That did not happen often; however, it was still annoying. The Maytag washer was the one that gave me constant problems. So when it broke down a third time, even though it was still covered under warranty, I decided not to get it repaired and started researching for another washing machine. Which led me to Speed Queen. I remember the commercial washers/dryers in the college laundry room and my first apartment after college; they just worked. I did a lot of research and went with Speed Queen. Since I occasionally had issues with the Maytag dryer, I purchased the set. I'm glad I made the purchase. The bonus is I've been able to load the washer with bulky items, like washing two full-sized quilts at a time without it walking, giving me an error message, or shutting off. My Maytag could not handle that. I have a working-line German shepherd; she's a little over a year old. Her blankets and our little Bichon/poodle's blankets get tossed in the machine weekly with no issues. Our Maytag would 'walk' when I placed their loads of blankets/stuffed toys. I learned quickly to break it up into two loads. Those days are gone with my Speed Queen.
I'm now looking for a new washer. Thinking of the SQ. My issues is the amount of time these new machines take. Mine is 5 yrs old and who has time to wait 3 hrs for clothes to wash??? Plus mine adds time if it feels it needs it ( Whirlpool). I hate it. Love the old time ones much better.
I'm pretty much sold on the SpeedQueen, but I am curious why they don't have longer warranties for the reputation they have of being almost indestructible and lasting for years. I see also that the warranties for different Speed Queen models vary from 3, 5, and 7 years. 3 years is not all that great though much better than the only 1 year warranties of the Maytag, Samsung, LG's etc.. Still it makes me wonder why some have shorter warranties for something well over a thousand dollars, and am I more likely to have problems with the one having just the 3 year warranty, versus the 7 year?
The warranties are BS anyhow because they just farm you out to local repair shops and those repair shops tell you they don’t make anything on the repair so you get put on the back burner. You’re going to need to learn how to fix these things yourself if you buy one.
The soap was already in? Personally, what I do when I have that kind of stuff to wash is I go to commercial place that has front load. Our comforter has a cover and that's what we wash often. I've cleaned enough down backpacking speeping bags to know that it's what's recommaanded anyway. Also, with down, drying is super important. You can use some tennis balls or something on the dryer to break the packed down. BTW, yes it's 3,2 cu ft.

I am still debating the SQ front loader if I can get anyone on any of the relevant videos to be honest about mildew and or door gasket issues. Thanks for posting your SQ reviews
I love to see your enthusiasm. What matters is that it works for you. Have you ever tried cleaning a traditionally difficult "stain" (with pretreating of course)? Say from grass, grease, ketchup, mustard, coffee? I fear the agitation just isn't there. Nice videos. Keep them coming. 👍
Really if you own on this machine soaking overnight is your best friend when it comes to stains. A better option is the Speed Queen TC5 with washes more like a classic old top loader, or the speed Queen FF7 front loader which are the commercial front loaders with better looks and minus the coin box. :)
@@DylBuilder1 Yup thanks. Ended up buying the TR7. My salesperson was very honest. Said either use mechanical agitation to speed up getting stains out or use chemistry and time. I chose the latter because I'm tired of my washer causing more "wear and tear" than my own use. I was able to get out some nasty chainsaw bar oil stains yesterday. Just soaked for a while with a bit more stain remover than usual (which normally isn't needed with a classic wash). But I'll take the tradeoff. I only get filthy as a weekend warrior (normally doing engine repairs). I think the TR7 is fine for "white collar" types (like me) who don't get nasty stains on the regular. And I look at it like for the roughly $100 more than the TC5, I basically bought 2 years extra warranty. Thanks again for the videos. They helped with my decision.

Then your husband never once read a manual because the directions are. In there on. How to fold your large blankets to accommodate washing them at home
We got this model a few years ago wasn’t my choice to buy but it’s a disappointing wash system. it swishes, does not agitate and the agitator is a joke and lacks fins which it needs, but the whole dynamic of the system is very off. It does not turn clothes over in water, it is so weak on cleaning performance and many of us who have this say the same thing, it’s a unique machine but it just doesn’t clean. Things may look and smell clean after being submerged in water yes, but deep down they are not. I recommend watching a video of the TR series watch action VS the TC series. Dramatic difference in performance, TC series is the classic flexvane no BS top loader old school machine with a real classic SQ agitator that they’ve used for decades now. If I was you I would sell that right away for a TC series….you think ur clothes are clean now wait until you get a real performing machine I cannot believe speed Queen did this and made this model but it’s why they had to bring the TC series back into the market too many fires were lit after releasing this new TR series consumers were very unhappy.
Just a TC fanboy. I can contradict you and say I like my TR7 better. The proof is that both clean very well, this is why they sell both machines. They have engineers behind them that know what they’re designing. They wouldn’t sell them if they didn’t both clean
@@Archifx To be honest not a fan of Speed Queen in the first place I like them absolutely but it’s not my first pick of washer brand. That’s a nonsense statement however, they sell shit all over all the time that does not work how it should nor deliver the performance one is expecting, and the list of issues come up broadly in the manufacturing process they know it but rarely anything is made to last anymore it’s so they can get you to pay them to fix it Whirlpools customer service today is notorious for this, but for example, look at all those 2008-present day HE machines with a wash plate, they do NOT clean well and have horrible reliability due to the ridiculous nonsense sensors and computers they contain, if you washed a couple items at once I’m sure it would clean fine, but who is doing that? Another example of things that are made with bad intention and still sold is the whole MTD over Craftsman buyout, after Craftsman tools and equipment having a long history of durability and reliability that’s crashed downhill under MTD’s ownership, big shocker, Craftsman is now made horrendously cheap and flimsy compared to how things were made under its first production father AYP and most recently Husqvarna. Have you ever for a moment looked at what the TC series does compared to the TR series when it agitates? There is a magnificent difference on how much stronger the rate of currents are in an empty tub of water in the TC series or any classic series compared to pretty much no current in the TR series because it’s swishes back-and-forth the agitator does not flex back and fourth it follows the tub, there is nothing to help turn the entire load over frequently enough to deliver the most optimal cleaning results, and without that as a Toploading machine you cannot thoroughly clean clothes but you’ll certainly get away with doing it just barley. I’ve been a technician for 15 years and I’m not hating on this machine just pointing out it does not clean nearly as well it provides a delicate soft clean which is not enough for most people and the soil they need to remove, and we have the same washer, I also have brand new speed Queen commercials at work that I’ve used for the last year, and have had many old Queens in my life prior to that so I’m very aware of how both systems operate and I can see with my own two eyes which really cleans and which one swishes stuff around and gives a delicate small clean. It does about the bare minimum as one would say. Physics do not lie and the backlash that company received was so bad they had no choice but to bring back the flexvane agitator system. I think that alone says something however.
@@Archifx And for another thing I left out the physical engineering of the TR series behind the front panel is very concerning, the way the tub is balanced and mounted raised alot of worry’s, Sharkie626 explained it perfectly in his video of what I had already noticed about our TR machine. It’s unique but just not for someone who has dirty laundry with a fuzzy white husky. Not hating just calling out what I’ve experienced in comparison to what they also have always made.
@Fix It Now Have you gotten your TC5 to compare the two? Been looking forward to that review in comparison to this one. And curious if you’ve had any issues with your dryer getting too hot.
@@julie6032 This shows the difference of the two. We have TC series at my work that I use on the daily, so I certainly can tell the difference on top of that I’ve had knowledge of these traditional machines for decades. The TC machines are smooth and create a nice hum during agitation spin is not quite as loud as new series. She is ridiculous lol…

Not to mention 3 in 5 of my loads required re-washes. The TC5 works fine and i'm not noticing any clothing damage, its not a little loud.
Hi how long did you dry your comforter?
2 hrs. plus just for washing ????
It’s all how you Wana run it. I like a 3 hour soak cycle. Gets it really really clean. I’ve washed it on a fast cycle as well. Just depends on your preference. Machine can do it all. Sometimes I’ll soak my laundry for a 13 hour cycle.
@@Archifx ok, thanks.
@@Archifx my family makes my fun of my love of long soak/pretreat cycles. I don’t like scented laundry, I like clean laundry. Set presoak to go all night and laundry to start at sunup. Helps a lot with husbands dirty sweaty greasy clothes. I think you may have out-soaked me at 13 hours! Love a man who loves clean laundry. Your reviews more than any other May tip me to the TR7.
@@cobra-he9xj Awesome! also glad I could help
Any trouble with the electronics on the unit?
Zero issues
@@Archifx Thanks for the reply. We have a 1998 Amana Washer and Dryer that came with the house all twist nob mechanical the washer works great, but the dryer isn't running as hot as it used to and were kind of in the market for something bigger and better my wife wants the TR7 and matching Dryer and I kind of want that on too.
Hey buddy can I wash a king in the dc5?
What about the dryer? I have read a few scary things about their dryer.
Dryer is epic. Never leaves the clothes wet as long as you don’t overload it.
what scary things
@@royjohnson9043 Sorry it's been a year and I don't really remember. But you can get a much cheaper dryer from other companies that are just as good. But the washer is GREAT! I don't care if they match.
If there is anything I hate, ITS WASHING THESE GOD FORSAKEN THINGS. Thanks!
Soak makes no sense to me. Still water isn't cleaning anything...
Crud breaks down under water molecules. Plain and simple.
@@Archifx Simply not true, unless velocity is introduced...
@03stage2 simply is true. The velocity occurs after they soak for a period of time. Also eliminates smells… I’m a smelly guy, this machine makes me not smelly. Mic drop.
Soak your socks in water, then soak them in an active jetted tub. Get back to me ;)@@Archifx
No.. just cuz it fits doesn't make it a good idea.
What are you talking about. Good idea… lmao
Listen to yourself. It’s a friggin washing machine and a blanket.
@@Archifx not in a top loader.. read about it
I don’t need to read about it. I wash my blanket in the machine every 3 weeks for years now.
Did you really just say 3hrs?!!!!
The TR series get slammed by reviews on not getting clothes clean. so what's the deal?
The deal is they get clothes clean. Same machine running 3 times a day working like a boss. I have the TC AND TR they’re both great both clean extremely well. Both are worth the price.
@@Archifx another commenter says you can’t use the SQ in a laundry room with GFCI outlets. I have never heard of that ever with any machine. Does YOUR laundry have a GFCI? Also, did you ever get reimbursement or any help from SQ with your dryer heater repair? That was disappointing and worrisome to extreme.
@@Archifx did you wind up buying the TC for really dirty work clothes (mud, oil, grease, sweat etc)? I cannot afford two machines. Heck, at SQ prices it is obscene to buy one set this year! An honest answer extremely valuable. Thank you!
@@Archifx Have you ever washed the king size comforter in the TC5?
fitting a king in 3.2 cu ...what could go wrong..
Nothing. Been doing it for nearly a decade
@@Archifx that’s awesome. You’re making me really want this machine..checked it out yesterday but was only hesitant bc of the CU. So you don’t have issues fitting anything in that thing?
Mansoil ! Mandog soil
My husband has been an appliance repair man for 20 years and he’d definitely freak out on me for washing a king size comforter in a top loader like that. Noooooo
Then your husband never once read a manual because the directions are. In there on. How to fold your large blankets to accommodate washing them at home
These are commercial grade washers..
Here in 2024 after falling for the nice looking Samsung, load always unbalanced and lots of water waste
However I have no idea why she says the new series is more quiet, when it drains and spins it’s so much louder than the traditional models. The TC machines are smooth and create a nice hum during agitation spin is not quite as loud as new series. She is ridiculous lol…
cool!
Ridiculous they can't make one without an agitator
Why would you not want an agitator? Moron
Used to have a non-agitator Whirlpool and hated non-agitator. Bought a top loader Speed Queen set in 2017 and love it.
Why do you want to wear dirty clothes?
