      This is a good hack. I've used this method on the newer washing machines. Drew should really have a stipulation that if you are using this hack with big bulky blankets for the newer modern day washing machines to stop the machine from going into the spinning drying cycle, because the newer machines spin really fast and can damage your washing machine, so much that you could end up having to buy a new one. See article for reference: "The Family Handyman, Why Bathroom Mats Shouldn't Go in Your Washer"

      I personally cant stand using public washers and dryers. I have ocd so i feel like my clothes are washing i other peoples dirt. I did a long time ago in California i always did my bleach cycle first ha ha cleaned the washer a little. By no means should you buy one if you do t have to, its just convienent to let the washer run overnight and not have to guard your clothes . Whe. i do laundry i just throw it in and do something else or leave the house lol. Cant do that a t a laundry matt. You spend a whole morning or afternoon sitting around in a public place. But you can meet people there so if your single its a good thing

    • @drewsquickfix
      @drewsquickfix  5 років тому +1

      Yeah alot of washing machines have push button panels now and they easily break too when the buttons fail. I always prefer the knob type. If you have a knob it works on almost any washer. Whirlpool owns maytag and several other washer brands ironically. I avoid cell phone makers when it comes to washers, samsung, LG, etc have had lots of problems.

    Instead of using the switch can I just add more water into the washer using a water pitcher or something like that?

    • @drewsquickfix
      @drewsquickfix  5 років тому +1

      Yes good idea, lol just dont let it overflow ha ha. That is actually a great alternative to possibly damaging the switch. I have been doing it about a year now and no damage. The second wash cycle does not add more water though.

    Man I love this channel.
    How much water is supposed to drain out of a washer ? WhenI moved in with my now wife ... Her washer seems to hold water invisibly, lol.
    Meaning I can manually push the drum around and hear it slosh but its not visible.
    Stackable washer dryer unit btw. Not sure if that's crucial.

    • @drewsquickfix
      @drewsquickfix  5 років тому +1

      Thanks tyler you rock for checking out all my videos. If your a homeowner this is the channel!! It will drain out all the water. If it's not draining your pump may have an issue or your drain may be clogged. If you load a very large blanket sometimes it does spin all the water away.

      (From ge website)
      Water sloshing sound:
      If no water is visible in the basket but you hear a "sloshing water" sound, this is likely the washer's balance ring. The balance ring is an enclosed plastic container partially filled with a saltwater (brine) solution that is attached to the inner clothes basket. It allows the basket to spin smoothly during an out-of-balance situation.
