastrophic decline in human health. We have been told to reduce sat fat and red meat in the diet, and replace it with processed grains and industrial fats refined from otherwise inedible seeds, soybeans and such. The result is a diet low in protein, high in processed carbohydrate, and sky high in omega 6 fatty acids. Those guidelines havent worked out well. There is you causation for diabetes, heart disease, obesity, weak immune systems, many cancers, and more. Eat whole foods people. I didnt say whole grains did I? Half of onion chopped, 1 carrot shreaded, 1-2 tbs. Of olive, black pepper and bit of sugar. You can drink the juice from the kraut seperatly its a natural isotonic ,very healthy contains lots of vitamins. The only important thing is that the sauerkraut has to be fermented naturalny without vinegar. Sometimes producent put vinegar to speed up the process od fermentation. Its NOT good. Read carefully labeles or go to polish shop. We also have fermented cucambers but again those healthy are without vinegar. Uff sorry for such elaborated entry. 😉

What I've learnt is that Vitamin K2 helps removes calcium in the soft tissues and puts it into the bones. While you are taking vitamin D your calcium absorption is increased by 20x so making sure that you reduce your calcium (dairy) intake, at the same time make sure that you are taking 100mcg of K2 per 10,000iu of Vitamin D, drink 2 litres of water a day to reduce the formation of kidney stones and take Vitamin D with a Fat, either a fatty meal or I take it with a high strength Omega 3 and fish oil tablet as Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin and is absorbed better with healthy fats.

10000 is big amount. If you haven't problems as cancer this amount it not needed. If you have tested your blood serum bigger amounts of 5000 are not needed but resolving absorption problem....fish oil or animal fat is needed for dissolution and absorption and if there is gut problem lgg probiotic will solve this. In one year on 5000 iu you can gain 100+ of d3 in the blood serum from the base amount. There are different pathways for vit D from food and from sun. From food it is not absorbed in the fat tissue as is with from sun. If there are patology k2 for 4-5000 of D3 should be 300 basically because extra calcium in the blood from d3.100 is just maintenance dosage for 1000 d3.

I was a chiropractor in California and studied nutrition. As far back as 2000 we were seeing vitamin D deficiency in our patients. I moved to Western North Carolina and found a functional nutritionist who had me get a blood test and included a test for vitamin D levels. I was shocked to find I was very low in D even though I spend a lot of my time outside. I take 5,000 IU’s a day in liquid form. I was very glad that I already was taking D when COVID hit. For all the symptoms you listed for D deficiency the fact it isn’t automatically checked for still amazes me. I wonder how much of the depression and bone loss seen in older adults are from long standing vitamin D deficiency. I love your videos. Also for years I studied nutrition with a doctor that came from the UK to California to lecture on the subject.

I'm a 77 yr old male located in the USA. 2 years ago, I was told two of my heart's arteries were 85% clogged and the third was 65% plugged and they were evenly plugged all the way down to the capillaries. The cardiologist installed 3 stents, one in two of the arteries main branch and one in a branch artery of the 85% plugged arteries. I have been feeling angina pains with not much activity. I started taking Vitamin K2 about a month ago. Within 2 weeks I felt much less angina pains with activity. So, I'm a believer in Vitamin K2 for heart patients. The brand I take is Doctor's Best. Whether it's the best brand to take or not I do not know but I'm convinced it is helping my plugged arteries. Thank you for your video.

Non heat treated is kept edible by bacterial action on the meat, so it doesn't need refrigeration (good for multi-day backpacking).

As a dental student in the 1960s and ever since I have always been very suspicious of a lot of dietary advice because of the impossibility of running long term RCTs. Interestingly one of the few was the completely unethical Vipeholm studies that proved that refined sugars cause Dental Decay.

I was informed that I had around 20% heart damage and it would not improve. Talking to my local pharmacist he suggested I consider taking CoQ10 (CoenzymeQ10) as it helped ALL muscles to regenerate. Also Vitamin d and K2. Since that time my heart checks have shown improvement and I now understand that the heart can mend itself around 2% per year, very slowly but nevertheless an improvement. I'm a believer that if we assist our bodies it can both protect itself and mend itself if given the chance.
