I think what might have made it click better for people is to point out that these were the same rules UA-cam has, so if you'd be scared to post it on UA-cam you should probably be hesitating. Now the government where I live has suggested this idea of having face scanning technology to do age verification on the users of certain sites. If it gets through, the reputable sites will do it, and the less reputable sites won't. I don't want my face scanned, and I don't think Billy would either. So what are we going to do? Go to the less reputable sites and end up seeing some stuff that we don't want to see. Bruh.

And if you're not 18+ you don't have access to it or able to view even the thumbnail. But Twitch just was like "Ok, everyone have fun!" and porn just dumped on everyone's recommendations because of it.
When I used to surf on Newgrounds, there were clear sections for 18+ and violent content, and it was almost a free for all. And they were there for you to look for but were never promoted to the front pages. I miss old internet.
I still stand my ground by this super sus act at the possibility that this is an elaborate honeypot to weed out undesirable, kick people out / ban them for a while just to put heavy distrust at Twitch and makes them hesitate to stream after this.

I'd lay some of the blame at twitch's feet. Sure some streamers took it too far, but that's why you have community guidelines in the first place. They broke guidelines, then they have to be held accountable. But what about website UI? Lando mentions he could see explicit stuff from the preview thumbnails. I think I saw another content creator complain about this on the day of the policy change. Twitch has the preview page that you have to click accept to enter the stream when there is potential sexual content. Why didn't they have the preview thumbnails censored with a filter or some other thumbnail for these type of streams? This way, people who are not interested in that content don't have to see it. I think they rolled out this policy too quickly and didn't think it through.
i really think we need to place responsibility on parents to control what their kids watch. someone tried to argue with me that a kid shouldnt be seeing boobs if he wants to watch ninja and like... the first time i ever saw something from ninja he went into graphic detail about anal lmfao
