    sir, i dont know if it is by accident, i found you kept a bit farther away from the Shure than from the other 2 mics. in the end, you did get closer to the ksm8, but IMHO, you either didn't get close enough, or didn't get gain up enough. i felt the shure to be thinner. just my thoughts

    Hello Anton.
    I own a Beyerdynamic V70D and I love it for my bluesy vocals. Is it worth it to get a M88 for singing? Is it gonna be a lot better than my V70D?
    It would be great to have a V70D vs M88 shootout video of yours.
    Thanks.

    The Beyer is the best defined of the 3. It has a polished round proximity effect. I like the scooped sound. Very musical and smooth. The Senn has a saturated sound. The KSM is good, but less subtle than the 88.

    Sir please if you ever get yours hands on a Electro-Voice RE16 Microphone please do a review please and thank you very much !!!

    I liked the review - and my fav mic is the M88 as well.
    By the way: I can´t see any negative aspect in "needs a bit of control" - that´s the singer´s job, as a pianist I have to control my keys as well. So .....

    What is your recommendation of a dynamic mic (or any mic that doesn’t use phantom power) for male vocals right now?

      Hmm, there are so many, and so many I haven't tried. sE V7 is worth trying and I like the older (silver coloured grille) Beyer M88 for lower voices. Sorry I'm not much help but maybe try the V7.

    Great videos! I'm an audio geek and i enjoy very much your content!
    Maybe you could do some other comparisons/reviews, like the shure ksm9, audix vx10 and so. Cheers!

    In terms of sound, I liked Sennheiser & Beyerdynamic. Maybe Beyerdynamic is #1. In terms of design, Shure is a clear winner. But the sound is much more important. I already have Sennheiser in my collection. It sounds the best for my voice. Now, I want to compare it with Beyerdynamic. I'm quite intrigued.

      I think I'm gonna order Shure and Beyerdynamic to finally compare all of them on my voice. I plan to use it as do-it-all-mic.

    I've become low key obsessed with your videos I am sorry.. Your speaking, testing and singing voices are a truly mellifluous triumvirate ❤️🎶 a lot of your videos are on equipment that's a little out of my usage/price point, but you're so informative and relaxing it's hard to tune out. I must say as well you give the most comprehensive reviews I've yet seen on UA-cam, especially from a vocalists perspective, with trying different sounds and voices to test each mic it really helps clarify how things will shake out in the field.
    Whilst I'm sure you're busy and it's a bit beneath you, I think you'd be able to make an excellent "what to look for in a sub £100/bargain mic" or something similar, maybe going over the broad parts of the build and the sound people should look for on a budget, and what compromises they might have to make? Mics you might be happy to get knocked about on the road, etc.
    All the best, thank you again.

      Thanks for you kind and encouraging comments, and also you suggestion. I might have a rummage around the web and see what budget stuff looks promising.
      All the best,
      Anton

    These tests would be much better if you setup a PA and tested them for sound and feedback in a real enviorement.

    • @AntonBrowne
      @AntonBrowne  4 роки тому +1

      Good point, but which PA? and which real environment? I feel it's more useful the way it is, rather than complicating the issue with even more variables!

      @@AntonBrowne Having gigged in pubs,clubs,hotels etc for over 20 yrs my main concern is feedback. The best mic in the world is no good if it keeps feeding back all the time. I currently use the Earthworks WL40V Wireless Capsule on my Shure QLX-D System which replaced my DPA D facto 2 Capsule. Both Condenser mic's as you are aware. Both have a very high SPL for a condenser and great for most loud stages. However, They have there limitations so I have another transmitter with an Audix OM5 on which is more workable when it gets very very loud. I have found through use that the EV ND96 ( replaced the ND967) and the Audix OM7 are the best Dynamics for Feedback supression. I have just bought the MD431 ll as it has a good reputation for gain before feedback. Its a shame you cannot test the mics to there full potential. Great channel by the way! :-)

      @@jm252 Hi, I'm interested in your comment! I've been singing professionally for about 10 years and I completely share your thoughts. I've always used condenser mics but I'm now looking for a dynamic for my loudest gigs as I had too many problems with feedback... and I'm hesitating between the ND96 and the MD431 II, two mics that you mentioned! Could you tell me which one do you prefer and why? Would be awesome, thanks.

    • @jm252
      @jm252 Рік тому

      @@CalicoSkies18 Both are great for feedback rejection! However, try the Audix OM7... The EV is cheaper than the MD431 but the Audix has the best rejection out of all 3......Hope this helps.. I currently also use the Shure Beta 87a which has amazing feedback rejection for a condenser! Better than DPA and Earthworks! Much better!,

  • @Sibzuber

    I think this test is very unfair.. testing a dynamic mic in a studio environment it’s like testing a ship in the beach.. the guy should test this in a live band in a loud environment not in a quiet room

    • @AntonBrowne
      @AntonBrowne  Рік тому +2

      Then you introduce all sorts of variables, like the PA, the room, etc. I don't think it's viable unless you have loads of money and can pay a venue, the PA, the band, etc to do a controlled repeatable test... and then you've only tested in one room, through one PA. This way you at least get to hear what the mic sounds like to begin with.
