As a junior I struggled to hit full sandwedges because they used to just balloon and not make the distance so I taught myself how to hit 1/2 & 3/4 swings and basically funk a PW. It was the best thing I could have ever done for my game as now I can use those swings throughout my whole game. As I'm not a long hitter I rely on my inside 110m game to get me my birdies and par saves. My wedges break up to these carry distances:- LW 25-60m, SW 40-80m, GW 60-100m PW 70-110m. I will often choose a 3/4 swing of the a higher club over a full swing as I get greater control and they still normally stop within a few inches to a couple of metres of where they land depending on the firmness of the greens. It this part of my game that helps keep me in middle range single figures handicap....great video mate👍👍👍
Michael Brathwaite let me know how you go, but if your strike is good then you there's no reason that you shouldn't get good spin....keep enjoying this great game👍👍👍👍
Landing spots are the way to go!! Easily dropped 2 shots around by using them, also read the greens as well so you know what way the ball will release once it starts rolling!! Great vid Mark keep 'em coming
Great tips Mark. I like your second tip about controlling the wedges and not launching them up in the air. You're on my bucket list to play one round of golf with. Not sure if that is ever possible but it would be an awesome afternoon to get the sticks out and spend some time with you on the links!
Great video! I'm playing off of a 10 handicap right now but I always think landing spot (my ideas aren't always right) but the execution is sporadic. Going to keep this in mind and keep practicing!
Martin Hall interviewed Mickleson he's said never chip from the middle of your stance. Commit to either a high shot near the front foot or low shot off the back foot (low preferred unless the landing needs to be tight to the hole). I need all this advice; I've been banging them too high and still haven't gone on course with more than a 50* GW, except in sand. Off the course, I'm working on using much more de-lofting. Thanks!
Question for your daily vlogs Mark: Do you think the UK should adopt high school and college golf programs like they do in the USA? Could help grow the game, get them used to a competition environment and learn the theoretical side of golf too! Cheers bruh!
they do, i had the option to do it in high school (yanks think that is middle school....the one before collage) lol fucking wish i did, if your young get involved Learn the basics now!!!
Interesting I'm from the states and didn't know that. I would think getting involved in friendly competition at a young age would do nothing but develop your love for the game. Is there a USGA type circuit in the U.K. for juniors?
Interesting video, watched James Ridyard's wedge presentation from a PGA summit the other day and is very against de-lofting other than "specialist" shots, wondered what your take on this was
Interesting point about landing spot. As a cricketer I see this with bowlers who focus on the stumps instead of the point on the pitch where they want the ball to bounce. Same principle, know your target.
Great Video Mark. There is Sports Science behind what you were talking about on landing spots and the mental side into the physical swing side of golf. Look into some of Fred Schumaker ( Extraordinary Golf ) and Dr Joseph Parent ( Zen Golf ) theories behind the golf swing, if you haven't already!
Rickie certainly has the skills to win a major, but I almost think he's in better shape now a couple strokes back than if he had a 54 hole lead. He'll need a lot more edge and drive Sunday to bring it home. I certainly hope he does it. I think of any player in the field for whom a major win would be good for golf in general, it's Rickie.
Awesome vid. I’d love to have a launch monitor. Just too expensive though. I have seen a new garmin has come out, G80 I think. Would you be able to do review on this device please? Looks like it could be what I’ve been waiting for...still pricey mind
Mark blogs great, tips great, golf is a feel game how can u practice on mats to playing on grass also the balls are different too unless u pay thousands of pounds with a course that has grass facilities to practice on ur never gunna get the feel just right and I think most amateurs struggle to be consistent because of this
Interesting Points Guys, especially with you guys never doing full swings with wedges. Think ill take that on board and work on that on my double course day up at slaley hall on sunday!
Hmmm...yeah...got me thinking! Is it better to use two clubs with the same swing producing different shots or to manipulate the same club? I.e 58 degree hit lower and punchy. Cheers for the vid guys...looks awesome out there!!
My best chipping around the greens comes from using landing spots. A couple practice swings while looking at the landing spot and let my brain take care of the swing always seems to work for me. (Playing off 5 @ 54 yo)
I have just had the new grips from golf pride with the alignment strip on the back Brilliant grips because they feel great you have not talked about grips before , are they not important
I would like to see some slow motion footage of the strikes of those chips and pitches to zero in on the descending angle of the club head and also the angle of the shaft and club face at impact. A slow-mo view of hands and wrists at impact would also be nice. I very much appreciate your efforts. You help me get a bit more out of golf. Thanks, Barney
Hey Mark! If you take loft off by having forward shaft lean at impact, are you reducing the bounce on the club and thereby decreasing your margin for error? I've always been slightly confused by the different schools of thought with chipping! Great video though Mr. Crossfield and Coach Lockey!
Trey Mitchell use common sense, can use short game swing out to about 65 yards, beyond that for me I start using shaft lean again. into wind maybe closer to change flight.
Mark, if you're taking loft off....why not use a less lofted club? It seems that it complicates matters to loft, de-loft etc. What is the thought process to change loft of a club when another club may be the loft that you're attempting to try to mimic?
Benny Frank the 3rd mark and lockey recommend delofting on all wedge shots I don't think he was just asking about people trajectory shots A nice strike with iron or wedge will mean the club is delofted and bottom out after the ball I agree it's good to be able to play with dynamic loft in different conditions
I think my biggest mistake is I swing too much down on my angle of attack.. what is your angle of attack coach? I think that's why I duff them sometimes
I have the imagination, can't always get the ball to land where I want or with the correct amount of loft/spin> sometimes too much carry, sometimes too hot and rolls out. Sometimes I just chunk it. Chipping is tough, brah!
just my thoughts but I don't like this music as much. it feels more like funeral tunes than anything. the last tune had some hype man. bring back the hype!!!
I am so tired of the talk leading up to any major... they say the same things over and over again. All you have todo is replace the name of the major with the next one and you have the same ol' chatter... Tired of BrandyWhiner Chamblee too.
Look Mark. Big fan of your channel. But your vids have gotten longer and longer.....Do you really have to make a 9 min vid about 3 mistakes people do from 100yards. The biggest problem with golf is that it takes to long. Your videos according to me is starting to take too long. Time is money. Get to get To the point quicker. Or maybe make 2 episodes. One for people who wants to hear all the small talk and one for the nitty gritty. Not trying to be a hater. Just having limited time to watch golf videos... Sincerely. A.L

Paul Brunt my numbers are similar to yours. I'll try clubbing up and see if Incan still stop the ball.
Michael Brathwaite let me know how you go, but if your strike is good then you there's no reason that you shouldn't get good spin....keep enjoying this great game👍👍👍👍
Don’t need a story brah
I am an amateur & only see the hole! The best piece of advice I got have heard about landing spots. Seems so obvious but I never thought of it!
Landing spots are the way to go!! Easily dropped 2 shots around by using them, also read the greens as well so you know what way the ball will release once it starts rolling!! Great vid Mark keep 'em coming

Re-watched so I remember. Thanks guys.
Great video! I'm playing off of a 10 handicap right now but I always think landing spot (my ideas aren't always right) but the execution is sporadic. Going to keep this in mind and keep practicing!
your wardrobe has gotten much better. both of you. bravo 👏 👏 👏 👏
so interesting with the chipping never really trying to use the full loft of a wedge. Crazy thought, will definitely give this a go!

I'm in the USA; are your saying that in the UK high schools don't have golf teams?
Graham W there is one in derby college. They get expert coaching through England golf coaches, trips abroad, strength and conditioning.
T. White it's rare. I'm in Scotland I don't know any schools which did.
Interesting I'm from the states and didn't know that. I would think getting involved in friendly competition at a young age would do nothing but develop your love for the game.

I'm going 56 as well.......... ffs mark, coach hasn't got a 56 😂
great as always will out there tomorrow trying this
Pretty awesome slow motion shot of the tee flying back at 3:01

Your Cinematography is Awesome!!
Easiest instruction to understand. Thanks from Canada :)
Enjoying the production quality and style.
nearly spat my coffee out when coach Kerbed the buggy.

Great video Bruh! Loving these new daily vlogs
Mark's legs are brighter than my future.
sean craig 😂

Nice gaf looking out over the 2nd. My local course when I'm over there. Top qual

have a good weekend too, hopefully see you Monday..
Landing spots on chips.... helped me this week for sure. 3 birdies.
Thanks guys
@coachlockey so much swag today
Mark, I played Anfi TAURO in Gran Canaria last week. It was great, have you played it?
This was helpful, thanks!
My best chipping around the greens comes from using landing spots. A couple practice swings while looking at the landing spot and let my brain take care of the swing always seems to work for me. (Playing off 5 @ 54 yo)
Nice to see a bit of 10 and 2 buggy action from Locky their!
I have just had the new grips from golf pride with the alignment strip on the back
Brilliant grips because they feel great you have not talked about grips before , are they not important
Mark I entered your golf online us open competition will you or golf online notify the winner please?
Dave. keep up the good work

8:26 earned my like. LOL Idk why but that was funny.
A daily vlog in a Saturday? Cheers bruh
great video!

M T Length of club.....shorter club length = more club head speed control... and control on strike perhaps?
For me the two biggest benefits with delofting are: better contact and direction. Give it a try if you haven't already.
M T all good players deloft irons and wedges it's how they're supposed to be used
Benny Frank the 3rd mark and lockey recommend delofting on all wedge shots
I don't think he was just asking about people trajectory shots
A nice strike with iron or wedge will mean the club is delofted and bottom out after the ball

I think Rickie has a great chance. He is putting the eyes out.
Hopefully, I've got him in the golfonline giveaway! Come on Rickie!!!!👍
I started using landing spot 3 rounds ago. Why didn't I do this before?
Coach, was that Rinky you were hitting with there????
I think my biggest mistake is I swing too much down on my angle of attack.. what is your angle of attack coach? I think that's why I duff them sometimes
What launch monitor do you use?
Riley Tuttle . Its a GC Quad by Foresight
I would love to practice chipping but every time I go to a driving range or a course they have signs saying no chipping.
When you travel with extra clubs for testing does it cost more for baggage?
Drive straight my buggy. Coach hit the five yard fade on the cart path.
Ricky is my top pick, Rory is my second Pick....If this were 'The Open' I'd reverse my picks.
Coach with a Ben Ross club in the bag??? Nice brah!
I use a Benross putter I bought brand new for £5! It keeps my Odyssey and Rife putters out of my bag- love it
Mark are you using Srixon 965s this round or did my eyes deceive me?
Spotted a 965, MB, BenRoss among others.
Ricky is going to take it tomorrow
JT looking like he's gonna win it
Benross htx type r 😍
One of Butch's guys will win; Ricky or Koepke.
By de lofting the wedge you're not using the bounce, which could be destructive for amateurs.
I notice that Coach, especially with his wedges, really swings his club way left. Why doesn't the ball shoot away to the right?
If you're knocking the club down, taking loft off would you not just use a lower loft club? Knocking a 56 down, why wouldn't you use a 50?
Lockeys driving style
Get on with it 😱
Is that a Benross driver I see?
TheGwhitey spotted that too!?
TheGwhitey testing bruh
J.C Golf Of course. Looking forward to it club reviews are my favourite Crossfield vids.
I SAW THAT ! The Mizuno and Callaway Police are on their way to confiscate all your gear right now .
why take loft off a 58 instead of using a stock 54?
Adam Smith some players like the way it looks, the bounce, the height, the feel, ect
As long as the average golfer understands what the choice club does.
I have the imagination, can't always get the ball to land where I want or with the correct amount of loft/spin> sometimes too much carry, sometimes too hot and rolls out. Sometimes I just chunk it. Chipping is tough, brah!
Would like to see Rickie win but I think he'll come up short sadly
Most amateurs do not practice these kind of shots. They are lucky if they can hit one shot.
rickie never holds on and wins i called brooks from thursday and said rickie isnt a closer from the beginning im proud of myself for that one lol
I predict Koepka will win at -16.
going to be windy
love marks short game tips. with all due respect his chipping is pretty poor...
so true about the ridiculous media.
Kevin Na
Sure.... let me just go pick up a launch monitor for practice... What are they, about $20?
The lie is a very big factor on the choice as well
loved Ricky in Eastenders but he won't win, he'll bottle it on the last day.
Ricky will find it Wellard tomorrow.
JT will never take those pink pants off
Mark, struggling with your feelings, go talk to someone with a nice long comfy sofa😉😉
Rickie ain't gonna win a major. #justsayin
just my thoughts but I don't like this music as much. it feels more like funeral tunes than anything. the last tune had some hype man. bring back the hype!!!
First 2½ minutes are completely pointless. The next 10½ minutes are only marginally less pointless.
+ytubepuppy so you liked it. 😂

alex lundqvist no one is forcing you to watch it 😂
Your computer doesn't have an "OFF" button ?
we love it moan at someone else or foward it if your 4 minutes is so preciouse to you
Your a big fan, but you want less? I certainly hope that Mark doesn't listen to his "big" fans.
TL:DR.
